Please tell me we are not agreeing to these Rules Next year? we dropped 4x what 1st place has, and then the 9th place people only have 100K less than 1st place! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong with this scoring system?
And the 2nd place team has 2 million fewer total folded than us yet has twice as many Gimp Points .. wait, what?

Ok so I just checked the stats. We have about half of what 1st place has. Were in 4th atm but looking at our production I see EVGApes making a come back about into day 5 of the contest giving the rest of the teams a run for there money.

The system as it is now is hurting the [link=mailto:Folding@Home]Folding@Home[/link] project, teams that are willing to do anything to get ahead will stop doing WU so they will not have to produce as may points to get a CC point, and for the ones that say that wouldn't happen I say Oh,yes it will grasshopper, yes it will!

Hello to all EVGApes Folders - just a few thoughts about this chimp challange right now in May 2011: As we all now, May can be quite hot, not just only in Europe, because of the high temp. right now outside during daytime I ask me, why the challenge takes place right now. My 8 test machines are of course also calcultating for the Chimp Challence, normaly just for general folding (great ideology and help for the institution anyway, thats no question. My test rigs run 24/7 but I installed a "safe blocker" as soon as the temps are not anymore in a safe range, the machines are going down, e.g. will be shutdown. When I'm not at home it won't start anymore. I need to manually start for "night" calculating for the chimp challenge. I invest quite a lot of money, and don't won't to go over limit of the components or damage them - to replace the components is just too expensive - could buy a middleclass car for all that money I invested - but yeah, it's a hobby and also for my profession and customers. My rigs calculating now for the chimp challange (EVGApes) are: 1) all equipped with ANTEC 1200 PSU OC and some with in Win Commander 1500 Watt PSU and Intel SSD and all, wich are not watercooled, the cpu will be cooled by a Noctua NH-D14. 2) two sysmtes are watercooled and the radiator MORA3 is integrated into the window with 18 fans for a) and b) 3) all systems with Win 7 64 and FAH Tracker V2 latest version (3.52) working room (sometimes it feels like in a desert near Las Vegas in high summer (30°grad celsius) a) EVGA SR-2, 2x XEON X5680, 4x EVGA gtx 580 HC2, 24GB RAM - watercooled b) P6T7 WS Supercomputer, i7 980x Hc, 4x EVGA GTX 480 HC, 12 GB RAM - watercooled c) P6X58D-E, i7 975 EE, 1x GTX 480, 1x GTX 580, 12 GB RAM, air cooled cellar: d) GA-X58A-UD5, i7 950, 2x EVGA GTX 480, 12 GB RAM, air cooled e) M4N98TD EVO, AMD X6 1090T, 2x GTX 480, 8 GB RAM, air cooled garage: f) EVGA E762 4-way-SLI, i7 980X, 4x GTX580, 12 GB RAM, air cooled g) M4N82 Deluxe, AMD x6 1090T, 2x GTX 460, 8 GB RAM, air cooled h) M4N98TD EVO, AMD X6 1090T, 2x GTX 470, 8 GB RAM, air cooled So, all was quite expensive and I ask myself, why not starting the chimp challenge in Jan, Feb. March or Oct., Sept., Nov. when the temps are lower? Well, I have not yet received the electric bill - this will be a sort of shock, of course :-)))) I do not want to risk a damage of one of the component (GPUS are cooled with additional fans) as already mentioned This I don't understand - we could do more, if some machines, especially mine when air is cooler, they will stop during daytime when temps are going higher, the system will go down. Barbarossa gave me already an answer but I want to mention this input again here. Perhaps also an issue others may have and we do not have an acceptable place as stated on the graph (currently place 4) - have not yet calculated how many xxx'xxx ppd all my machines are producing, but they are quite a lot, in case all are running. Just an input from my side..... happy calculating and hopefully we'll win ...even when some systems will go down because of the higher temps we have now - or shall with build up a calculation center in the arctic? :-)) Cheers, Cyberlion Sorry, for the English writting, but I guess, you all get the point - German explaining would be a bit easier for me :-))) PS: And yeah, wish you all a nice "cold" sunny weekend (it's motherday tomorrow) :-) PPS: Neighbours asked me a few times, If I have installed a calculation center for whole Switzerland because of the noise (open windows)
aaaaargh - first electricity bill shock because of intensive folding - guess I need to extend/upgrade my photovoltaic power system - current daily power consumption when all servers are running at the same time: ~ 6.8 KW/h

Cyberlion, the CC was set up by a couple of teams to get a friendly competition going. I think it just happened to be coming up to cinqo de mayo (May 5th celebration) so they used that as a start date. It has turned into a reason to keep full folding going for just a little longer before ramping down due to the summer heat in the Northern hemisphere. If it got moved, other teams in other parts of the world would be at a disadvantage. At least it's not at a time when anybody is really at an extreme and gets a big disadvantage.

We're up while they appear to have run into a wall? Yeah, that's mighty pimp. So, has the general discourse over there cleaned up any? I was getting pretty fed up with the 'EVGA baiting' in combination with how many EVGA folders I saw falling for it . . . I mean, really, if they could be a bit more creative about it, I'd at least chuckle and play along, but really, folks . . .
