I thought so. I was going to ask. That gives you an unfair advantage over those who are actually just running true dual SLI and not a hybrid TRI sli mode.

I agree with this.  Score should not be counted as a 'true' dual sli score.  3 470's are in the system

it doesn't matter, his score would have been the same even if he just used two cards, their is only one test that uses physx and that is the second cpu crash and burn and it will only use one gpu at a time

Edit: if anything he will have less performance with all three cards in at one time since only one card will run at 16x and the other at 8x, instead of 16x, 16x he would get with 2 cards

Actually you're incorrect. Normally PhysX runs on GPU 1. So those of us just running two cards have the rendering and PhysX running on GPU 1  during the test while in his case rendering is done on the GPU's alone with another GPU just running PhysX.  That is why his CPU and GPU scores are inflated over what they should be. Simply looking at the ORB results proves that. It's never been accepted to run TRI SLI for dual card runs . Why should we change what has been the standard?  Of course, the easy to prove you're correct is for him to run another run at the exact same clocks with only two cards installed. If his score is higher, you're right. If it's lower, I'm right.

Maybe I'm not understanding something.  With these new drivers and 3way sli, can you run in 2way sli and dedicate your 3rd card for physx?  Or, is he just setting physx to run on the 3rd card in his physx settings?  If the answere to my second question is yes, then its seems like he would still be using 3way sli thru the graphics tests and physx running on card 3 during the second cpu run.  Basically, if you're running 3way sli u must be able to run it in 2way with card 3 doing nothing but physx.  Not trying to argue but unless a 3way system can be set to run in 2way (and maybe it can) it just doesnt seem quite fair.  Anyway, thanx for keeping track of all this.  I've got another update coming in a sec. lol

Yes you can. In the 3D settings, you can now select which GPU's to run CUDA and in the SLI control you can select which GPU to run PhysX.

in the physics section of ncp you can dedicate either gpu for physics or even your cpu to do the physics, i was just trying out different settings to see what would happen, i clearly stated what i had done...i told ajr23 that if he felt it was unfair,  to take it down, i have no problem with that

Absolutely. I'm not trying to cast any aspersions your way. You were upfront in how you ran the the benches. But IMO it's pretty clear that allowing the PhysX GPU to be solely dedicated to just PhysX versus both rendering and PhysX is going to give a bit of an advantage. Admittedly it's not much...but I just spent $1000 on a 980 (should be here Wednesday) and I'll be damned if some whipper snapper is gonna keep me off the top of the pile...heh heh just kidding.

yeah, but i wasn't complaining you had it, nor was i saying that it was unfair to put a quad core up against a hex core chip, which it clearly is, so where do you draw the line...from what i gather then nobody can use any separate card for physics and be in this list????

yeah, but i wasn't complaining you had it, nor was i saying that it was unfair to put a quad core up against a hex core chip, which it clearly is, so where do you draw the line...from what i gather then nobody can use any separate card for physics and be in this list????

It says 2 way Sli in nvcp, so that's good enough for me. There is no way a 4c/8t cpu is going to hang with the 980x, so let them cry

Just to stir the pot, it's always been about the GPU configuration not the processor used. Another point is prior to this driver, using a dedicated PhysX card mean using one that was a different GPU and 99% of the time, less powerful than your slot 1 card or your cards in SLI which would lower your Vantage score.

We have never had a  gpu with this much performance. I really think a 980x is needed to bring out the full potential of the 400 series cards. Just look at the top single 480 score, it's higher than any single 295 score.
