teddy, that's normal, bigadvs take longer for some than others.  As a result there are swings in the numbers.  Most of us will fold to the end under EVGApes.  For me about the science, although I do push my equipment a little harder when we're in a "heated" battle.  On this one, if we switched the entire team, I don't know if we could catch the lead.  But it's still about the WUs.

Main rig: i7 4820, Water cooled, 1000HX, eVGA x58 Classy 3, 16 GBs Corsair Dominato, eVGA GTX 980HC
24/7 folding rig: i7 2600K OC'd to 4.5 GHz, Armageddon cooler, eVGA P67 FTW, 8GB Corsair Vengence 1600. eVGA GTX 580 HC2, PSU 750TX

I will be folding to the end as well, but am looking forward to the end. What is sad though is the handycap system rewards teams that have people that just fold during CC, and shut down the rest of the year, ( seems counterproductive to mee ) but a lower team output during the handycap faze ='s better results during the contest, but results in lower work for stanford. I guess a lot of thought did not go into this. Plus our EVGA bucks program is now a thorn in our side, how many come here to get their bucks, and drive up the team average only to shoot off to another team, What if our larger folders, devided output betweem multaple teams, during average computation, just wouldn't seem honest. even if it was done under the guise of spreading the welth or helping the other teams, because in all honesty it would be no help to that team, it would however still bennifit stanford. Oh well you can't help but loose when the system is set up with that goal in mind. So lets all just forget it, do whats right, and let Karma and ethics, declare the true winners.

Just checking in while getting my kids to clean up as a bit of a Mom's day gift . . .

Wanted to say that given the hand we were dealt, the uphill fight we had against us, we're doing freaking fantastically.  Yeah, there are a lot of 'shoulda coulda woulda's' flying around, but in the end we're rockin' out the points and setting new records, just like I KNEW we would be!

So, seeing the way things are right now, the next stop is a 25 million point day, break through an 8 million point a day gain over [H], and get through our 1 Billion point lead.

You with me?

I think it's cool that we have more folding points than the 5 smallest teams combined.  Just another sign of who the real #1 team is...

update:
Most of you have noticed, that the captains have been summoned.
Due to more folders than expected changing to HWC from NCIX, their base points have been adjusted.

The probably just want to add the rule that any team that starts with an E, has to do their folding while standing on one leg.  OK, just tell us which one, we'll still do our best.

I thought something like that might happen, NCIX folders, including 10eeee I believe, jumped in to give them about 1mill PPD. That threw the original handicap out the window.

No, only HWCs handicap has been adjusted.
Unfortunately this has no effect on us.

This is why the handicap should be applied against yourself as a team in real time not previous production.  The race is more realistic ATM with for example:
CBC @ 46% of the folders folding under CC Name
Maximum @ 49% of the folders folding under CC Name
EVGA @ 57% of the folders folding under CC Name
OCN @ 87% of the folders folding under CC Name
ChimpPowerUp @ 93% of the folders folding under CC Name
HWC @ 97% of the folders folding under CC Name
ECT... you get the point this is how the Handicap should be and HWC would still be in the lead

Shows teamwork to get everyone switched over... Great Work HWC 97%!!!

Hello Guests,

Anyway does it matter, they don't like us because of the bucks, that's ok with me. I would like to thank EVGA & Nvidia because they do more for Folding than ANY team on the planet!!!!!!

Re:Official chimp challenge 2011 thread 2011/05/08 12:46:35 (permalink)
What a shame.  The only thing worse than a contest with bad rules is a contest where the rules change during the competition.  So now will the new second and third place teams do the research to prove that the new first place team has plenty of "borrowed" folders?
All this attention on the (bad) rules has taken away from the original intent of gaining new folders.  Does anyone seriously think that any team's output which is now 50% higher than a few days ago will stay that way?  THAT should be the real measure - the sustained improvement due to additional folders, not some temporary improvement due to realignment of resources.
It will be interesting to look at aggregate stats for all F@H a few weeks after the CC ends and see if there was any permanent improvement.

I don't see why the rules changed mid contest, or the values were adjusted.  A smaller team will have a much easier time recruiting more folders.  Kudos to HWC for recruiting other folders to their team.  NCIX is also Canadian as far as I know, so maybe they just wanted to assist in getting the jade monkey to a Canadian team.  I hope this adjustment doesn't mean they will lose their victory.

I said that in smack talk chat box on the first day and was labeled a complainer  I said it was great to see HWC with a big surge of PPD all the sudden and I hope they cheep it going after the CC ends.

But I agree, that I think the idea has shifted. When I first read about the CC I thought it was cool to have an event centered around getting new people involved with this great cause. But unfortunately we are human and our competitive nature sometimes gets the better of us. So instead of looking for ways to get new people, we look for ways to beat the other guy. Such is life, this contest is no different.

But I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm still having fun. The Apes are putting on a real show in terms of total output and I look forward to every update to see how much more research is getting done.

That is like saying it's alright for the Chicago Cubs to give all their best players to the Chicago White Sox during the World Series so they can keep the title in Chicago....

I mean if that is the case, what is the point of having teams at all?

I don't think it matters much who wins ( as Long as we don't ) ; so Take it with a grain of salt, fold like there is no tomorrow, and let the chips fall where they may, There will be a new set of rules next year, and another new set the year after that, i can't make people play nice together, I can not make the world a place where all is equal, fun , and fair, what I can do is fold my heart out, and contribute all I can, what others do with that information is beyond my control, It's like giving a dollar at church, I can give the dollar, but once I give it, it's no longer up to me to say whither it supports the preacher, pays the electric bill, or goes to foreign missions, Even if that dollar get's stolen by the guy two pues behind me, it should not belittle my gift. my intensions were good. I don't stress what I can not change, I focus  on what I can do.

Let me start off by saying I'm EVGA for life. Even though the rules are not ideal, I was not in favor of changing them in the middle of the contest. With that being said, after a lot of thought I made the desicion to provide ChimPowerUp with the rest of my production for the next week. It's my way of trying to give a big middle finger to the two teams at the top. In the Smack Talk Chat room there was so much hatred toward EVGA from the lead teams and I feel like the only way to shut them up is to help a team that is so close to the lead. Immature?  probably. Disloyal? never...

I don't see how your actions will do anything to get people to not hate EVGA. In fact, it will do quite the opposite.

You're going to lessen our team showing to strengthen someone else’s? My mind is bottled.

I see a lot of complaining..... the top teams showed up whereas only a small fraction of our team switched over.  Is that the "rules" fault that many on our team continue to fold under their usual name instead of switching?

We have a great PPD output which says a lot about the individuals who are participating from our team so suck it up and stop being sore losers people....  They could change the rules next year and there will be something else to complain about so it'll never be perfect.

Main rig:  4GHz i7-5960x, 3xTitan X, 32GB RAM, RAID 0 SSDs
1080p bedroom TV rig:  3.5GHz i7-4770k, 16GB RAM, couple SSDs
4k TV rig:  i7-4770, 16GB RAM, SSD
Laptop:  i7-4900MQ, 680m, 3xSSD RAID 0, connected to 4k TV (I don't mess around)

Don't know where you got these numbers, but I see on EOC stats that 18 out of HWC's 72 active users had points in their own names today.  That means only 75% switched.  Not that impressive to me - 75% of 72.

It's really getting old being told what to do.
