hey guys after reading tru the post i had problems some what similar as my keyboard (logitech edge) would lose power during post and i was unable to get into my bios, so i moved my keyboard usb to the usb/1394 plate that came with the motherboard and that fixed the keyboard from falling off during post, as for my mouse i plugged it into the usb port on the motherboard furthest away from the keyboard usb so they wouldnt interfere with each other, that fixed it for me.

Your problem sounds different than what we are describing.  Many of us have all of our usb ports crash at the same time.  Plugging it back in wont fix it.  The only way to get the computer working is to restart by turn off the power to the psu.

After speaking with the rep today, he had no solution other than stating that possibly something is conflicting...either a driver or a hardware piece i.e. memory, vid card etc.  I've tried multlple components, the parts used are all recommended components.

My statement to him was the fact that if there is an incompatability issue and others (board members) are having similar issues with different components...maybe the BOARD is the problem child.  I explained to him that the board may be the one that is incompatable and has issues with other products.   A board that can only run one particular setup of components working flawless/stable is not the type of system that I am happy with.

Between the purchase of two nvidia 9800gtx+'s that will NOT allow a fan to run below 60% which is a known issue which has not been corrected (didn't know this until I picked the cards up...otherwise I would have NEVER purchased them)...to this x58 SLI A1 board of which I've exhausted possiblities...its the first time I've owned EVGA components and probably the last time I will own any.

As a credit to EVGA, he did authorize an RMA but I declined at this time as it would be the THIRD board that I would have swapped which has the same issues...I feel maybe the board/components/bios is a poor design...not that it is defective.

I mentioned I would like to exchange the board down the road when there is a newer revision which maybe addressed the problems. (I had rev 1.0 originally, then swapped to rev 1.1.

I may actually even consider scrapping the board and picking up another companies product.

My computer ran fine for 6 months then all of the sudden started acting up.  USB's crashing left and right, power running through the wireless keyboard receiver even when the computer is shut down.  SLooow post times.  Requiring me to shut off the PSU.

What kind of compatibility problem lies dormant for 6 months then suddenly emerges with a vengeance? Or just maybe the motherboard has problems regulating power to the USB ports.

I'm in complete agreement with you.  I as well feel it's the motherboard that is the problem.

There's not much we can both do about it though.  Your board is 6 months old, my second replacement within 40 days of purchase and stupid me...I sent in the upc label for the damn 20.00 rebate so we are both stuck until they either come out with a new revision or some other alternative.

As mentioned, I may end up getting a completely different board and either ebay this one or chuck it up to a bad experience.

Maybe the engineers designed the board poorly...they aren't able to replecate the issues many are having as they are only using specific hardware that we do not want or have.  If it is not repairable by a bios update, nothing is probably going to be done.  Soon the board will be outdated and a new model will replace it.  Just like the case of the new 9800 GTX nvidia cards that went in these x58's I built.  Those have a flawed firmware.  The 250 replaced the 9800 so I just learned from the tech...and that firmware WAS fixed leaving the 9800's behind...with the fan issue.

It's sad, between the three computers I built using EVGA's products, I and my friend (based on my recommendation) spent 1100.00+ dollars on components that are poor.

First off I just want to say that I feel you guys when we pay so much for a motherboard and yet have to spend countless hours troubleshooting something that should have been dealt with before the release or even in the first few months after the release.

Now, I just want to throw in my experiences. I, like many of you, use mostly Logitech products for their Mouse/Keyboard as I use a G9/G15 combo with both Setpoint and LCD manager installed on Windows 7 x64. I also have a Cyberpower UPS connected via USB as well as 3x 4-port USB hubs from my 3x NEC 20WMGX2 LCD's connected. I have 2 left-over USB ports on the back of my mobo and have opted not to connect the 2 front USB headers on my Antec 900. All in all I am using 6 out of the 8 USB ports on the back of my E758 rev. 1.1 and I even have another 4-port USB mini-hubs connected on 2 of the 3 LCD's. However, even with this set-up, I have yet to experience any drop-out issues like so many people have described.

As far as set-up goes, the only thing different that I am running compared to you guys is that I am only running dual channel DDR3 and have yet to OC my CPU because I haven't bought a tri-channel set of DDR3 yet. I am running the config on an Antec TruePower Quattro 850W. I am also only using the JMicron red ports for my 2x DVD burners and am not using any SATA ports as all my HD's are running on a Perc 5/i.

