Just one question, how do I "re-prime" my passkey?

You have to fold 10 work units under the name EVGApes with your passkey.  Alternatively, you can use one of the pre-primed passkeys we have.

Use one of the pre-primed passkeys.  Saves from having to wait to fold 10 reg. smp WU's!

Just jacked the 980x up to 4.15GHz for the competition. I don't think I can go any higher safely with the H50. Still cranks out about 35k points while using GPU3 for the 590 I'm running. I think I should be good for about 60-75k PPD. I really wanted to get to 4.2GHz and knock out the stability club all at once since I got my Gentle Typhoons in yesterday to do push/pull on the H50, but it isn't looking to promising. In Linx with the new binaries I get to 86 degrees max and that is just to unsafe for me to go any higher. Folding I am at 83 max, but running stable at 78 degrees so that makes me happy. I am willing to risk it for the next 15-16 days. Then I will probably go back down to mitigate risk. I was trying to get watercooling done before the competition, but I didn't have the funds in time. I hope my PPD is enough to pull my weight. I only signed up for 55k PPD so I am excited to be pulling almost 20k more than I had planned.

Well I'll be adding my measly 300-500 ppd to the contest. It's not much but I do fold constantly.

edit... shoot, I did my EOC ID wrong I put my name in not the number. It's 444511 if it matters to those that are keeping track.

i was wondering if i run smp 6 on my i7 i wonder will i finish a big adv in time? i used to run them with smp 7 with 2 580's running and finished them in time ... but havent tried to do a big adv with smp 6 , if i use smp 7 with the 3 gpu clients running the gpus get choppy usage due to the cpu pegging out 100% usage ... smp 6 it sits around 90% with the 3 cards folding , just wondering if i should try and do big adv for the cc or just stick with reg smp units?
*thinking about giving a test run starting tonight and see what happens with smp 6 ... or do you think theres no point?*

Being up at 4GHz, you might be able to swing 6 cores. Run it for a couple of % and see how the tpf is affected.

Hey Chimp Challenge participants:

I've read a number of people around the forums saying they will participate but haven't yet signed up.  Please don't forget to register on the sign up page!  It simply helps us to get organized and prepared for the Chimp Challenge.  Also, it is necessary to be registered to be included in the prize drawing at the end of the contest.

I have a 990x just wondering if FAH GPU client tracker counts threads as core....should i put 10 or 5 in the option to use this number of cores...Im running 3 580s also and wanted to only run 5 core (10 threads) on the big adv client

Good point, I can pass LinX at 4.3, but need to drop to 4.1 to insure no failed W/U's ( it will pass some wu's at 4.3, but not all.

Between 74K and 95K per Big adv update, 4 machines each droping one about every 3 days. The above diferance is 4 core vrs 6 core.

I have found for me, SMP big advantage only on all cores, cranks out more PPD than lowering the cores, and adding GPU's. but for this to be team advantagous, you have to watch the contest, and switch to GPU's once you no-longer have time to complete a big adv.

Similar experiences here on my 980X rig with Bigadvs.  If I run a Bigadv with all 12 CPU threads in play and no GPUs, I get ~ 58.5K per day.  Alternatively, if I run standard SMP WUs (all 12 CPU threads enabled), pluis my GTX570 doing GPU WUs, I run ~42K per day.

Hmm. I'm only just starting to fold again this month really, so I have no idea what my PPD would be (I don't run my rig 24/7)...  I see on the OP it mentions the previous few months folding.. if that's the case, perhaps I should wait until next year, because my previous few months are pretty much zero. eep.

Nope!  You should sign up and jump in now!  You don't have to be a veteran folder to join our efforts.  New and dormant folders are encouraged to join us at all times.  We'd love to have you fold with us!!

It may actually help us that your coming back, Sadly the handicap system is designed on team production, past performance, and as such a returning folder although not as bennifical for the stanford cause, are far more beneficial for the chimp challenge cause. that being said, anything anyone does is good, as any work is better than no work.  welcome back. Our only way of defeating the handicap, is going to be vastly increase production, or encourage new folders, or bring back inactive folders, because there points did not figure into the handicap, so they actually count more.

I am really glad you pointed that out . Makes a lot of sense, which changes my strategy on the -bigadv machine..........pulling out some GPU2 cards for the occasion!!!!

Ok I'm convinced, and it's only 10 days so that's sweet. Not sure what to put in the entry as my PPD though? Just the 35,000 I did last month? Does it matter?

...I'll just put 35,000 since I have no idea what to enter for that field.
