The rest of that was inconsequential. or something like that. Still does not excuse the fact that a very Few Team EVGA folders are willing to trash the Team EVGA 'hardfought for' reputation on a losing venture without the Team even getting behind it 51%. If we would pick another way.......I'm in for pissing my personal points away for a competition..... We just don't have a "minority" right to drag the EVGA name into the MU(f'ing)D simply because we could not convince the TEAM that CC this year is a worthy cause this year.

I'm going to try for CC, but if not a lot of people join in, I'll just idle everything through it and then go back to personal points.  Not gonna burn stuff up if it's not for a good run.

Re:Official chimp challenge 2011 thread 2011/04/23 22:57:25 (permalink)
Just so everybody is straight on this, it is not a team consensus type thing going on here. We have a LOT of folders on our team and a very small percentage actually frequent the forums and even fewer tend to participate in contests. It would be great if we could get a majority of our folders to join in on these types of things, but it is not necessary to have it for us to still be able to participate. Also keep in mind that nobody HAS to sign up on the page put together by troy8d to be able to fold under the EVGApes name. If someone wants to quietly put their efforts forward without putting their name on the list it's fine with me. Regardless, there will be a contingent of folders folding for EVGApes for this year's CC.

We can do all the specualation we want, but it will not affect how the CC will be run this year. All we can do, as individuals who choose to participate, is make sure we're ready to put forward the best effort we can. This was always intended to be a fun competition that brought teams together to have some friendly rivalries. I know I had a lot of fun chatting with members of other teams throughout the contest last year, so that's why I decided to come back for my second go round at it.

Last year, we completed our 20mil in something like 3.5 days while other teams kept going for, I think, about a month to get there. Because of this disparity, changes were needed to ensure that there would even be a competition this year. We may not agree with what rules and points systems have been in place, but that is what the team captains discussed and decided on. If there are problems with the scoring situation, I'm sure all of the teams will see it when the competition is completed and adjustments will be made for next years CC.

Please don't use the points system as a reason not to fold in this year's CC. If you want to fold in a competition between several different teams, then please set your clients to EVGApes for the May 5-15 period and join in on some of the friendly banter on any chat systems set up for the CC (the HardwareCanucks one was pretty fun last year).

Re:Official chimp challenge 2011 thread 2011/04/24 04:20:02 (permalink)
I 100% agree with rjbelans on this.  As a team, we have a large contingent of folders that have already committed to this years Chimp Challenge and EVGA will be represented this year whether any individual chooses to participate or not.  Withholding participation is not going to impact that decision, it has already been made.  Personally, I urge every individual out there to take a few days out of folding for themselves to give back to the community that has provided so much to its folders.  Lets also be sure not be critical of those that chose not to participate for whatever reason.  As long as they keep folding, at the end of the day folding is folding no matter what name its under.  Lets keep what truly matters in perspective here.

Please don't mistake my criticism of the points system as a lack of support for EVGA's effort in this year's Chimp Challenge.  As I said before, I am 100% behind the team's effort here.  I simply wish that people were able to see that we don't have to wait until the house is burning to realize there is something wrong...

Regardless of the outcome of the Chimp Challenge, lets kick back fold some proteins and have a good time!

Ah, hell.  I figure I can blow some breakers too.  I may not have everything going (power/heat concerns), but I will have enough going that there will be fans in the breaker box.

Not sure what's up here, I switched to EVGApes to prime my pass key, ran 10 or so, and switched back to my own name to wait on the 5th, ( well actualy 3rd ) but since the switch back I havent got a single big adv bonus. Do I have to prime all over again, and will I have to go through this again when i switch back to EVGApes ???

KMoore, check your client.cfg files to see if there is something set wrong in there. It should keep giving you bonus.

I'll look again, I am using the tracker, I could understand it, if this was happening on one system, but it's happening on 4, so I'm not sure what would have messed up 4 unique independent Config clients.

In your client config, is it set to allow for big wus, and is -advmethods disabled, as it can override the bigadv flag?

You betcha it does for CC and everyday Team points too.  56% of our daily Team points come from people that are Folding between (1) to (5,999) points in daily avg points production.  This Team's strength comes from a very nice cross section of Folders and you are part of that crew!

As usual, count me in. Right now I'm doing around 17000PPD if I leave my computer on 24/7. But it's getting a little bit harder since my electricity bill went up quite much. I even struggle to get the 150K / month and I still don't know if it's normal or I don't have the clients configured right...
I've switched from a GTX460 to a GTX560 and the crunching time went down to hours 2+/unit instead of 3+/unit.
Also I'm using the i5-2500K for additional points with clients 6.23 and 6.34.
Anyway, go EVGApes!
