Well, as the first voter I win! :)
I'm against changing anything. I find it completely ridiculous to sign up under one set of rules and then find the rules changed after the contest.
Me, if it comes to that, I would drop out. I really don 't care if the team I'm on is in first place or last.
I signed up under one set of rules. Change the rules that's fine but I won't be a participant. (I will however, keep the prizes out there for those that are less stubborn than I.)
Mega dittos. he said it better then me. My team is in last place and i dont even want it changed. Whats that say? Edit: we were last place.... havent looked in a couple days.

Afterburner: WE AREN'T CHANGING THE GAME!!!! everyone: DON'T CHANGE THE GAME!!! Afterburner: WE AREN'T CHANGING THE GAME!!!! everyone: DON'T CHANGE THE GAME!!! /broken record it's kind of like: Bob: Who wants free pie? Joe: Don't take away the cake! at least that's what I'm hearing. I guess the idea of two different concurrent contest run at once is too much for some people to understand. You can have both pie and cake.

I voted for both because I believe it just adds an element of interest to the contest without dethroning the Team that will ultimately win the contest under the original rules. This is the same kind of "additional interest" that Chimp Challenge needs and for some of the same reasons that it has been suggested here. I know that others may not agree and these are just my feelings. I'm here to have fun, do some great Folding with all of you and watch our daily EVGA Folding Team numbers rise through roof. We have whacked [H] now 4 days in a row and are on our way to the "1Billion-point-month". No matter where you are with this Poll, let's keep it together Folders, keep up the overall pressure and lets at least win as the one Team that we are !!!

Honestly - I have mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, we are already a week (or so) in to the contest and I question whether it makes sense to add a new element after the contest has started. On the other - I like the idea of having another layer - or, the "contest in a contest" for pushing as much as you can. I know, for me, assuming temps stay in line, I can probably push out an additional (approximately) 100k PPD. My original estimate was based on my 'normal' folding setup. But, as both AB and Tex said - it should be about the purpose of folding and having fun. Maybe we do run this contest in a contest as a trial this year. We can then make whatever tweaks we need to make for next year - use this year as a test? Either way - keep on folding.

At the end of the day. The reason for the poll is for Troy to know what the majorities take is on this subject. And as suggested, nothing has changed. We want these contests to be as fun and to connect to as many folks as possible. Not every idea will connect with everyone. Under no circumstances is the proposal of any idea to reduce enthusiasm. We had another fantastic day in Production yesterday, and that is a testament to the strength of this team.

I voted for team Overages, the Total doesn't make sense when users are running Big Adv cause thier totals could be far different from thier estimated PPD they entered at the start of the contest

After taking all the feedback provided into consideration, I believe it is best to do the following: - Leave the 2013 Folding M@Dness contest as it is. Though changing the contest was never an option that was considered, I just wanted to be clear that nothing about the contest format is changing.
- Leave the stats pages that provide additional information active.
- There is no formal award or prize for "winning" either of these categories:
- Providing a reward for this ultimately provides incentive for inaccurate estimates, which is counter to the nature of the contest and the points formula established.
- It was not something conceived in the initial rules and, therefore, not everyone would have a fair chance to "compete" in these categories.
- The categories do provide a meaningful metric to some people, as well as providing additional incentive to increase their folding production. As such, they have value in the information they provide and helping us to reach our goal of 1,000,000 points.
- I always intended to display some type of information on how much teams/individuals were over producing relative to their estimates. This information is helpful for individuals who need to make decisions on things such as how much contest value they are getting if the power bill is factor, or to give veterans an advantage when they make their points estimates next year. I will also be adding additional information on the team pages for people to view their individual overages.
- Hiding the information does not accomplish anything. If you are one of the individuals opposed it, simply don't view it.
I would sincerely like to thank everyone for the time they took to provide feedback and commentary for this issue. Ultimately, the goal is to make the contest as fun and interesting as possible for everyone involved. As a community we can continue to improve the nature of this and all our other contests.

Thanks, Troy. I think, however, we have some solid ideas for next years March Madness. I have to say - for my first go at one of these contests - I'm having a blast. Trying to dial in that just so perfect combination to get the max I can - I love it. Thanks for your work and leadership on this!!
