Hi there, I just won an E770 Classified of eBay. Even though it's a 'manufacturer refurbished' I'm still a little skeptical about it. I haven't received it yet but I'm hoping it's in 100% functional working order. The owner said he never opened it and it's still sealed from EVGA. Am I a little crazy to be worried about it? Another thing, my Windows 7 64b Pro (upgraded to 10) install was originally on my EVGA E760 A1, then I swapped over it over to this Gigabyte UD7 X58 board without reinstalling. Everything is fine so far but now I'm about to do the same thing but going back to an EVGA board, lol. There shouldn't be an issue, right? Thanx!

Do they accept Westmere W series chips or do they need a mod?

Nice, nice! Love the W series chips over the X series. What Rev is your board? The one I have is a 1.0 Does anyone have a back I/O shield for the E770?

I believe it is the same shield as the FTW3, they are on ebay for 15$ or so. When I get a chance I'll check the Rev. 1.0 comes to mind, but I just bought a FTW3. classified3 and a x79 classified in the last few months and I can't remember all the systems I have. I do know the classified3 FTW3 and SLI3 all will work with xeons.

This is why I continue to invest in EVGA. I just spoke with a customer Support representative and they are sending me one! Thank you, EVGA Support! I think the later boards supported the Westmere chips. I feel a little better after hearing about your board. How high have you gotten your QPI link? My E760 can come close to 4GHz

Fixed that for you! They still hold their own and can produce a lot of work in BOINC. With a good video card they still game just as well. Put in a cheap hexcore xeon and a good overclock, they are a work horse.
