Could someone confirm that the 780 classifieds on Amazon are using Samsung vram and not whatever that other one was that everyone complains?

Re: Official EVGA GTX 780 Classified Thread 2013/10/27 11:30:45 (permalink)
I got my 780 Classifieds (2) a week or two ago.  One had to be RMA'd immediately (great EVGA tech support!).

ASIC Quality of the card I returned: 74.2%
ASIC Quality of 2nd card I purchased new: 68.4%
ASIC Quality of the card I received on RMA for the first one: 79.8%

I know we aren't supposed to be rating these cards per ASIC, but that kind of ticks me off that one is that low.  I mean I thought I was getting "binned" cards that would be in the 80s.  high 70s, ok...  But 60s?

Re: Official EVGA GTX 780 Classified Thread 2013/10/27 15:22:15 (permalink)
Mine both cards from EVGA are 75% ASIC.
GTX580 1536MB 75.5% and GTX780 Classified 75.9%. :(.
But people say that mean nothing, maybe some check cards with higher ASIC can't go for Classified if they really look careful.
If that mean something and if really higher ASIC is better, than under 80% is bad.

Yes. And, it is covered under warranty for you to remove the air cooler and switch to hydro, and then back. Just remember to hold onto yhe original air cooler and screws as those are required for warranty service.

EVGA GTX780 Classified 560e on Caseking...

Finally NVIDIA is forced to drop price. Now they will lose all earning on overpriced cards and customers stay without performance.
Because NVIDIA NO REASON TO GIVE US FULL GK110. Soon GTX780 Classified SLI for Titan price.
Only on one moment imagine full GK110 (April 2013) for 1000$ and Titan specification as 780 Classified model 750$ (June 2103).
AMD R9-290X weaker than two NVIDIA high end cards or same as weaker, NVIDIA winner crown, customers MORE THAN SATISFIED not some of them feel cheated.
AMD earning again as HD7970.

Maybe someone else can try but with every 100MHz more OC Video Memory GPU Score in Firestrike Performance increase for about 180 points.
That is not little, defference from good and bad Video Memory can be 600-700 points if someone can OC +250 and some other +700 example.
Bad.
Example my score with +0 and + 200MHz memory is 205 points difference in GPU Score.
That remove me out of competition with someone who have batch with nice Samsung even with 20% better GPU OC.

Good news for me, the backplates did not make my temps go up like they did on my 680 classy's.

ALSO

Silly question... Is it ok to leave the classified cards in LN2 mode or is it best to leave them in normal mode?

Either mode is fine. LN2 mode just gives you more headroom to overclock.

I've been trying to get my LED's to work with the software for the GTX 780 Classified Hydro Copper and nothing.  Can someone say something about this?  It's been over a month of me posting about this but no answer.

Also, I noticed another EVBot Firmware version P28 that is for the "Classified Graphics" while EVGA_Jacob posted on here that for the GTX 780's Classified it's version P26.  Can I get a verification on that as well as I am not sure which one to do.  Mind you I am not using a EVGA motherboard.  This is strictly for the EVGA EVBot and the GTX 780 Classified Hydro Copper.

Thanks.

I was planning to get the classified with an EK nickel-plexi waterblock... BUT look at these pics

the Classy block

and the gtx780 SC

What really bugs me is that half of the flow is covered on the classy block.
Im doing a reversed atx build which means the block will be facing up..
Am i being silly here for choosing the SC instead just because of the esthetics ??

What do you think guys?

Tell me about it.    That's when they came out only 2+ months ago being delayed for so long at $100+ more than they are now.  Double wammy, shoot self in foot twice and very disappointed.  And I bought the SLI Bridge for looks really to be able to control it as well.  Meh..... GASP!

It will surely make me think next time I go buying for a GPU.  I can't even get 60 FPS in surround with this overpriced tech.  Very disappointing.

Already slapped mine in and benching, just got it from amazon nov 1st. So far I'm very happy with it, hitting 1275mhz core/6.9 ghz on the ram,  Stock bios(the green led one), just upped my power/temp targ, typed in the offsets. Gpu-z showing 1.16 volts at 99% load, and ASIC on this board is 70.1%
Is there any way to tell besides popping the cooler off? Think this one is a beast ocer for air either way. Haven't even begun tweaking it yet really imo. So far ran tessellation+ DoF in ocscanner for bout an hour, it was reporting artifacts at 1.3ghz, but keep in mind, haven't added any juice yet. Elpida or samsung I'm very happy with the results, especially with the ram.

Hopefully someone who put a block on their classy can help me; does the reinforcing plate have thermal pads for the ram AND mosfets? I am considering watercooling and wondering if I can get away with leaving the plate on for some passive cooling and putting a universal block on the GPU...

Thanks.

My classy seems to clock well but I get pretty annoying resonance when fan speed is at 40-45% (which is pretty frequently). I have noticed a few other people reporting this problem. Is this likely to go away? Is it worth an RMA? Am I just as likely to get another card that does the same thing?

I am on the verge of moving into watercooling but still don't like the fact that it is doing this out of the box...

Re: Official EVGA GTX 780 Classified Thread 2013/11/06 14:19:59 (permalink)
Ok, so I took the plunge and bought a 780 Classy at $579 (currently in route from Newegg) because my EVGA GTX580 1.5gb was feeling long in the tooth. I also decided to buy a Benq XL2420TE 144Hz 1080p monitor to compliment it. My biggest concern is a possible bottleneck somewhere (specifically CPU/Mobo) from the rest of my system. If you guys would be cool enough to help me, do you think that I have much to worry about?

OS: Windows 7 64-bit Pro

My system is currently air cooled but I do have a "Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler" which may help with mild OC, if needed/wanted. With the new monitor, I do not have any current plans to go multiple display or even stepping up to glorious 1440p+ in the near future. My gaming interests are BF4, Skyrim (modded all to hell and back with ENB and such), Metro:LL, and upcoming games like Star Citizen, etc. Thank you for any responses and happy to be joining the 780 Classy Club!

You only need to peel off any plastic that is covering the thermal pads. The other plastic pads on the bottom of the backplate should be left on.
