I kinda agree with Punchy. This way the guys that don't follow the forums (and don't switch) points will be taken into account.
If they base our handicap on our total PPD, were kinda screwed cause you all know only a small % switch clients and participate in the CC.
I'm not sure what is the correct way but a straight out race isn't fair.

we knew this going in and it does hold true
pgmoney

Sadly no that is a failed point system from jump. Why?? Because there is to many variables! wu's that don't exist anymore or produce lower ppd then they did before or vice versa.

Second it took me and zerran a solid 2 months of work getting folders to switch their names on time and we still was missing 27% of our teams production going toward evgapes. during the CC.
OCN comes out strong for chimp challenge as you pointed out. how can you base what a cc team will do based on numbers from the entire team during any time frame?
The PPD of wu's from 3 or 5 months ago are not equal to what they are now, and I am sure they will change some again before CC starts up.

Now even if they used the numbers from last years CC this would not work because a we all know big adv was a huge ppd maker more so last year then this year.

EVGA would be lucky to place #4 under that system and obviously we are not that bad of a team at putting up points.

let's just make sure the point system is fair to all teams if it is to be changed.

as i predicted easily with data at hand when i posted my quote evga would be lucky to finish 4th. lol how did i know this? simply by what tank and punchy as well as myself stated not everyone switches their name over sadly that is some of our best folders also.
so far actually less then 45% of the team switched their names over this is where organization comes into play along with alot of dedication from the entire team.

however i just wanted to point out with the handicap system at current this was easy to predict who would be where and knowing many [H] folders went to fold for OCN the team history theory is a flop, but i among others knew that was comming.

all in all this is a good for science and just want to point out to fold for the cause science is winning and that is the over all goal of cc
so please no more posts about the handicap, if you call it that.
this was very foreseeable by those who have been in the cc the past 2 years

qq and fold on

This whole thing is quite silly, we're in a class all our own competing in a contest rigged for us not to win. It's all good. The mere fact that we support it drives its existence. Can you imagine if we all said, "No thanks." next year?

So yeah, enough is enough, let's focus on WUs and PPD because what we do helps save lives.

In the words of another famous researcher:
We both said a lot of things that you are going to regret. But I think we should put our differences behind us. For science. You monster."

Hi Guys,
Just got home from the road and tried to join the fun using the passkey sent to me.  I keep getting an invalid passkey error from tracker 2 when I try and enter it.  Any idea what I may be doing wrong?  I have set my user name to EVGApes.

Not sure why there is all the fuss about changing names for the CC.  If you can show your normally able to complete a certain ammount of points and you dedicated those to CC then you will get credit.  If your using your own Passkey then you can see exactly how many that is.  If not then you need to be watching the PPD for each day a lot more closely and estimate the bonus for SMP which is more complex.  I am all in for the wopping 10 days with 1 smp, 3GPU and 8 single core CPU (one is a pentium d hyperthreading)  All told it's about 65K a day.  I can recoup my points within the rest of the month to max out the EVGA bucks so I don't see the impact really.  As far as the Scale issue, don't worry about the other teams, just look at the sheer numbers of work units we have completed to since the 5th.  The [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] workload has quadroopled in the last 2 days.  I say we just burry the pedal in the floorboards and Fold to the max.

Re:Official chimp challenge 2011 thread 2011/05/07 14:44:44 (permalink)
At this point, OCN has bettered us so far for the CC. Granted they only needed about 1/2 our ppd for the CC point. They still have a "much better recruitment effort than we have 'musterred'. They are still getting "SPANKED" by a little Team as expected with the Weighting system this year.

I say we just stay the course as a Team of the awesome EVGApes, If for no other reason than to show we are NOT Quitters no matter what. We decided to "sign-on" for this and we should just fold "Loud and Proud". It's only 10 Days, I vote we see it through regardless.

I further say we should "DROP" the whining 'blame game' against our own Team as a minimum. There was no "Team vote" and therefore WAS NOT a Team decision. We need to grow around the excuses and just complete the contest.

Just be cautious not to burn up any hardware in this un-winnable situation. Push to the max, but not over it because its not necessary to win. Due to the impossibility of winning. Just give it a good go and move on to the next WU. CC at this point doesn't even matter. It is what it is.

I may be able to free up some cpu cores for folding. Would I need a passkey for say 6 out of 12 threads on a 980X ?

Yeah, It Is What It Is but IT does matter. But only as a tertiary consideration.
First and formost is Why We Fold .. we do this for society regardless of any contest or competition.
Secondly, this is TEAM evga, not a bunch of ringers, its you and me because we choose to be right here right now doing this thing together.
Thirdly, in my mind I can see a longer projection of the current scoring system and guess what? we win hands down every time. 10 days just is not long enough, you can extend the current graph to the point where we win, and win every time.

In conclusion, we are each of us pure win. Are you folding? Yes? Nice .. Do you admire your teammates and aspire to give? Sweet ..does it matter if some uber meme contrives to regulate what you give? No! .. AWESOME, I am not here to win a prize or to flex in your face. I am here because when joined our giving increases beyond what any individual can output.

*And hey .. we got the best place to hang anyways. Check out some of these Awesome folks. There is a multiverse of experience to draw from here.

First off, I have had a lot of fun preparing for and participating in the Chimp Challenge.  Let's be proud we have the most total credits!  For me this has become a marathon of sorts for my PC.  I am proud it is running strong while folding 24/7.  Usually I fold for maybe half the day and use my PC for school and gaming.  I am putting out the highest ppd yet for this rig and have set the goal of maintaining that output for the full 10 days.
Come on apes, find some inspiration and push through till the challenge is complete!

I set my goals on a couple of other things:
1) 1 Billion point lead over [h] BEFORE this crap is over
2) Try my hardest that crap like this never happens again

Looks like our friends from up north are getting a little hot under the collar.

My personal goal for this contest is to earn one chimp point for the team , ( by myself ) withen the 10 days.

My personal Goal is to fold my 1st CC with EVGApes.

Whoohoo, goal accomplished. No shame and definitely NO remorse. Win lose or draw.
