I usually go for the non tax charging vendors.  For me thats newegg and EVGA in NY. There shouldn't be and differences any bundles that would come with a purchase are usually through nvidia anyway.

Any information on 780 Classified availability in Europe? Seems that the card has been out of stock for weeks/months now pretty much everywhere and even the shop here on evga.com haven't had it in stock for a long time. I actually emailed the EU support and they didn't have any information about this which seems strange.

Does anyone know if the Classified will run normal in SLI with say a Gigabyte GTX 780 OC?
The OC runs at 954 and can easily be OC'ed to match the classifieds 993

Just a little FYI, the Classys come out of the box at ~1150MHz, not the 993 advertised. If you can get your vanilla card to 1150 easily, then it may be possible, though you'd have to get an answer from someone else on that.

OC'ing in SLI doesn't work as well as a single card.  In other words you may have trouble OC'ing your other card to match the classified even if that OC works in single card mode.

Sold both my Classifieds, wasn't happy with them and also the leds were annoying. Maybe going back to regular (SC) ACX cards, or try a different brand.

Yah what's up with the LEDs, do they have any use?

Are you refering to with GPU boost, or the GPU clock speed one sees on GPU-Z under Gpu core?

That I was not aware of, maybe I'll just stick to single card till I can find both that are the same.

Thanks guys

Hi Ladies and Gents,

We just sent another 20 units of the 780 Classified with ACX to Amazon. They should start to show up next week on the web, as they went to warehouses in TN and PA. Wanna give em' time to make the trip out to the east coast.

Thanks for your patience guys, keep close tabs on Amazon and good luck!

do you plan on sending any more 780 classified hydro coppers to newegg? theyve been out of stock so long it says discontinued.

I don't manage Newegg, but I can tell you that I see stock there as of today, 10/2 at 10:20AM PST. These cards take a little longer to build because they're higher quality, but we try to get them in stock ASAP.

FYI,

Looks like Amazon removed the photo showing the backplate now, so the gallery on there should accurately reflect what you're getting in the box.

As always, hit me up if you guys spot anything else out of whack on Amazon.

I just purchased two 780 Classified Hydro Coppers from Amazon and noticed the product description is for the ACX cooler version (it talks about the ACX cooler instead of the Hydro Copper waterblock).

Thank you for catching that, I'll can the info on ACX, since this doesn't apply to the HC card.

You know you can get the Hydro Copper version of the 780 with all that for cheaper than buying it all separately and not have to worry about assembly or messing something up during assembly. The GTX 780 Dual Classified Hydro Copper (p/n 03G-P4-3789-KR) is available now on the EVGA store. This is the same card as the dual classified with ACX cooler, but with the Hydro Copper waterblock already installed instead of the ACX cooler. It also includes a backplate. As I said this is cheaper than buying all those parts separately.

Just a question, how often do you restock your EU online store witrh the 780 Classified, because EU amazon is selling it at up to 980euros and that's definitely not something I can justify buying.

So for test purposes, i turned on my brothers PC to play on his gtx 670 rig and it was night/day. Im sure the 780 classified will even be more impressive!! cant wait........

Milfec,

I manage the US side of Amazon, so I couldn't speak as to why their price is higher or their availability. That being said, stock is always tied to availability. As soon as EVGA US or EU gets their hands on cards, they go on the web. If you specifically want to know when they'll be back on the EU site, I'd check with our EU team.

IMHO that is the typical name of the game for EVGA : keeping  the stock in EU low and  the prices  high. Has always been like that ..
I have had the chance to test two Classys   here in  EU, both were not bought on EVGA.eu.com .
Both were  having not good chips and  that spoiled the OC "fun".  Playing  699 € silicon lottery is not  for me.
For such an expensive card  EVGA should   do at least SOME  binning, selecting  the  chips.

EVBOT vs Classified_voltage 2013/10/08 15:02:46 (permalink)
I know there is a dedicated forum for EVBot questions.  But since my question is for the Classified overvolting software, and you guys are using that, I figured this was the best place to ask.

EVBOT vs Classified_voltage

What are the up and downsides to these two methods?  I'm really torn between ordering an EVBOT, or just using the software tuner.

