Kram your score is posted. Incase anyone is wondering why I have not posted a new score I have no video output and am waiting until tomorrow to trouble shoot with new cards. I think that a second 480HC has bit the dust.

kram36 I didn't have everything setup for doing hard benching. Not only that, but either parallel cooling 2 cards in SLi is a bad move or this video card I just received has an issue. The card I just got ran about 26°C hotter then my other card during the Vantage run. Did you setup the parallel lines with input on the right side and output on the left side (or vice versa?)

no parallel! series. and test the new card by itself first. (rule of thumb) might be allot more work, but at least you know where you stand first.

damn!. i have been trying 1820 shader but no luck. went up to 1.8v and crashes at the very end of calico. i think i need to let it cool down and I guess go 1.9. Unfortunately i'm also still limited by air cooled cpu so 4.3 is about all i can do safely unless i kill the electric bill. One day i'll set the house to 50 and get it to 4.5 again :)

I'm looking at moving the psu to the top of the case. Issue there is I have a XSPC RX320 mounted at the inside top of my case.

Yeah, that's a tight fit. Is it the bottom card that runs the hottest? The path through the bottom does have more resistance than just flowing solely through the top but I don't have enough experience tinkering with parallel vs. serial to be able to say anything with certainty. If it were me, I'd unplug power to the cool card and see if it was somehow polluting the hot card's water (though I suspect not). It's easier than draining and reconfiguring for serial but I think you'll end up needing to try serial anyway to troubleshoot. FWIW parallel gave me only a tiny decrease in temps even with twin 655s. I can't say which is better in the parallel vs. serial argument but I think the answer is most likely different when considering the high pressure drop FTW blocks vs. other blocks with lower pressure drop.

I just did a Vantage run with my 24/7 settings. Cards are at 875/1750/2120 and since I added the 2nd card I had to bump the voltage from 1.100 to 1.150 or I get rendering issues, cpu is at 4Ghz with H/T off. The 2nd card is much hotter under load.

Path of least resistance kram...the water, I imagine, lingers for too long in the second card.

Might still have a path of least resistance issue in that config regardless of which block you use IMHO. edit: just saw your edit... so it's not just me with the loose VRM screws... I really do think there's an issue with the extreme heat swings loosening the screws up. I guess it's time to bring out the loctite blue.

Yeah, so service.futuremark.com is still down for me here from my home connection. It's been like that for at least 2-3 hours. Just a heads-up. Also, looking for some commentary from you other 980x guys. My chip went a bit over 4ghz on stock voltage (nice!) and does 4.4ghz on 1.325v. Anything higher seems to be taking quite a bit more voltage per step, as with most chips. Do those voltages/clocks line up with what you guys saw? FWIW I am using a 28x multiplier, it just seemed to clock up much easier than putting everything in BCLK. Also, using CoreTemp it looks like the chip is doing some multiplier throttling even with CxE disabled. When it's idling CoreTemp shows a 12x multiplier and only jumps to 28 under load; however, it also throttles back to 26.5 every 4-20 seconds and then immediately back to 28. E-leet says 28x all the way, but it bounces between 28.00 and 28.0 on the display at about the same time that CoreTemp says the processor is throttling back to 26.5... so clearly E-leet is seeing something change as well. Idk which program is "correct" but I figured I'd throw it out and request commentary. Anyway, I just have to say that this Gulftown is absolutely impressive. I wish I would have had the balls to just buy the 980x up front instead of the 960!

Yah, good idea for card mobility for sure. kram, you have an x58 classified right? You should be able to just disable that PCIe slot and remove power for individual card testing too.

diynoob Yeah, so service.futuremark.com is still down for me here from my home connection. I'm currently working on getting my vcore down on my 980. It takes a lot of work, but I think it is worthwhile. The jumps are big in the upper 4ghz range. My 4.8Ghz is at 1.65 now, which is high I am finding. I can do 1.6, but then a third of the time it will crap out on vantage cpu 1 test. And you know there is nothing worse than finishing a personal best gpu 1 & 2 test just to have cpu 1 freeze up....so I run 1.65 and basically have a guaranteed finish after gpu 1 & 2. When I go to 5Ghz on other benchmarks, I'm at 1.85v! I need to be colder up yonder in the hinterlands of 5Ghz and beyond to get my vcore down at those frequencies. I can't really comment on anything south of 4.6Ghz as I never really benched the chip lower than that. Do you have everything (cpu) disabled in BIOS? speedstep too?

Yessir... everything disabled. The weird thing is that @ 28x Turbo mode is greyed out, but enabled. If I go to 25x, it's not greyed out but it is enabled. I can disable it there, but as soon as I flip back to 28x it's enabled again. When I check E-leet turbo mode is enabled but all the core multipliers are set to my default of 28x. If I disable turbo mode in E-leet, I max out at the stock multiplier of 25x (but Coretemp still shows it bouncing, this time between 24x and 25x). Is this default behavior for an unlocked chip running above the stock multiplier? And holy cow, a 5ghz 980 is a beautiful thought!
