I just ordered up the Classified X99 and a 5930K. I plan to use a corsair H100i cooler. What kind of stable overclocks within reason could I expect? I didn't get the 5960X because it had a lower clock speed, it will most likely make more heat(due to more cores), and probably over all have a lower OC capability. Besides, I saved 400 bucks, and who needs that beast anyways? I think there is a happy medium between 12 "cores" and slightly higher OC speeds. What are everyone else's thoughts? I am coming from a Z77 3770K. BIOS was sort of a flop on that board, but trying again on this new platform. I plan to run Intel 730 series 480GB drives in Raid 0, that is 2 drives. I contemplated buying 3 or 4 drives for Raid 0, but that might be silly. Running 580GTX Classified Graphics cards(2). Waiting for the 880GTX to come out, and upgrade to that. Then probably hit the 4K displays once the price drops on them. I'm super excited for the new platform!

Within reason, the overclocks aren't even out yet... This was released today, so there is no reason built yet. Wait a few weeks to a month and you will get actual answers.

Right, I was looking online in hopes to see if some early testers had some benchmarks. I guess I am hoping for around 4GHz. My 3770K runs at 4Ghz, and its pretty snappy. The extra cores, new architecture and more advanced CPU will really make this baby shine!

I don't think 4ghz is going to be any issue at all with the 5930k unless the lottery of the silicone is not nice to certain individuals. The 5930 theoretically should perform close to the same as the 4960 I would think. With the tighter processing and all, temps should even be slightly lower as well.

Personally, I got 4.6 stable on a 5820K on the Micro just using our ACX CPU HSF. 2133 RAM, stayed stable for LinX testing, I threw a 780 Classy on it and got a solid OC on that as well ran Valley after LinX. Yes there are more tests out there, but I had limited time, but that was a solid run with new parts. For the sake of stress testing I also dumped WAY too much voltage into a Classified, well, too much for air cooling, was running that at 4.6 also, VCore at 1.435, +400mv VSA, VCCIO was up to 1.35, CPU VIN was over 2 volts. I was trying to destabilize the board by overvolting it, and it stayed stable. I got that to 4.7 but it was getting HOT. Really it was not a serious OC, more a stress test, but that is what I came up with at my own workstation here. So far I rather like the platform. Im sure it will improve with new BIOS's as well, the legendary X58 definitely improved a lot from release day to EOL.....

Hmmm, sounds like it will hit 5Ghz with some effort. Way more than I expected. I will post when I get the chance. I don't have a custom water loop. Plan to use the Corsair H100i. I will see what I can get too. If I hit 5Ghz, it will only be for benchmarking. Certainly that is too high to run 24/7 without a nice custom water loop. Then again, I will see if I win the silicone lottery. :) Probably shoot for 4.5Ghz 24/7.

Silicon lottery is definitely a factor, but I think 4.6 fro a H100 for 24/7 should be pretty easy. Depending on your chip higher, but Im sure there will be those couple chips that fall flat on their face at 4.3-4.4, it happens sometimes, but in general, I figure from my own testing (about 5 boards I clocked on and 3 procs) I figure 4.6 will be the normal 24/7 sweet spot, and more if people want to really tweak and push it, and/or have a full custom loop, 4.8.

4.3-4.4 on air sounds good for 5820k?

Sorry I missed this post, but I did reply to your PM. Provided you didn't lose the silicon lottery pretty hard, you have descent ambients and airflow and don't throw WALLS of voltage at it, I think that should be fine. I'm guessing the sweet spot 90% of the OCers will hit, based off of the few chips I have used personally and the few I have seen Jacob using, I would guess 4.5. Heck most of them so far have hit 4.0 without touching a single setting aside from multiplier.

Nice, I ended up returning my 5930k and got the 5960x. I am actually in the process right now of getting things put together. I will post my speeds...

Doesn't that pertain to the IGPU? To my knowledge, these chips do not have an embedded GPU.

When I was in the BIOS configuring everything I up'ed the BCLOCK to 40. I was able to get 4Ghz without changing any voltage settings. I haven't spent any time real time Overclclocking but I am excited to see how far I can go. I update when I can spend more time on it. -Kesnik

There definitely is not embedded graphics, but I got lost at which part you are thinking they were referring to them.

I thought I read something about RING voltage pertaining to IGPU settings. I don't know much about it, was just throwing that out there. I'd have to go out and read up on what exactly RING voltage is. Is RING voltage another name for Vcore voltage or bus voltage? Like back in the old 790I chip set days?
