And hey don't beat yourself up over this thst much.. we all live and learn! That's how it works!

My first pc I bought was way back in 94. Bought a Packard Bell P2mmx system and 13" monitor <- haha

Anyways that thing would blue screen pretty quick no matter what. Had it in the repair shop 3 times getting this and that replaced and I called Packard Bell and said you gotta replace this per the lemon law. So they sent me a faster rig and a larger monitor for free!

After that I tore that whole pc apart and gutted the mainboard.. examined everything ans vowed to myself that I was gona learn what everything is and how it works and from there on I have been building my own for the past 22 years! ;)

If it wasn't for that turd of a system I wouldn't be who I am today! A guy that's about to build my fresh new gaming rig this after noon! Haha

I7 6700k water cooled
Asus maximus viii hero alpha
16gb 3600 ddr4

4tb wd black hdd backup/extra
27" asus rog strix 2560x1440 164hz monitor

The others already told you much of what went wrong, just an addition : Do not change settings where you don't know what they do, especially in the Bios or Overclocking software. It can destroy your PC. Fortunately you tried first for your GPU that is quite fail-safe, if you would have done this for the CPU you could have burned it :>

I once also had a PC built by a shop which didn't knew what they were doing (they mounted a CD-drive with only one screw so it deformed the case while being transported, and after returning it the same happened with an hard drive that slammed onto the graphics card and destroyed it) - I returned the whole thing, got my money back and bought somewhere else. Not sure if this is possible for you, but I wouldn't accept being treated like this.

You don't have to overclock with precision X. Just use it to adjust the fans if you want or the led colors.

Though when you do overclock you want to just go like +25 on the gpu core at a time. Hit ok and test. Maxing that slider would lock up anyone's pc hehe.

Most cards will do 2050-2100mhz some more some less.

So try +25 if it's fine then try +50 and so on.

Maxing the slider is prob like trying to get 4000mhz or something hehe

Would think evga would be able to tell you if you have fixed cards or not by the serial numbers off the cards. You should call evga customer support line and ask.

So the tech support of evga got back with a reply saying 2 of my cards were shipped out on the 25th of august. I am going to install the division tonight and run it on optimal settings. How long will it take to find out if i have faulty cards or not? Thanks again :)

Should be able to determine if you have bad cards in about an hour of gaming.

Yess!

" Your Answer:

Hello,

Both of your cards were shipped from our warehouse on 8/25/2016. What exactly do you mean by tweaking them for high performance? Are you actively overclocking the cards? If so, overclocking can cause the cards to become unstable and only the factory OC clocks can be guaranteed. If the issue only happens when overclocking beyond the stock clock speeds, then this may be a limitation of the specific chip."

Not good.. before Aug 30th when the fix was made. What would the odds be if there both free of the black screen?? Slim. Good luck testing them.

Witcher 3 was the gold standard in testing for for the black screen 100% fan issue. Would happen with 3dmark firestrike bench test as well bit not common. Others say just gaming. For me 30 mins or sooner in witcher 3.

Honestly.. if that store can exchange them for 1080 foundation edition cards go for it as the blower style fans are best for sli as it blows the heat out the back of the case insted of in your case.

If wanted it is possable to install the evga hybrid cooler on the fe cards. The hybrid cooler costs like $120? Ea. Same type of cooler as your cpu cooler. Good to buy evga fe 1080s as they don't care if you remove the cooler to water cool. As long as you don't physically damage the cards your warranty is good. With evga.

Most fe cards will run 2050-2100. I know.. I've read all about them and have tested 4 of them.

Damn man it raining bad crap over there! Better check the monitor stats and manual for 60hz. That would hurt of its only 30hz. They sell 30hz 4k monitors still?

What the monitor model? That's a TV right? Oled?

For Nvidia and gaming one would want a g-sync monitor.. here the one I got..

http://www.bestbuy.com/si...54304.p?skuId=4854304. I peg 164fps in bf4.

Free sync don't work with Nvidia only amd cards.

Asus does have a 32" ultra wide g-sync monitor but it's $1200 retail.

There's some g-sync 4k monitors but in 27". Smaller screen plus 4k has gota make everything in Windows tiny.

oh yeah i looked into that asus monitor but it has 4ms response time which is a no-no. I am a street fighter competitor and I use that monitor for PS4 as well and omg i can ABSOLUTELY tell the difference compared to my old asus 3ms monitor. i like tiny icons and such on my monitor :) but unfortunately it runs @30hz..... are there any legit cables that can push 60hz? :/

DisplayPort 1.2 handles 3840x2160 @60Hz.  Make sure you go into the settings of the monitor and 1) turn off Freesync (AMD cards only)   2) look for refresh rate or similar setting and set to 60Hz.  If this doesn't fix then check Advanced Display Settings in Windows 10 - if still a prob then check Nvidia Control Panel > Display >  Change Resolution and pick 3840x2160 (it should say "Native"), and set refresh rate to 60Hz.

I can't thank you enough! To what you guys are saying. I am more than convinced that they have scammed me and took me for a fool...level of depression is too high right now....

Don't let the depression get to you too much. It does look like you got a pretty awesome machine. You should really enjoy using it.

When i asked where i can add the liquid when water evaporates they said they don't know...

Yeah, you don't ask random PC people who don't water cool questions like that, because they won't know, but the answer is dirt simple: you put water back the same place you put it when you set up the loop. :-) If you're building a custom loop that means you simply add some more coolant to the reservoir, or if you use a customizable AIO system like the Swiftech kits you add water to the reservoir built on to their radiator. If you get a "closed loop" AIO (all in one) system like from Corsair then you don't add water at all.

You've come to a good place though if you want to learn about water cooling. There are some truly great, experienced people here. There are other forums as well where you can find good info. Also, look up Jayz2Cents on Youtube. He's got a lot of really good videos that go over liquid cooling, and I like his videos better than any of the other PC Youtubers.

AHowesThere's some g-sync 4k monitors but in 27". Smaller screen plus 4k has gota make everything in Windows tiny.

It does but it's a non issue, since Windows has a setting that scales up the icons and such so that the desktop and programs and whatnot remain usable. But yeah, if I turn the scaling off on my 28" 4K monitor crap gets really tiny. In some ways that awesome because it's simply a reminder of just how high resolution these beasts really are. I've got stuff scaled up so it's still smaller than it was on my 24" monitor so I get more usable space on my monitor, but still larger than unscaled so I can actually use it.

I keep vacillating between 175% scaling and 200% scaling at 4K.  Basically at 200% the interface is exactly the same scaling as it is at 1080p @ 100%. However, as you know, it is so much crisper and detailed.

I've got mine at 150%. It took a small amount of adjustment on my part to get used to things being a little smaller, but it does make my monitor feel like it has more usable space, which it certainly does. And I agree, things look much cripser and detailed.

I just fired up the Witcher 3 a week or so ago and played for a couple hours. OMG. At 4K that game almost feels like watching a movie instead of a game. It's by far the most beautiful rendered video game I've ever seen. I haven't downscaled to 1080p to compare, but at 4K it's simply stunning.
