I've been watching Newegg & pestering the wife about snagging a second card since prices are dropping . She said "just wait & quit acting like a child"..... Well I got another e-mail today with 10% off qualifying cards and ... there's an evga 980ti just calling to me . I was looking at the MSI card that was a little cheaper but I didn't like what I saw in the reviews about it . It's the -0998-KR Classified card (Newegg just ran out of them) , it should keep my 980ti SC company just nicely ... $426.00 before $20.00 rebate - 4K goodness (I hope) .

ahhh, i was avoiding that email from newegg... but now the temptation to pick up the 980ti sc at $419 after MIR is almost too much. the empty pcie slot and already upgraded power supply have been taunting me.

The "coupon" was a code in an e-mail for Newegg subscribers . They sold out of them a little later after I posted last night .

Mine already arrived in Houston today & should be in my greedy little hands tomorrow . Then I'll see if tech support & Corsair is right about the RM750 Gold being able to handle the 2 980tis . If not , I'll rob the Corsair TX950 out of my other rig . It's way overkill in it as it sits .

so far so good with my new 980ti hybrid   , so far none of the reported issue you tend to see on them  [knock on wood]   fans seem nice quite  no pump noise  I guess we'll see as time will tell

I like your RC collection above   , noticed no nitro ??   I run 1/8 nitro    but I'm down to a RC8  buggy  .21 nova plus  , truggy 2,8 team acc.   and my old  GS  racing  1/8 buggy  gs2.1
ditched my 2 savages  [what a mess and up keep ]   don't miss them one bit

LOL.. I hear you  that's about how it is with me and all that battery  stuff   I guess that's why they make them both  guess I'm just a nitro guy

I had a guy at another forum site  who got one like  the op    with the fan deal  but he all ready had a hybrid i'll assume worked correctly [???]     and he seen the difference in the 2 cards  and just RMA'ed it  the replacement card worked as like his  first   smooth cool and quiet  no fan issues  I guess worked as expected and just like his first card did  ????    don't know   I seen post here as well and the evga reps that answer on this  fan deal never seem to give a straight answer    one say dynamic  one says they run at 100%    but never on a agreed /straight  answer   ..  I guess if they answered on way that would cause  folks to rma with a 100%  card and if they answered its dynamic then them folks would feel the same  ??   ya, it was some funny business on it   ..  so far I'm pleased   this one is doing as I expected and so far so good

Don't remind me about RC cars ! I had 3 sons that all wanted them , and not the cheap ones . It didn't help that my nephew was into them big-time too .  I still have a few in the garage , covered in dust . My Clodbuster RC truck w/custom motors is still waiting for me to fire it up again !

That's actually something ive been thinking about getting back into cause I used to love modding them and making my own parts etc... I had a Clod Buster too all modded with Trinity Black Monster Horsepower motors, spiked tires that I drilled one inch screws through, custom modded metal frame, upgraded speed control etc....all kinds of stuff. The thing was a beast and the most fun I ever had. My dad got me started with slot cars cause that's what he was into and modded/raced and then I gradually moved into R/C around 87', getting a RC-10. I so wish today I never sold all my stuff.... what an idiot!

Card came in today , man is that bad boy huge ! Dwarfs my 980ti SC , so I put it in the main slot . Too bad I had to remove the fan & blower cage from the HAF 932 case to fit it in . I also had to rob the sli bridge out of my surround setup since none of my others would fit (all are the rigid type - 4 of them) . Now it is down because they won't work there either . Tried some benchmarks & it rocks now ! Almost doubled my 3DMark score (12552 to20322) , but I left v-sync off in the control panel . It also blew away the Metro 2033 & FFXIV benchmarks too . Boost clock is a tad over 1300mhz w/o touching the settings . Very happy at this point (except for the sli bridge) , maybe I should get a second one "to match" ....The wife would kill me for sure ...LOL !

ya its a taller card  with that sc a ribbon  bridge is a must  , but looking good .    I goofed the radiator  size  for my case fit   just a nit pick goof ,  but a goof .  may of worked out for the best though   playing around with different  orientation's   I see  up to a 7c drop in max temps  from one spot  to another and  how the hoses are .  have not run any real test of the card yet but like heaven and valley looping for temps  [22/42c]  [???]  don't know if the scores are all that  great but by far waaaaayyyyyy better than my old card it replaced  .  went to get precision x and it told me  I did not have a registered evga product    so I e-mailed support   on that then thought I do it once more and got some extra steps / pages   and this time I got a reply e-mail saying it was good  , did not get that the first time  just a thank you  ??  now I feel like a heal for my e-mail  all ready had a bad day to start with  and raining too boot
I still want to play around with some drivers   to see if one gives a best result  then move on from there  looking over some of the driver threads around seems there can be some hit or miss  depending  ..   so i'll have a full weekend of install uninstall  test  the driver I'm using now I see one issue in crisis 1  never had with my old card [365.19]   may try a older  around 355.xx  next   and see if its still there or not

sure am glad you got a good card , and should give you plenty of enjoyment

toyking22  - thanks for the pm but not yet able to reply or use --    around here in my area I guess I'm the only one who sticks with RC    it comes and goes like a fad   then its long gone   90% get easily  frustrated or tied of no easy parts  availability   and give it up  or  a place to meet and go run  disappears   or they run you off   I'm just in a bad area for a fun hobby  heck built that truggy  kit  and yet to run it out side of break in  its only so much fun running by yourself    [sad]  sitting here trying out this card  so far only issue I seen is in old crysis1    when I zoom in the rifle site or scope  the screen around the outside around  the site starts to paint black   ??? weird  my old card did not do this  of course it had its own set of issues with the game   but so far everything else seems to run excellent   just that one thing in crisis 1   will try some other drivers   or may chalk it up  the games bad  memory leaks  and crisis was bad for that anyway ??? just don't know off hand

the card all looks good  readings wise   nothing looks out of whack    then you would think more demanding programs would show issues    cause its not like crisis is taxing it  too much  all the rest about in game is great and fast  looks good  and all just that one deal  I 'm calling painting things black ??
