Nothing counts til the start date.. So my gpu's are not running for CC at the moment. bigadv are fine to start now as they will finish after the start. I think i'm right

Yes The problem is not with starting early, all points will be zeroed at start, they just don't want you to shut down folding, and then start to time your points to hit at or near the start, as the time you spend shut down does stanford a dis-service.

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that a 3.8 or more is needed to make the bonus points give you a better value , and return on your investment over the standard smp folding. But also I think that was figured on a 4 core 8 thred processor. so it might not apply to those of you with the newer processors.

Ok I'm convinced, and it's only 10 days so that's sweet. Not sure what to put in the entry as my PPD though? Just the 35,000 I did last month? Does it matter?
...I'll just put 35,000 since I have no idea what to enter for that field.
If you did 35,000 last month over 30 days, than your PPD would be 35,000/30, ( assuming it took you all month to do it ) since PPD is points Per Day. you should enter 1,167.

Barbarossa Unfortunately not. You´ll either get 0 points for it, or only the 8955 base points at best. Also that one wu will count as a failed wu towards your own name/passkey combo. So its best to run with the -oneunit flag, then change the username/passkey Thanks for clarifying that Barbarossa.

can we change the ppd we entered in on the form? I just finisihed everything up and my estimates are more than what i had orginally anticipated....i put down 60,000 PPD but now it look like it will be more around 80-90000 PPD....

I think your fine as long as it's more not less, Still haven't figured out how they are going to check to see if your 90% of your folding to CC, since we will all be grouped togher ( well most of us anyway), ( excludes those with a unique passkey )

I'm only going to be running WUs at night and power off my machine during the day. Is there an optimal configuration for part time contributions as far as point gains?. Also, my tracker is showing that I am at 32,709 PPD does that mean points gathered over a 24 hour period or points gained if I just let it finish current WUs?

The points tracker shows are assuming you continue to get the same WU's and run 24 hours a day. Example my 560 tells me I can get 16K, but I only ger about 1K per work unit, in a day it should be able to knock out 16 of them, If I know I am only going to run 12 hours a day, than I can expect about 8K, some days more some days less depending on what work unit I get, and how long I have to wait on it.

In that case I'm thinking I just might let 'er rip 24 hours a day for the duration of the contest and cross my fingers for my gear. Everything is very stable: With both cards at 99% usage GPU1 temp=77 with fan at 77% GPU2 temp=63 with fan at 63% .. flat lines ... cpu 55 degrees at 3.2MHz ... Hmm .. OK! I'll do it! C'mon Apes! Looks like I may not be able to participate in the challenge... I'm stuck out in the Midwest installing POS systems for a restaurant chain and was expecting to be back home today, but one of the projects put us behind by a week. I tried to walk the GF thru changing over one of the clients and that did not go over well. Hopefully I'll be back in time to give the Apes a couple of days worth of points but don't count on it. If my name needs to be removed from the list of participants so be it, but I'll still contribute if I can.

all 6 switched over. I ramped up before the switchover and averaged about 54k vs. the 25k I projected. Also, I was doing advmethods at the time. I switched to -bigadv which ought to bump up my production even more. maybe I'll hit 60k on average during the cc. I'm not sure how many cc points we'll get for that, but it will definitely be better than the 25k PPD I was doing before.

4 switched, 4 to go... but there is no way I can run all 8 at once during this time of year, it gets too damn hot. I sure wish the CC was during the winter. I'll try to run as many clients as I can at night, but during the day it'll probably be only 4-5 (Rig1: 1 -bigadv, 1 GPU3 and Rig2: 1 SMP, 1-2 GPU3).
