He does not need to be banned really. People are like that, especially on the internet. Its really nothing new and nothing I have not seen in the past.
My biggest issue is I let him get to me.. and well that's what trolls do.. but that's my fault, I allowed it.
My honest opinion about the whole concept of a race has not changed. You can't expect to get a team of 500 people in one place and and 50 person team in another and have a productivity race that's remotely fair. It's never going to happen especially when cheating is encouraged and called recruiting.
You cant possibly regulate who does what with folding@home. It would call for massive speculation on who has what... and how is that any better then what we have now. It will be witch hunt after witch hunt.
What will happen is this. you "try" to prevent ringers. well... just how do you know its a ringer and not a returning big hitter. or a new person with awesome machines. How much speculation will you commit to before deciding they are or are not a ringer for the group?
What if i got permitting from work and suddenly started pumping out 50 million PPD by my self. I would certainly look like a ringer wouldn't I.
anyway.. i promised my self i would try and stay out of it.
I made my thoughts clear, that it should be an event. That getting visible corporate sponsorship would help legitimize it to people who do not know about it.
Before i started folding.. i had no clue who [H] was, didn't care and no offence intended to the brilliant folks over at [H], really I still don't care. They are as important to me as any other forum that has information I need. I don't dislike them or like them. I respect their knowledge and appreciate their willingness to share information.
I knew overclock.net had a folding team but .. who cares.
I knew about overclockers.com never really used their site tho and now i likely never will because of someone that likely is not even a big part of fit.
It boils down to I knew about folding but ... why bother.
What changed? Installed a new video card and wow.. EVGA has a folding team. ohh wow that puts folding as more then just some internet dorks trying hopelessly to make a difference. Maybe there is something to it..
EVGA is why i started folding they gave me the confidence that i am not here thinking i am helping humanity when in fact i am helping shady people do shady things.
Just saying... you can not go wrong if you get trusted names backing the project.
