quote=Governator] johnksss thanks, forgot to change that to water. Ditto on the clock, very nice and was going to say, no way with some of the clocks I'm seeing recently that they are on air. BTW, are you volt modding in any way John? Which app are you using to oc? I ask only because I've tried just about everything and I simply cannot get much past 1790 on core without vantage locking up, and it baffles me on how you're doing it, thanks. not sure, but i have a koolance block and i only use the evga precision and eleet SniperOZ johnksss johnksss ----------------- i7 980X@ 4.818 ----- (1) 480 2000/2280 ------------- 25949--- 97044--- P31767 Water Nice work john . That stinks john. I have a dead 480 HC FTW that failed somewhat similarly. No big bang here but when overclocking, the rig just gave up, powered off, and would not boot with the bad card in the mobo if it had power. Unpowered it was OK. I still need to contact EVGA about RMAing it, just been a bit tied up with other random things.

Bummer John. Curious what block you went with and the max temp while running Vantage? I guess you might be chilling the card?

Just a question out of curiousity, does the size of the monitor affect the score in Advantage. So to put it simply a 19" monitor at the default resolution will give you the same score as a 30" monitor at the same default resolution.

John with that kind of load, I'd want GFI outlets and also may want to consider those industrial surge suppressors that affix directly to the wall panel, those of which are used often on Holmes on Homes. I'm having some electrical work done here a few weeks and will do the same.

it was just luck of the draw im thinking. and have ran 1650W with all the other stuff running. and had no issues before. periodically a breaker would reset, due to parts of the house on the same breaker. this room alone is probably drawing close to 3500 to 5000 watts with everything running. and im using multiple outlets as well. to help balance the load. outlets being on different breakers. no need for electrical work here..

I don't understand how any are able to OC at that core on air with that low a voltage without the VRMs crapping out. I too have the Koolance block and get excellent temps but cannot get past 1790 on core. So when you say air, what exactly was your setup, are you just referring to the regular OEM heatsink and nothing else, no external box or portable fans blowing onto the pc box? For future posts I think that a distinction should be drawn to exactly what setup one is using for their cooling so others if they wish can try and recreate the settings rather than just saying "I'm on air or water".

I can run 900 MHz core clock (therefore 1800 MHz processor clock) on the stock cooler at 1.150 VGPU. This is stable as well - passed one hour in the EVGA OC Scanner with power draw enabled at 1024 x 1024. The problem is E-LEET is too buggy to use so I uninstalled it. I'm now running 1.138 VGPU via MSI Afterburner and running 863/1726/1050. This is the most I can get out of 1.138v.

John you forget, it's 900x2 for 1800 clock and my guess he's obviously using Eleet with it that high. nope, i did not forget, but when the card runs warm, it takes far more voltage. even on air, i was 925/2200 @ 1.1138 Sorry, but 1800 isn't exactly a low overclock. <---yes it is, vs 2000 @ 1.2 volts I don't understand how any are able to OC at that core on air with that low a voltage without the VRMs crapping out. <--because, over clocking is far more than just upping and downing your clocks. it's base off of a few more variables than just that. i have explained this many times. So when you say air, what exactly was your setup, are you just referring to the regular OEM heatsink <---the first set of rounds, with stock heat sink and fan and nothing else. 1800/2200 on room temp air and fans at 100 percent. my max over clock with cold air pointing at it. and nothing else, no external box or portable fans blowing onto the pc box? <--not sure what your trying to get at, but if you want the numbers, then get creative. For future posts I think that a distinction should be drawn to exactly what setup one is using for their cooling so others if they wish can try and recreate the settings rather than just saying "I'm on air or water". <--not gonna happen. way to many scenarios for this. water temp room temp air temp case temp out side temp card temp how many fans how many pumps chiller phase ln2 le dice morning noon night how much power setups how many cards and the list goes on.... side note: guys...use eleet to set you main voltages..then exit out of it. then the rest will work fine. try a more balanced over clock first. try the 1800/2100 at 1.1137 to 1.1500 you should be able to pull this off with some good numbers...depending on what you have set in the bios and what your running your ram at..ram can cause many potential over clocks to fail.
