Any of you have the corsair air 540 case? I'm trying to see what kind of temps people are getting with the classifieds or cards with the acx coolers on them. With my x79 dark board on the way and the 4820k coming out soon. I really need to decide on a case.

GTX Classified Controller works, the voltage don't show up on software yet. You set the voltage and hit apply if your using more than one card you have to do each card separate from the drop down box.

Why hasn't EVGA sent a GTX 780 Classified w ACX cooler sample to guru3d ? The card has been out for well over a month approaching 2 and before release your competitor has given multiple samples of the 780 Lightning to reliable review sites including my fav guru3d. I know the card itself is in high demand but here's my theory (chime in guys whether you agree or disagree): the data on the 780 Classified compared to the 780 SC w ACX cooler will not look very good in terms of empirical improvement. Whereas the lightning obviously kills it. It's like EVGA is afraid to allow the card to be compared apples to apples which guru3d is very good at. They have strategically not had the Classified available at the same reviewers with the lightning it seems. Admin guy EVGA_JacobF, if you could be so kind, please shed some light (throw some water on the fire here that's upsetting me and probably many others) as to why you would send a sample to ninja lane who is inconsistent at best compared to guru3d. Mr Hagadoon (guru3d author) was more than kind enough to explain (a month ago he emailed me back within a couple of days) that you hadn't sent the sample you promised back in July and said to be patient which I have been. I know he's busy but he put the review out on the 780 Lightning pretty quick and seems really on it. Bottom line for me. Send a sample to guru3d to show you aren't playing marketing games with your audience please. You are playing with loyalty down the line here. I'm still willing to pay more but I want to see some data first (ninjalane's setup is weaker than guru3ds and makes the card actually look bad compared to the lightning so far) and if you hold out long enough for whatever reasons I don't want to have to buy the Lightning on principle but within the next week I probably will have to! (not meant to sound threatening, who the hell am I to even try, just expressing my frustration). Thanks in advance for you feedback (EVGA JacobF and others!)

couple of questions guys first, the hydro copper blocks DO include the vrm area in the loop? from what i can tell they are completely separated and require passive cooling. second, this is more directed at evga staff :P, when can we expect more hydro copper classifieds in stock? newegg says theyre discontinued, and amazon shows them as shipping in 2 to 5 weeks, and the evga store is on auto notify :(

All hydro blocks were designed by Swiftech/EVGA to keep the card cool where it's needed. Obviously in some cases there's barely any air going to the card since it's in a custom water cooled rig. It's up to the user if they want to blow air to the card as well. It is not needed if that answers question.

Anyhow I think most of the 780 classifieds will do 1500MHz with enough voltage on water. Szeged

I think the sweet spot though will be 1400-1450, as 1500+ requires a bigger jump in voltage and temps, and doesn't net such a large return.

"The channel isn't in the copper, and thus doesn't require copper to connect the cooled portions." I don't get what your saying here, how are they cooled if it isn't connected to the block through the plastic or something? In the photo they look passively cooled and from what I understand they are passively cooled, heard this from a guy that took his hydro-copper apart.. Unless he don't know what he is talking about either, lol So far I've benched Valley at 1480MHz but I haven't tried pushing my cards to 1500MHz yet. What's your voltage set at and what kind of score do you get with 3Dmark fire strike at 1500MHz?

This is for EVGA Staff. I currently own 2 GTX 780s one is a reference model in my gaming pc and the other is a Classified I have had to return 3 Classifieds because they used the Elpidia memory over the Samsung. When will you guys go back to using the Samsung as I am using the Classifieds on my bench and the Elpidia memory only OC half of what the Samsung memory does that I have in both my ref model and Classified. My ref model even OC more then the Classifieds I had with the Elpidia memory. I know Kingpin was given Classifieds with Samsung memory when he hit tops spots in his bench. Its not right that you guys gave all this Samsung memory cards to reviewers and then made a few cards with it then went with inferior memory brand. Hopefully you guys go back to using the Samsung memory as I would love to purchase 2 more Classifieds so I can put my liquid nitrogen to good use and try to beat Kingpins record or at least get close. I have been trying to find used Classifieds and willing to pay way more then what they sell for new just for the Samsung memory but sadly have not found any. Again please go back to Samsung memory the Classified is suppose to be the high grade card and yet it is getting corners cut.

I think what Andrew is saying is that there is a channel in the plexi top that the water travels through to get to the VRM plate. Maybe this is something JacobF could shed some light on? I know EVGA use this method of water travelling through the plexi top to a "island" VRM block. This block shows it well in the clear plexi: Edit: mathewjohnson11

Matthew, as has been pointed out many times on this thread and other threads like it on the EVGA forums, it's nothing to do with cost-cutting and preferring one over the other, and has to do with Samsung not having anymore stock of the GDDR5 Memory modules for sale, so they switched to Elpida, it wasn't that they cherry-picked for reviewers and K|ng P|n and rather that they were available at that time, and they are not available now. As mentioned by JacobF, they will start making more PCB's with Samsung Memory when it becomes available again. Nothing to do with cost or preferential treatment.

From my understanding the Elipda's perform well once correctly cooled, so if you are planning on running LN2. I'm not seeing the issue. Also, if you plan on beating Vince, I hope you have seriously deep pockets, as he gets to cherry pick classy's to set those records, so you will need more than 1 classy with samsung mem to break it. You'll need to buy quite a few to get one that can clock that high. Not saying it can't be done, just saying buying 3 cards is only going to be the tip of the iceberg when chasing world records. As for when the Sammy mem will be back, I don't know. I'll leave that for the EVGA guy's to answer.

Sadly my wallett is aware as I have gone through $6000 not including cost of ln2 blocks or components or the thermos and ln2. I now own 4 3930k till I bought one with a good imc and great oc so I am aware of the money issue but its my hobby and I may not never break it this go around but eventually I may building knowledge and skill along the way. I have gotten in the top 25 on 3dmark with ref cards only using air cooling but really wanting the classifieds before I start throwing things under ln2.

Your not the only one that sees it this way, evga knew they only had so much memory and if they want to play dumb that's fine but to use it on the first reviewed cards is straight up bogus on there part. I still can't believe evga did this, they should of used the Elpidia memory for reviews the stuff they planned on selling to us the public the ones reading the reviews, seems like a plain and simple bait and switch because if it wasn't they would of told us we weren't getting the memory used in the reviews and your bench scores my differ, right? I've easily spent over 10k on evga products over the years. My last motherboard was a 780i FTW which I never had an issue with and I was planning on buying a evga Dark but not now, not after this I'm going with another Asus board instead. This will also make me think twice next time I upgrade my video cards because it might not be evga. Oh well live and learn.

Well I am glad someone else agrees I like evga and buy lots of there products and I feel the same way about this being a bait and switch. If they ran out of memory put the card out of stock in my opinion. I rather wait for the samsung memory.

You guys are really blowing this memory thing out of proportion. All AIC's would do the same as EVGA has done when running out of samsung memory. Buy on release next time if you want the good stuff.
