iride would LN2/DICE scores be fair on here? I don't have a 480, but looking to get pots soon(about a month), and a new build(for parents) might help get me a 480 to bench.

Yes LN2 & DICE are fair game. Since some are on water & chilled water already.

Thanks

Hahaha yeah, especially since he's got a 980X. But I bet even a 4.5Ghz i7 920 could catch him if the 480 was clocked @ 1200 Mhz.

I don't think so, Halo.  And especially not with physx enabled.  But, if you want to try and prove me wrong.........you'll have to beat me to the DICE first!

Green screen is too much voltage.  You should be under 1.2v for 1850.  Your card can do doubt do it, you may need a little cold.

Tempting to just order that Koolance pot and put my WC on hold... The pot + insulation would cost about the same as the WC gear, might just have to cheap out on the WC..

At 1800 i'm at 1.2 flat. I have had however not messed with pwm too much. It was stock on that run. What would you anticipate my pwm and voltage should be at 1850? I don't want to end up like John and fry something  ;)

@ Halo, Depends on what you use your machine for....if you want to bench, get the pot.  If you need it 24/7, then watercool.

You ever find a 295 water block?

Nope. I've been unsuccessful so far. I want to bench and this is my 24/7, but I have everything I need for WC except a radiator, and fittings/tubing. So I'm thinking maybe I'll just start with a Swiftec 320 or 420 since I'll have just the board and CPU, and just get a pot as well. Regarding the 295 I think I'm just going to get a Tek 9 6.66 for it.

All I know is, if I increase my pwm even 1 tick, I get what you call the green screen.  I'd leave pwm alone, as it sounds like you may be experiencing the same thing as me.

You might try lower than 1.2v  Like 1.1625 or 1.16875.  Just because it can pass at 1.2v, doesn't mean that's the most efficient voltage.

this is completely true though i still cant get 925 stable even at 1.2 :( You maybe right on temp as it is a hair warm in my room. the gpu maxed around 56 on vantage this last time. Are you using a water chiller?

Unfortunately now it seems i'm out gunned by either WC cpu 920's or air/water 980's

Yes, I'm using a chiller, but it doesn't take much cold to stabilize your clocks.  Even going from 70F to 60F will do wonders.  Your 480 is on water, but your cpu is not?

hey thanks guys for your help means alot. Yeah i just went water thanks to a nice graduation gift from a bunch of friends. It paid for the gpu loop but i'm out of law school loans  and am taking the bar now so no income for cpu/mobo ;). Right now 4.3 is pretty much all i feel comfortable running the cpu on the megahalem. 4.4 takes a significant voltage bump (similar to 4.1-4.2 too a decent jump) In the winter i went to 4.5 but its abit warmer now here in florida. I do think the chiller idea is good but out of budget at the moment.

I do think the chiller idea is good but out of budget at the moment.

Will it run vantage at 4.5ghz now?  Just change it back after benching.  And yes, you will need healthy voltage bumps to get in the mid 4's on air.

I just added up my chiller expense (I already had the a/c, cooler, tubing, clamps).  The insulating materials, fluid & pump ran $350...ouch

It will do 4.4 but 4.5 is abit too hot at the moment on vantage. i guess i could push it. figured more headway on the gpu as temps seem still decently low
