Via a visit to /r/TEAMEVGA on reddit, it appears that people who had a step-up assigned for an ACX 3.0 (prior to June 21) are getting an upgrade to the SC version for free.

It should also be noted that the SC version is NOW (at the time of this post) available for Step-Up option (US as far as I know, I did not check EU) however you will get it at the SC price.

This is apparently due to the ACX 3.0 version having supply issues of an "unforseen" nature. Take it as you will.

P.S. if you start a step-up right now for the SC version, your place in queue will be 1786+

***EDIT*** The SC version has been removed from the Step-Up list at this time and replaced by the normal ACX 3.0 version (US only) and for EU customers the only option at this moment is the FE edition.

I don't get this. I mean, the ACX 3.0 card is the SC card with no factory overclock, so in my head, I would think it's easier to produce an ACX 3.0 card than it is an SC card. Not that I'm complaining, it's just confusing.

Oh well, lucky to everybody who ordered their ACX 3.0. Unfortunately queue times didn't immediately change, but this may mean they're going to push cards out faster.

You're right, it is probably to alleviate people who are upset about the queue not moving at all since launch of the EVGA cards.

Probably it lol. I've forgotten that in this sad world, people can get super salty over free things if they don't get it soon enough.

Hell, I changed mine to the FE version due to lack of any communication from EVGA about the regular ACX version. I have of course now changed back and will be getting the SC version since they added it to the step-up queue, but alas my number is so high haha. I don't mind the waiting, but no communication is what really peeves me.

I just received an email from EVGA confirming what InvidiaSuperbia said. I've been upgraded to the SC model due to an "unforeseen delay caused by higher than expected requests for the AXC 3.0". I initiated my step up on the very first day of release May 27th.

I really did consider moving to the FE queue, since it is moving, but I really want to overclock the card, and if Maxwell is anything to go by, I'm sure Pascal is going to hate dealing with the heat the FE cooler isn't going to dissipate.

Eh, from everything iv'e seen the only difference is temps, and even the FEs are not that bad. The only reason i changed back was because I prefer the fan style to the blower ( i was #32 in FE queue so meh). The FEs can still handle the max OCs that these cards have been getting, just have to use more fan speed is all, and even then most of them are low 80s maybe ?

I hope that they also add the SC ACX for the 1070. I went to step-up my 970 to the ACX today, only to find the option no longer there, and I don't really want the FE cooler.

I dunno, man. I've been seeing the FE hit the 83C limit and throttling because of it. Of course you can raise the temp limit and modify the fan curve, but I really hate the audible noise that NVIDIA's reference cards produce, not to mention it kills real overclocking headroom if you don't change the fan curve. I've been waiting to see what a custom BIOS can do to the 1080 by disabling GPU boost and everything.

Well, for 1 day shipping delay of my new card i have to pay 30€ more for a version i dont even really want. (The oc cards have the lowest boost clock disabled to unlock a higher boost clock, therefore higher idle power consumption).
I guess that is life, still better than the founders edition.

This is only for the 1080? So the 1070 step up is still just the regular acx 3.0?

I have not heard anything on the 1070, truth be told I have not looked into it though.

Check the model number listed in your Step-Up on the site, it should have changed even if you didn't get an email in your inbox.
    Also check spam mail.

Yay! The SC version was going to be my first choice on stepping up my card, but that wasn't on the list at the time of my signing up for the step up. But I received the email as well. Now time to play the waiting game which is fine with me. Between work, studying, and trying to wade my way through all the games i have to beat, i have all the patience in the world.

This is good news, was happy to see this email as well.  I wonder if the delay is from us, and we cant get the GDDR5X out fast enough.

Thank you EVGA, I would have picked the SC version if it were available when I initiated my step-up, and so do appreciate the upgrade.  Once again your commitment to customer service is one of the things that makes your company stand-out in the crowd.

Finally the regular acx version is back in europe, cancelled my sc step up and now I can get the card I actually wanted (because it has a lower idle clock and therefore power consumption) for less again :D
Dunno how the step up is handled now, everyone who had a regular acx step up got upgraded to the sc acx step up so the regular acx step up queue should be nearly empty again.
I would be extremely happy if that was the case and I am now one of the first people in the regular acx queue.
