Hello guys,

So I went ahead and installed the new firmware for the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Superclocked that was made available as part of the optional thermal pad fix. The problem I have is that the new fan curve really ramps up the RPMs and it's getting quite annoying. The temps now hover around 61 to 67 degrees Celsius, but the fans get unacceptably loud in the process (now they spin anywhere from 2,000 all the way to 3,000+ RPMs!).

Is there a way to download the stock firmware that shipped with the card? If not, does anyone know the values to precisely recreate the fan curve (using Precision X OC or MSI Afterburner) included in the stock firmware?

I'd appreciate the help, and thanks!

My 1070 SC fans stay quiet with a custom fan profile that runs at 50% at 60C.

Awesome! Used nvflash64 and I'm back to stock, really appreciated Sajin!!
I'll just wait for the thermal pad kit and install that while keeping the stock vBios.

My fan curve on original bios kept things at 65c under game load at 1600 rpm max, while the new bios had it up to 2000 rpm with no decrease in temps. The 1070 SC is a cool customer but the new bios was meant to add a bit in order to prevent thermal runaway. If you don't do the thermal pad mod you'd be wise to at least keep the new bios as I didn't think 2000 rpm was noticeably louder than 1600 rpm.

I hear ya! I went back to the stock vBIOS and set up a fan curve that kept the temperature between 74 and 78 degrees using a max fan speed of 70 percent when it hit 80 degrees. That curve kept the fans between 1,500 to 1,700 RPM and kept the noise well behaved.

So I reinstalled the revised firmware and applied the custom fan curve, but the card doesn't respect the max 70 percent fan speed set in the curve... it's hell-bent on keeping the temps between 66 and 71 degrees, and to do it it will go past the set max speed on the curve and ramp up to 2,200 to 2,500 RPMs.

It's getting annoying to keep hearing the fans ramp up and down even when the temps are in check and the card maintains an always-on boost between 1911 to 1949. Guess I'll keep messing with the fan curve to find a sweet spot.
