The contest will start within at midnight (Eastern Time US) on December 1st
So any Task that Starts Before this time do not count or the do count?
If they do not count then do we all need to turn OFF All of our Rigs up to 24 hours before midnight (Eastern Time US)?
Sucks to keep getting only P8101

They all ways have counted. You just can not turn the computer off and hold a few WU's for the start.
Be nice if my 16 cores servers would still get p8101s, but hell they do 60k ppd now days when I do fire em up.

It's the times like this, the competitions... where I really loathe Cores 15 and 18.

I'll fold it all anyway because I wanna get the science done, but damn if the competitive urge doesn't rise on occasion.

Post Number 3,000... How do I note that?  Imma click Fold on the system.  Yesterday, I let all 3 GPU's pick up work units, just to test them on x99.  Had 2 core 17 and one core 15.  Now, I click fold to get the competition running with a fresh install of everything.

Lucky... Picked up all core 18's :-) they aren't as awesome as Core 17's, but they are thousands of times better than core 15.

*another edit.  Is the start time supposed to be "tonight" because I still can't find the time unless I just overlooked it.

NotFordMan, that is what was confusing me.  I couldn't find that page anywhere, and the links I clicked went to everything labeled for 2011-2012.

So, I paused the WU's at 4% and will start them sometime tomorrow.  It won't be midnight for sure since I have work.

Just a heads up - 007quick, you signed up for the contest as a folder at NCIX, but the rules of the contest state you need to be posting points under EVGA's team (111065) before I can add you to the points system. I'll also be PMing you the same.

Thanks!

When do us Others get allocated a Team?

I think the organizers are probably working on it now.  First they have to fix all the non-numeric PPD numbers in the spreadsheet, do a sanity check (for example there is one entry at 3 million PPD that is probably an error), then see how the zones balance out.

After a full day of folding and some tweeting my estimate PPD is 90000. If it matters to change what I put on the sign up form.

Folding whatever I can :o)

I wouldn't worry about tank. If you pick up any core15's that number will go down. We understand you're just coming back from not folding in a while. Besides, you mtn men could use a few extra points.

Temps have cooled here, all BOINC tasks have finished up, and I am ready to go.  Probably the last time my 4p will run bigadv (if I can get them).  Just scared of the core 15's!

I know it's probably too late. But when I did my PPD calculations I only had 1 760 up and running and was going off of that. Well I now have all 3 going as well as a fair overclock on my 5930k. so that bumped me from 60k PPD up to around 180 to 200k PPD. Sorry if this screws things up. But I didn't want to report 60k and then all of a sudden bam 200k.

Well I did not report for any 980 cards but now have two of them but I am not sure I will have them installed in time.
So my PPD might be low as well.

Got to love the Temperatures in Colorado today. Temps are in Fahrenheit

Eh... one 4p and a 980 starting... (4P is doing it's thing right now)  980 will crank tomorrow when I'm off to work... or later this evening not sure which.  Around Wednesday the second 980 will arrive and I'll pop that in.

Give or take a day or two.  Folding is easy.  This ASIC mining thing... baffles me.

Getting about 150k avg depending on type of work units I pull.  Never folded on this new 970 until 4 days ago.

More storms here. Power outages might be the order of the week. You would think the Cote d'Azur could cope with a bit of rain with its reputation.

Hey guys I got a pm regarding my registration tonight. When I registered I indicated that I normally fold for a different team but wanted to assure you all that I will be changing my team name at midnight tonight for the contest. The field did ask for our normal folding team. I'd have sent a pm back but I can't yet because I don't have enough posts. Happy folding!

I don't think it starts tonight. It starts tomorrow Dec 1 at 12 midnight East time 28 hours from now.
It did not say 12.00 AM Dec 1st 4 hours from now.

Right?

seems a bit strange to miss the first day of the month tho.
Suggestion to the organisers - should be able to add a countdown clock to the site fairly easily. Might avoid this confusion over which midnight we are starting.

007quick - Thanks for the heads up - We'll have to put a placeholder in for you until your first points post, but we're good! Thanks for the info!

Also, 9pm EST has come and gone, the stats are locked in, I'm turning the keys until they don't turn any further, then locking them into place!

As far as official start time, I'm just firing my rigs up to max and letting em rock! I suggest everyone else do the same! Let's crush us some proteins!

And, lads and ladies, All Time Zone affiliations aside, let's have a great time and kick some unsuspecting disease right in between the eyes!

FOLD ON!!!
