Hello all,

After many months, I finally got my rig put together last week! Overall I'm very happy with it, but there are some issues (aren't there always? LOL)

4790K
Maximus VII Formula
Swiftech H220X
32GB G.Skill 2400 MHz CL10 (XMP enabled)
SLI EVGA GTX 780 SC 6GB ACX
LG 34UM95 3440X1440 21:9

First of all, with Precision X 15 not being available for download, I installed ASUS GPU Tweak for a few days instead. SLI was not yet enabled on my system. I didn't really do a whole lot within the ASUS utility that I recall. I simply wasn't aware of where to get an older version of Precision X at that time.

THEN, I found a link to Precision 4.2.1 on these Forums and downloaded that. Uninstalled the ASUS GPU Tweak, then installed Precision X.

Finally remembered to enable SLI, then upped the Power Target in Precision X to 105%. Put +83 MHz on the GPU Clock Offset (just seemed like a good number!).

Ran the Battle of Berlin benchmark in War Thunder, all came out good.

Then I ran Valley benchmark.....and crashed. Several times. What concerns me though, is it was reporting GPU frequencies of 1398 MHz inside the application before crashing.

I returned all settings to default in Precision X, but haven't gotten the courage to run Valley again :p I was seeing the ACX phenomena of +10C on one card, I was hoping with a 200mm side intake blowing right on the cards this wouldn't be the case.

I *may* do a clean reinstall of my system in a week or two, just because it bothers me if everything isn't working perfectly ;p I used the InstALL option with the ASUS MB software, and in hindsight this was a bad idea. On future installs I'll do the time-honored tradition of one program at a time.

The reporting of 1398 MHz within Valley bothers me. Is it possible I'm already getting some boost from GPU Tweak, even though I uninstalled it?

If I remember correctly, Valley reports the core clock freq. wrong.  I think the mem clock is correct.  What was PrecX showing you for the core clock?

Ambient temps should be 24.4C (76F)

Idle core clock is shown in Precision X as 966MHz, at 49C/ 39C temps respectively at default settings.

At 105% power target and +83 core clock, quick 200 second FurMark test from within Precision X yields 1084 Core clock slowly throttling to 1019. Temp on hottest GPU slowly climbed to 82C. I have not touched either GPU or case fan profiles. I may want to take the side intake off the header splitter and run it by itself, tied to GPU temps.

At default settings, 200 second FurMark yields 1005 core clock slowly throttling to 966, Temp 80C.

I also may want to re-route my GPU cabling, running the cabling for the bottom card between the 2 cards may be starving the top card for air.

If you really want to know what your core clock boosts up to under load, use PrecX or MSI AB.  Valley reports that incorrectly.

As far as GPU temps, are you using a custom fan profile in PrecX??  If not, that can lower temps quite a bit in most cases.  It would look something like this, but can be adjusted to your noise/performance level:

Thanks! Copied your profile LOL, should help me a bit!

I should rearrange some wiring, and do some custom profiles with my case fans as well. I bet my temps can improve quite a bit with just slight tweaking.

NP, happy to help.  Post back with how it's going using the fan profile and making your other adjustments.
