What do you mean no graphics ? Does it show the bootscreen ? What are your other specs of the computer ? Is the power cable to the graphics card connected correctly ? (Well, both actually) Is it snug in the slot ? Does the fan spin up ? Does it smell burnt ? Does the rest of the computer boot up ? Does it do any beeping when pressing the power button ? Did you upgrade from an ATI card before ? Did you remove the driver before you replaced the cards ?

Ok onboard video takes over as primary video. And the new card doesn't override the onboard. Acts like there is nothing there. Also everything is hooked up, fan turning, signal out but no video.

There should be an option in the bios to set the descreite video card as default

Pre Built Computers have very limited bios options/hardware upgrade options. This is why its best to do your own custom computer builds

Sorry man but thier is a big possibility that the GTX 670 is not compatible with the motherboard in the system.

OK I've Googled this and its a known Dell Bios issue, but it can be resolved in this manner

This comes directly from an NVIDIA Technical Support representative, ManuelG, on nVidia's official forums.(he posts on this forum from time to time as well :))
NVIDIA Forums > Graphics Technology > GeForce GTX Hardware > GeForce GTX 600 Series >  thread titled, GTX 680 + Dell XPS 8300  POST #36
"We have a workaround in place. This workaround will be in VBIOS version 80.04.25.00.00 and later
    So you need to:

Update the Bios on the GPU (if you can get it installed in a different PC that it boots in)

Is it an EVGA Card? - if so the bios update is available from here

If not then you will need to find the Bios update and flash it to the Video Card

Dell have stopped support for your PC and will not be releasing a new bios that supports the PC you have :(

Dell forum thread: I'm aware it says 680, but the 670 is almost the same card)

If you have the ftw sig2 then there is a bios update on this site that resolves the issue and it does NOT void the warranty as its provided by EVGA read:

Then sell the system for whatever you can get out of it and invest in a custom computer build, Like I said above pre built computers have limited support and you won't have to worry about running into these issues.

Outright False.  I've owned a Gateway system once, and it didn't give me any hassles when I plugged an EVGA card in back in the day.  I only needed to change the PSU and case as I had a BTX slim tower.

Motherboard BIOS updates are mainly for support of certain types of CPUs and fixing any trouble with chipset controllers for USB/SATA/LAN support, etc.  They have little to do with or any control over what PCIe card we could put in those slots whether graphics, sound cards or a PCIe x1 TV tuner.   Especially since XPS8300 has a Sandy Bridge processor, all of us know no one needed a BIOS update to throw a Kepler in a Z68/P67.

I don't know why you guys lean on making stuff up because you have a strong bias against pre-built, not everyone has to DIY; we do it for fun but it is chore to the rest of the world.  There are a lot of questions the OP hasn't answered, yet that doesn't stop some from assuming whatever they like and making the situation as dire as possible as if the OP was stupid to expect the card to work in his Dell -- which I don't accept as I did the same thing and worked in my old Gateway.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

Unfortunately this is a known bios issue with the Dell XPS 8300 and the only way for this card to work in the system is for a bios update from Dell.  This would also be unfortunate because dells answer for this was not a bios update it was the Dell XPS 8500.

This is a known issue with the dell XPS 8300 and ALL 600 series cards.

A lot of motherboard manufacturers had to push out a BIOS update to get GTX 670/680s to work. I had to do that to get my GTX 580 to work on mine.

    I recommend a new motherboard.

I have been using GTX 670 4GB SC for quiet some time now ...... At first, I face a similar issue i.e no display output. Then I flashed new firmware in another system, and put it back in XPS 8300
    and WORKS FLAWLESSLY ......

Now I wanna upgrade to 780TI . Hope I don't com across the same issue again !!!

Can anyone confirm if 780/780 TI is compatible for XPS 8300 ??

You would have to find someone who has that card and an XPS 8300 to confirm but it should hopefully work.

I don't know about the 780, but the EVGA GTX760  does work in the XPS 8300. It is also a great length, about the same length as the actual card for the Radeon 6770 that came in my system. The height is good too.

I tried 3 different non EVGA Radeon R7 & R9's with no luck before the GTX760.
