Hello all,
I just purchased a Dell OptiPlex 7010 for my church. It comes with a 250 Watt PSU. They use ProPresenter 5 for some presentation stuff including some video. I may need to buy a graphics card but I didn't realize today's cards had such hungry power requirements. Are there any cards that will work in a computer with a 250 W PSU?
Thanks for the help,
Paul

A GT 730 will probably work.
    I'd get this one: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P3-2732-KR

    Hello tucker147

Although the minimum requirement for the GT 430 are 300 watts you might be able to squeeze it in. Unfortunately you might need to look at upgrading the PSU in order to fit a more wider range of cards.

I bought an and put it in yesterday. No issues. Granted this isn't a lot of graphics power, but it runs our presentation software. The card calls for a 300 W PSU but my 250 W appears to work. Not that I would do this in any other situation.
    Thanks for the replies,

Apparently my cut and paste did not work. I bought and installed an EVGA Geforce 210. It worked without issue.

If he is only giving presentations and 2D graphics then that type of upgrade may not be needed

The GT 210 should be fine for a good while. Not much horsepower is needed for video playback, even at 1080p (I would wager the projector is no higher resolution than that).

The system specs for ProPresenter 5 are as follows:

ProPresenter version 5 (minimum Windows specifications)

    • Processor: 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo or above
    • OS: Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 8 Pro with Windows Media Center (more info)
    • RAM: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics Card: A dedicated/discrete graphics card is required. We recommend an NVIDIA GeForce series or ATI Radeon HD series card with a minimum of 1GB of dedicated memory. DirectX 9.0c or later is required. (Intel HD and AMD FirePro cards are not supported. NVIDIA Quadro cards are not recommended.)
    • Stage Display: Additional output required for stage display function (third video out - PCI or USB)
The Optiplex is an Ivy Bridge i3/i5/i7 CPU, so this setup should work for many years. Basically it comes down to this: If at some point in the future, the system doesn't perform well during usage, then maybe a better graphics card like the 730 or 740 would be a good idea.

    ASUS Prime X570-Pro AM4 | AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
    ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB DDR4 3200
