Hey Guys, thanks for taking a minute to read this. I bought my EVGA 1070 SC back in July. Since then I have been having sudden restarts during gaming only, It barely happened July-Aug like maybe once or twice in 60 days, but since It has been happening more frequently, and since I started playing Skyrim SE it happens everytime, anywhere from 10 min into playing to 2 hours. It varies. No BSOD- just kernel-power 41 error. I am really new to this stuff but have no idea where to start trouleshooting, my PC: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W PC Power & Cooling Fatal1ty Gaming Series 1000 Watt 80+ Gold Semi-Modular Active PFC Performance ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 I was about to download a program called AIGA64 someone recommended to me and try running some stress/stability tests. The temps during gaming have always looked fine, in skyrim highest GPU temp was 68c that i Saw and 74c on my cpu Drivers are up to date, my bios on my MOBO and 1070 i think are out of date but didnt know if that could really be causing sudden reboots. Anyhelp would be sooo appreciated. Thanks guy!

Weird I had the same shutdown while playing Skyrim SE yesterday, it shuts down my entire pc 5 minutes into playing, tried 2 times and uninstalled the game. Al the other games that I have (which are way more demanding for a PC- WItcher 3, GTAV, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Battlefront) works fine.

Sudden reboots during heavy load often point to the power delivery portion of your system. How old is the power supply? What brand is it? (You just have it as 1000 W, 80+ gold). Also - do you have your PC plugged into a UPS? I had a 6 year old UPS that went bad on me...and would simply shut down under certain heavy loads. I replaced the UPS and have not had an issue since.

So I took my power chord from my power strip and now have it pluggin into wall directly to see if it was my old power strip and I amd still having reboots thats the link to my power supply, i think the brand is literally PC Power & Cooling.... which maybe the issue, lol, i built this PC 4 yrs ago stricly off blind recommendations from a friend. The numbers on the PSU are beast but the brand is unheard of. Edit: I guess i cant post links yet but if u copy paste my original thread PSU into newegg or google i will pop right up. Side note, I just read reviews of that PSU on newegg and looks like alot of peiople are having probs similiar.

Check reviews on PSU on NewEgg (I can't link due to being a forum noobie) Lots of people with issues, RMA it if you can and get something better, in your rig an EVGA Supernova 650W G2 would be more than sufficient. I run one of those myself with a 1070 FTW and 100% stable, even in Skyrim SE.

Do you or a friend have a power supply laying around that you could try? The EVGA Supernova is a great power supply...I own 2 of the 850 G2 and 1 1000 T2.

I wouldn't even think it's worth testing, reviews on newegg alone are a red flag to me. Get yourself a 650 G2 if you're not planning to get a second video card amd you'll be fine and dandy.

The rebooting could be because of the psu, gpu or a overheating component. Things to check... #1 Inside the motherboard bios under pc health status check the +12v reading to see if it fluctuates more than .05. If it does fluctuate more than .05 your psu may have an issue. #2 Check psu with a volt meter... How to check psu with volt meter: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDFAQs&op=FAQ_Question&ndfaq_id=28 You want all three rails to be within ATX spec, ATX Specification: 12V: 11.40 to 12.60, 5V: 4.75 to 5.25, 3V: 3.135 to 3.465. If any of your rails hit the minimum spec I would replace the PSU with a new one. HOW TO: Properly load your system when checking PSU voltages. #1 Download & Install Prime95 #2 Download & Install Unigine Heaven 4.0. #3 Open both Prime95 & Heaven 4.0 Run Small FFT test for Prime95. Run Heaven 4.0 @ max settings. Run both of these tests at the same time while checking voltages. NOTE: Always check your hardware with your motherboards BIOS set to default settings. #3 Make sure psu fan is spinning. #4 Check motherboard temps inside motherboard bios. #5 Try testing the card in another computer or try another known working video card that draws the same amount of power as the 1070 in your system. #6 Try a different set of pci-e power cables.

Be careful with Prime95, make sure you get the right version for your processor series or you'll overcook it!

Yup because those darn ole VRMS overheating is the absolute cause of everything computer related...............Thing is since the VRM issues, UPS trucks are overheating just hauling them around, store shelves are catching fire, all sorts of other related related issues are happening!!! The sun temperature has risen, they are predicting no snow in the central parts of the United States because of these cards, although as a precaution road crews are lining the highways with them to prevent icing. I have been piping the heat off of my 1060 VRMs and am having a hog roast this weekend. All because of those darn ole VRMs.............................. OH!!! I think I'll be roasting chestnuts @ Christmas too, open fires are dangerous!!!

i've had exact same issue as you. no BSOD, no error messages. just shuts off and boots up on its own. I replaced the PSU (warranty replacement after 7 years of purchase lol) and symptom is gone.

I hear that they also think the back of the card where the VRMs are located is somehow cooler than the front of the VRMs despite the HSF cooling them from the front. Free cold fusion for all!