2x GTX 780 Classifieds on air only.  About 95% of the time the machine is used for software development, CAD, cryptography (loved the CUDA cores for this!), and log home building.

I've read where neither one holds the voltage during reboot or startup.  EVBOT does have a "memory" profile of sorts.

Does the software method remember its previous settings on reboot/startup?

Which one gives the easiest experience if all you want to do is boot, overclock, overvolt, set fans to 80%, and game for a few hours?  (That is, after you have dialed in exactly what voltage you want)  I'm thinking the EVBOT since it has some type of profile memory?

Yes, I do plan on changing the bios.  Though, I;ll most likely edit my own (did that for my 580 Hydrocoppers for 1.2V).  I'm actually a fan of the built-in overvolting/overclocking that the boost does by default on the 600 series, so I'll start simply with a higher power target and go from there.  I saw Skyn3t's versions, but I don't want to disable the Boost just yet.

I'm also tinkered with NVIDIA's SDK.  I "hear" that EVGA got around Nvidia's restrictions by open-sourcing/opening up this ability for the software to control voltages.  What I am saying is, I'd be willing to write my own program using the SDK to "automate" the voltages and such.  I just need a nudge in the right direction.  I found the Precision SDK stuff but haven't dipped into it yet.

EVBot you can set up profiles. Like set it up so both cards are at 1.35v then save it. Then when you shut off the PC and turn it back on, just hit the profile button and load, it will set everyone back that you saved.  Also, if you reboot, it will stick.  Only have to reload settings if you lose power completely to the cards.
Also, if you OC, like im know you are more than likely going to, the top card is going to get very hot and may throttle (or quickly become unstable especially over 1400Mhz) if you are planning on staying with air. ACX design isnt the best for SLI.

I never used the other software so I cant comment on that.

Thanks buddy.  Ok, that sold me on the profiles and "press of a button" changes.  Purchased!

"lose power completely"  Do you mean pull the power cord or remove the card?  Shut down retains power to the machine, so that is fine right?  So the EVBOT tool does not have a simple little battery?  Anyone ever make a mod to install a keep-alive battery?

EVBot you can set up profiles. Like set it up so both cards are at 1.35v then save it. Then when you shut off the PC and turn it back on, just hit the profile button and load, it will set everyone back that you saved.  Also, if you reboot, it will stick.  Only have to reload settings if you lose power completely to the cards.
Also, if you OC, like im know you are more than likely going to, the top card is going to get very hot and may throttle (or quickly become unstable especially over 1400Mhz) if you are planning on staying with air. ACX design isnt the best for SLI.

No, if you shut down the PC, then it loses the EVBOT changes. The PC still has power, but the video cards lose whatever power it needs to keep those changes.  The EVBOT itself is powered by the video card, it has no battery in it that im aware, just non volitile flash memory im assuming. It will only turn on when the cards are powered on.

If someone have GTX780 on EVGA Z77 FTW can give me advice for PCIe 3.0.
In BIOS to leave on Auto or better to manual set Gen3 for PEG. GPU-Z show PCI-E 3.0x16 @ x16 3.0.

As far as the newly announced HDMI 2.0 goes on the GTX 780 Classified... it's looking like it will just be a simple firmware update, but can anyone confirm this?  I will be purchasing a 4K TV soon and want to know if my SLI 780s will be able to provide a 120Hz signal (60fps... right?) for the TV over HDMI, because I know the 1.4 spec capped out at 60Hz. (30fps?)  I know Display Port can already provide the necessary bandwidth, but that would basically limit my TV options to one.

EDIT: Also, would using a Display Port to HDMI adapter work to transmit the 120Hz signal?  That way I can use any TV with HDMI 2.0 and just convert out of the Display Port on my 780.

I don't know about support for HDMI 2.0, but you seem to have your facts confused. The frequency in hertz is going to be the same as the FPS; hertz is a unit that measures repetitions per second, so the two are the same. So a (true) 120Hz signal would be 120 FPS. I say 'true' because TVs usually aren't truly 120Hz. Most TVs that say 120Hz just up-process a 60Hz signal.

GAH, knew I forgot something!

Yes, this is for the EVGA US store. As always, check with the EU team regarding availability on that side of the pond.
