I just took off the heatsink of a 908 TI KPE and noticed that there was a small dent or pockmark on the GPU die.  Has anyone ever seen something similar?  I am hesitant to move forward with my build because of this issue.  And I can't find any posts anywhere about a similar issue.  Pretty pissed off as I thought I finally had everything I needed for this build.

Hmm. I wonder if this will affect warranty?

Did you test the gpu before removing the cooler? If it was working previous, I would continue on. It won't effect warranty, unless you crush the die. If you are watercooling, the EK standoffs should stop that from happening as the tolerances are impeccable...

I have only seen a die crack once on a 980ti and that was during LN2 pot mounting.

I just installed an ek block on a 980ti classified and forgot to out TIM on the die... Yeah, first time in 3 years of watercooling... And the die never overheated, lol. You could see the perfect mating of the die and cold plate.

Yes, I tested before removing the heatsink.  Worked perfectly.  And yes, I am watercooling using an EK block.

Are you sure that the damage wouldn't affect the warranty?

No, its a working card. Just be nice when you are installing the block. You have already documented that the mark was there prior to changing the cooler over, so you can show that it wasn't an end user error. EVGA will take care of you if something comes up.