I don't know if it helps but I just want to put my set-up out there as I don't have any USB issues at all and yet I have a bunch of USB items connected.

Another thing you are doing differently is not connecting the two front USB headers.  I have disconnected my front USB headers on my HAF932 as part of my trouble shooting.  Im going on two days without a problem.

Food for thought.

Hi
Well, reading this thread doesn't make me feel better.
I've been experiencing USB dropouts and lockups for about a month now.
Got the MB back in May of '09.  No OCing.
Had some issues with posting about a month or two ago but resetting bios fixed that.
Yesterday I rebooted computer after MS IE8 update and can't get past the checksum/can't find keyboard error.
I'm going to try a PS2 keyboard tonight, but after seeing all of this, I'm wondering if I should even bother.

Have any of you guys flashed to the latest bios?
I downloaded the new beta and I'm hoping this will fix the issue.
Otherwise, I guess I'm looking at an RMA.

I don't know if this fits with the problems everyone is experiencing, but just in case it matters...

Whenever I play any game with a gamepad (the unfortunately named Thrustmaster Dual Firestorm), the gamepad repeatedly disconnects and reconnects over and over every few seconds throughout the game.

This only occurs while in a game where I set up the gamepad as the controller.

For instance, in Dirt 2 I won't hear the Windows chime indicating the disconnect/reconnecting of the gamepad when I'm using the keyboard to play. As soon as I map the controls to the gamepad, then the cycle begins. This happens in all games, Dirt 2, MAME, you name it.

I've tried various BIOS revisions to no avail. Chipset drivers are updated. Gamepad drivers have been installed. I have 8 USB ports and all are filled though many are used by external drives which are rarely powered on.

Other input devices I have are the keyboard (usb), mouse (microsoft) and a tablet (not logitech). I've unplugged the tablet to see if it caused conflicts. No change.

Settings are pretty much stock with no overclocking.

Details:

gamepad: Thrustmaster Dual Firestorm
Windows 7 Home Premium
i7 940
EVGA x58 757 LE motherboard
12 gb memory
Radeon 4890
Power supply is rated at 800+ watts

With high overclocks, sometimes my mouse doesn't move when I boot into windows, even though it looks like it's receiving power. If I unplug it and plug it back, it works.

Adding a litle ICH voltage fixed USB issues for me. I've never had it drop out on me WHILE gaming. That's odd.

I know, I know!  That's why it's probably unrelated to the major USB headaches described in this thread.  It's like the problem doesn't arise until the USB polling for the gamepad begins.

So I was testing at 4.3Ghz and everything was stable. Then I decided to play HAWX and plugged in my joystick to play. After HAWX i re-tested the same overclock and it wasn't stable... I found out in the end that having a joystick/racing wheel plugged in while stability testing could make the system less stable.

Apply this to modern warfare 2, or other games. If you have a gamepad plugged in all the time, you could be experiencing instability as the game loads the system. Try running stability testing programs with all your peripherals plugged in and see if it passes/doesn't freeze.

ok all soo i got the 4th yes 4th mobo installed today.....guess what still getting wonderfull usb lockups and dropouts just id it to me about 5 mins ago ANDDDDDD usb selective suepend is COMPLETELY DISABLED!!!!THROUGH ALL usb devices in the device manager and in the power options and through the registry!!! yes, this truly blows! if any of you have recently bought this mobo i highly suggest you return and get anohter brand mobo as this one is USB fail prone. plain and simple. im still kinda and strech....kinda hoping they actually release a fix/bios update for this.....yes yes all newest updates are in place. again return this mobo if oyu just bought it e760=fail BIG FAIL!!! well this was the last try.... while im saving money for a better(different brand) mobo i will be watchinthis thread and just hopin they will fix this lousy usb issue

I'm sorry, but after 4 motherboards, the chances of it being a motherboard issue is statistically improbable to impossible

Time to investigate other causes.

And have you listed your components yet in this thread?  If there is a conflict between your components, then a different motherboard will not help. If there is a incompatibility with the motherboard itself, then you'll have to pray for a fix or get a different board.

It does seem strange that his USB ports wouldn't work right off the bat for him on his 4th mobo.

