Hello all...I too would like to purchase (or get for free) the pci power adapter. I have the EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI X58. I just recently installed 2 EVGA 580 in sli and am loving it!  Currently have no problems and am using the Antec High Current Pro HCP-1200 to power these...holding off overclocking the cards until I know for sure about this power issue.

I have a 758 with sli gtx 470's, soon to be sli gtx 570's when it is my time to step up. Maybe a third 570 down the road. I will need one adapter.

Hi all how is this plug adapter coming, is it going to be out soon
or after xmas or in jan. 2011.
looks like one of my E760 boards is melting it's plug so I took one
GTX 480 out and changed the ext. cable that was melting and all is OK again running fine with one in that system so far.
Thank god for that ext. cable on the power supply and then to the motherbaord. the other system still ok.

OK I am interested in how this mod works. I have seen the solder solution you linked to, but I don't think this thing ppls are signing up for is that. Does it plug into a PCI or PCIe slot? I would like to see a pic of one, and that other thread is over 30 pages long, Link please! Could you edit it into your OP? I am not currently wanting one of these, but perhaps for my toolkit next year.

Lost an Antec TPQ 1200 power supply last week. Antec has approved an RMA. No melted pins on the 24-pin connector, but it just failed after an hour into a gaming session. I went looking for answers and found Donta's thread and this sign-up thread. Put me down for one EVGA.

i installed mine in the pcie x1 slot and works great. took my 11.98 +12 to 12.04 stable. lead is short so i modded mine. upgraded the 18 guage wire to 14 guage and made it 18" instead of 6. works like a charm.

Ahhh, there it is. Thank you whodaddy, and KMoore4318:  That's what I am talkin' about. Had to be a PCIe connector, injects more current directly into the PCIe bus.

man that thing is small to. bout 1/2 tall and maybe 2" wide. fits nicly under the double slot gpus.

Man, this is astonishing!! KMcCrackan post a valid point and the next poster flys right in and states: "EVGA didn't have to supply anyone with a powerboost or free one, so be thankful they produced one."
That's bullcrap!!! EVGA is a profitable worldwide company, and they SHOULD distribute these things in such a way that doesn't burden its customer base. I work at a state prison clocking over 9 hours a day, and if I even look at a Barney video on the net I'm thrown into an investigation. So now, I have to wait and worry that this mod isn't posted at 9 a.m., because if it is, all 75 will probably be gone by the time I get home 9+ hours later. This is not right!!
Of course, jrmitchell1983 doesn't have to worry, he was one of the "chosen" ones and got his first.
This whole mod distribution process comes straight from a comic book!
