well i was able to get my voltage down a good bit. i was able to run fully stable vantage @900mhz at 1.156v down from 1.22v. I have been trying to get 910mhz and went up to 1.175v with no luck. room is getting too hot so ill try again later. SniperOZ Thanks iride...... hombredelassrtas I think my next step is distilled ice cubes in the res ;) Plate heat exchanger ftw :) Gonna order one this week or next but I need to solve some other rig issues first. Nice thing about the plate exchanger is you can use non-distilled or not be concerned about contaminates in the ice. Nothing touches your existing loop but the cold. The larger Koolance plate exchanger can dissipate over 4kw with a meager delta T of 20* and 1gpm flow rate!

BTW quick question for you guys with a ton of Vantage runs under the belt. I'm starting to notice Vantage scores go down after clock increases. What are you guys' thoughts on this, and what's the remedy? More voltage or less? Also, is Vantage so scalable that you'll only run as fast as your slowest card? I stopped syncing my OCs in Afterburner so I could tweak my fastest card up a few more notches than the slowest, but now I see that the faster card has dropped in utilization (maybe waiting on the slower card?) and my scores for those runs were pretty much the same. Any insight appreciated!

hmmm that heat exchanger is nifty. I was partially joking about the distilled ice cubes but also somewhat serious ;) I figured if i keep the res 2/3 full and drop them in when one melts i suck out some water with the turkey baster (clean new and use it just to add water to the system) that way it doesn't overfill :D

I'm sure your approach could work. I wonder how fast the ice will melt though.

my res heats up decently fast. would have to do a cold start with some cubes in it initially and quickly do the run sucking out water adding in more cubes. probably need to have a good amount of ice a paper towels handy. possibly another set of hands how exactly does the heat exchanger work? is it just like a rad but uses a 2nd liquid? so you would need 2 loops?

yep.. exactly... Oversimplified, that plate heat exchanger is basically a single radiator with two independent loops running through it. No liquid is shared between the loops, they just share the plates which allows them to share heat. Instead of running a fan through the heat exchanger you run cool liquid through it and the heat from your main loop is carried away with the liquid going through the other loop. All you'd really need to run it is a second pump, a bucket, and some hose/fittings. You can disconnect the second loop when you're done benching... seems like a nice compromise between a chiller setup and regular radiator setup. A bucket full of ice = chiller on demand

Thanks guys on a side note ....diynoob ......this is what i was running about 10 months ago so your idea is sound and it will work but you will need to prep for condensation because it works very well !!!!...... depending on what you have in you loop And this is what i run now although i only run it this cold when benching CPU .... the GPU's have way to much heat to let me bring it down to below zero....(the temp on the LED is high because i need to disconnect it for sub zero runs)

WOW Q nice .. your still going.... he..he yes very baby steps......but every step is better than the last hombredelassrtas spec friggn tacular setup sniper. i may look into that heat exchanger ... hmmm. you can just put it inline with the current radiator setup right? so i just disconnect the 2nd loop when not needed and wont need to drain the system or anything each time right? Thanks Mate.........yeah thats how I had mine setup, but BE CAREFULwith the temps, depending on were your radiator is, it could go very bad. Mine was at the top of the system, and at the end of a couple of hour benching, I looked in and saw water sitting on top of the video card PCB,.....ahhhhh... ... I shut everything down and was VERY LUCKY no damage. ... ... It turned out that cold water running through a radiator...can get a little (or a lot) of Condensation in the radiator fins, and with the fans on, it blows it down were you DON'T want it...... After that i made sure to turn my fans off (And found that it got colder, the ambient temp through the Radiator was actually warming the water up.) Plus a bit of paper towel siting on top of the GPU PCB worked a treat......And finally bypassing the radiator was the best way because it was still warming up the temps.......Quick disconnects work well, for all these alternatives Cheers