Mine worked for 6 months before they went on the fritz.  I am beginning to think my problem was due to a short in the front USB ports.  After disconnecting them, I haven't had a problem for 4 days (knock on wood).

I have found similar occurences with a bad front panel header causing either the board USB controller to possibly short/fail....

But as for the issues your having I cannot get this to be reproduced..   If possible can you test individual devices to see if one specific combination of devices is causing the issue?

I am going to give it some time and then try turning on USB selective suspend and see if the problem comes back.  If it doesnt come back I'll blame it on the front headers.  Then I'll try plugging in the front headers to reproduce the problem.  If it returns after plugging in the front headers, I will contact coolermaster and see if I can replace the front USB ports.

As far as trying other devices, I am only using one USB device (Cordless Desktop® LX 310 Laser).   I'll see about testing different keyboard.

have you guys ruled out any grounding issues? maybe too tight screws in the mobo or backplates touching something? just a thought. i know static can cause this issue temporarily...maybe check for anything along those lines?

Add this to the countless problems I have with the Micro board.  I have a SSD and have switched kyb mouse and even mouse pad.  I have no front USB hooked to case currently- no difference....

i have put in a NEW front panel usb on my 932 haf case...........didnt help. right now i have the usb headers disconnected. i have this same issue no matter what combo mobo and mouse i use....... and that the only usb devices plugged in right now. ive tried NUMEROUS mice and keyboards. i completely disabled usb selctive suspend both in reg and in indivual devices in device manager (all usb root hubs). i had my friends motherboard in my case with my EXACT same mouse and keyboard for about 3 weeks and it NEVER locked up not once. the only thing that was different was literally the motherboard everything else was exactly the same o.c. everything i switched my motherboard out for his for those 3 weeks no problems so if it was a short it wouldve happend with his too. when we put my e760 in his case with his componenets it locked up the same way with in about 10 mins. ive tried his mouse and keyboard which are also different from mine too and it still locked up on me. its the motherboard plain ans simple.

Hello guys.  Hoping someone has found a solution to this nightmare.  Here's my situation  (that is a little different from yours)

None of my USB components work on my 132-bl-e758-a1 the way they ought to.  Hard drives hang,  game controllers have shoddy input recognition, etc.

I have a 1.2kW power supply, and windows 7 x64.

These same USB components work 100% with windows 7 x64 built with an ASUS board with a phenom II x2.

If there are drivers out there that I should look into, a BIOS update or SOMETHING that is confirmed working I hope it gets posted ASAP.  A friend of mine shook his head when I told him i went EVGA instead of ASUS and I thought he was just being a fanboy.  now I can never speak a word of this to him or I'll never hear the end of it.

After being jerked around with my rebate, the 4 port USB bracket missing from package, a dead Ethernet jack, and this USB nonsense, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER EVGA BOARD AGAIN.  Not to mention it takes way to long for a machine like mine to POST (i7 920, 12GB RAM, SSD, etc.)

Don't mean to be a stick i the mud, but it takes squeaky wheels to get some grease.

I just wanted to follow up here.
After getting a PS2 keyboard to allow me to at least boot into BIOS, I decided to do a hardware check.
First and easiest was pulling the 2 USB port connections from the 2 headers on the mobo.
That actually fixed it.
The top header came with the case and seems to work fine, but the rear headers were from an old addon card of mine.
Apparently, it doesn't play nice with the E760 USB chip.

So, I'd definitely look at the compatibility with other components issue.  I certainly wasn't expecting a 5+ year old USB card to cause that kind of trouble.

Good luck all.

its a good thought yes, but i dont use a add-in card. all usb ports are on the rear of the motherboard. the front panel are disconnected. ive also tried ps/2 kb and mouse of 2 different brands niether of which will allow it to boot at all. i get the "keyboard error or no keyboard present " during boot-up withno way to contiue past it except to power down the computer and flip the psu power switch fro about 45 secs. i also enabled legacy settings in the bios to allow ps/2 kb and mouse still they dont work. sooo ps/2 is out of the question. i did try the above comment of upping the ich(southbridge) volts i bumped to 1.10 i had it at 1.075 and crashed again. its soo far looking good with 1.1 volts ill try this for a while and see if it crashes/drops out. why would the ich/southbridge volts need to be raised tho? just curious........ if it works i of course wont knock it.......lmao
