This figures.  The waterblocks might be released today and the backplates are out of stock.

Can someone confirm that more will be coming in with the WB's?

Re:Official EVGA GTX 780 Classified Thread 2013/08/13 19:22:13 (permalink)
Hello everyone and sorry my english.
I have started to play a little with the 780 classy. I managed to get it stable with no artifacts with 1075 core and 1800 memory clock, without changing the volt, gained some great performance on that. However, when I try to change the volt using the GTX classified controller OR evga precision software, I get real problems. My stock volt on GTX classy controller is 0.8375, when I change it to 1.0 or above, and start playing a game, then I get artifacts, lockups and driver stopped responding etc on stock clock.

So now I try to figure out what's causing it. I'm suspucios on this setting on my motherboard bios: "GPU VOLTAGE", it's been set to 1.0V. May that be the cause I get these problems, motherboard not giving enough voltage to the GPU? Reason I ask is because I can't find any info on net anyone having this setting in motherboard bios and this kind of problem.

For your Problems:
Do you have this issues with a fresh system start? (shutdown and boot)
I noticed that the controller tool set the voltage for the card until you shutdown your system. Please try again with a fresh boot and then only adjust the voltage in the Precision tool (up to 1.2V should be enough for basic testing).
Or maybe it's a driver issue. You should try to re-install the drivers and presicion. After that set the voltage only in precision, to see if it's a driver related issue.

For the GTX Classified Controller tool:
Do you have the GPU power saving Settings on? With no load the card clocks down to 2D clocks and voltage. When you're starting the Classified Voltage Controller in "2D-Mode", you see the idle voltage and not the load voltage. The Default 3D voltage should be 1.150 or 1.163. You can try to turn off the power saving settings in the nvidia driver or start the EVGA OC Scanner to get the 3D clocks and voltage. Then you should see the "real"(3D) voltage in the Classified Voltage Controller tool. I would not mix up Precision and the controller tool to set the voltages.

1150Mhz at 1.150v here. 84.1% ASIC quality.

This is with the 320.49 drivers. I might install 326.41 if I encounter any issues.

Anyone else willing to share their cards stock boost speeds?

Yep, I saw that too. It better not, because if it does I'm going to be royally pissed, as not only did I get screwed out of $70 by not waiting for the HC Classy, I will have also wasted 10 evga bucks by using them on the ProbeIT.

Has nobody done 4-Way SLI with the GTX-780 Classified yet?

Has anyone at least done 3-Way SLI? I want to see what temps etc. are like when the GPUs are sandwiched together with the ACX coolers.

Come on.. someone out there must have done at least 3-Way SLI w/ the GTX-780 Classified (if not 4-Way SLI).

Thanks man for your very useful info, what may have happened is that I upped the 2D volt instead of 3D, now I understand.

FYI to everyone. I got my new waterblocks installed and finally got to use EVBOT and not start a fire.

So it seems the max OC i can get is 1410Mhz at 1.35v at the cards (1.3v evbot) There is a ton of room for more power, as the cards only get up to 38C at that OC with the EVGA waterblocks, however, they throttle at the 115% power target!

Anyone else having similar results? Think we need a Firmware update for these for 130% power target =)

Crezno, have you pushed above 1.35v? It should give you more room. Or, there is a bios out there with a fully unlocked power target.

I would suggest everyone check out the Overclock.net Classy thread (http://www.overclock.net/...assified-owners-club). There are links and info about increased Power Target bios and ones that disable boost altogether.

Hey man, is that a single D5 powering your 2 GPUs and CPU loop?  That's what I planned on doing but wasn't sure it had enough pressure for the size of the loop.

Andrew_K - No i havent gone past 1.35v, when I do cards throttle back to the 1200's since they hit 115% even faster. I havent messed with my bios.

Jerkman - Yes its a single MCP655. I have it set to 3 of 5 and it flows very fast. Its enough to probably power 2x what i have already.

Also, I dont know if anyone else has noticed, but even with the WB on, the backplates get extremely hot. Too hot to touch even.  Not going to OC past where i am till tomorrow when i get some more passive heat sinks to glue on the backplate.

Can you post a wider shot of your rig please?  I'd like to see your order.
