Scott_J What does "strategic work unit selection" mean? Meaning your not allowed to cancel low point work units, and only keep the Biggest ones going for maximum possible points throughout the contest.

I got that from the first part of this, You may not pause, stop or otherwise disrupt your normal flow of work units to gain an advantage. (strategic work unit selection is permitted) But I'm wondering what the second part means, unless it's a typo and was meant to say isn't permitted.

the last part is for users that wish to do BIGADV only (no GPU) ...specially in linux doing those bigbetas, or uncheckmarking advmethods in either SMP or GPU that is permitted

Example: If it is nearing the end of the contest and you know you wont be able to finish another -bigadv work unit (some can take days to finish), you CAN switch over to SMP WUs and knock a few of those out. You cannot, however, pause or disrupt normal workflow for strategic reasons.

troy8d - The second rig requires:
- 200 people participating in the contest
- Winner must have folded 9 months or 2 million points with Folding @ EVGA (111065)
*raises hand* for the second rig since I havent folded in the last 9 months due to issues will i be elidgable if i hit 2 million points total for EVGA since i'm currently sitting at 1.5ish? ... and if it is 2 million points total for EVGA regardless of folding duration for EVGA does the 2 million have to be in effect before the start of the Contest and will we elidgable if we hit 2 million during the contest? sorry for all the questions on this ... i would just like to get it straight in my head thanks in advance

As for time off from folding...it does happen for various reasons. If the issue does arise, it will be a judgement call on an individual basis. The basic idea is that one rig is available to all comers and the other gets into the hands of a veteran folder who is dedicated and will put it to good use. So many people have put a great deal of time and effort into folding and into this community, they deserve a little special consideration. For those that are not presently eligible - the requirements are not that steep...stick around here til the next contest and you will qualify then.

the way I read it is if you have 9 month of folding combined or 2 million points not -"folded in the last 9 months"

thanks ... the reason i had asked was as you can tell from my recent record over at EOC the point i have in from the last few months has only been recently as I had finally been able to fire up and get my SR-2 up and running again ... and i was already sitting at around 1.25 million for the longest time due to techinal/financial difficulties up until that time ...

Folding against the CST will be a futile attempt. Especially with Madrias on our side. I can already feel the intense heat of GX2 exhaust getting stronger even 400 miles away, and during the night I see the slightest orange glow no doubt from the heat sync's. So try as you may, We will be standing at the finish line waiting to congratulate you.[sam=001_tt2.gov] GO CST!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I know I left that supercomputer somewhere around the time-flux capicator, or was it by the gamma ray gun. Or was it by the shrink ray. Oh well, the heat it will produce shortly will be felt miles away any way. So it should be easy to find, well thats if it doesn't knock everyone's power out first or cause a meltdown. FTW CST!!!!!

Just entered the contest for EST. Question: Why does the PPD need to be reported? My PPD could vary maybe 10,000 less to 20,000 more than the 250,000 I estimated in registration, I hope what I reported is ok.

Yeah, they're hot runners, but I have 2 plans for them. One depends on 2 people other than me, and the other is a backup plan in case they pull a trick to delay a shipment until after the challenge. Not that I would expect them to do such a thing, but I have to at least have 2 primary plans so that when the battle starts, I can kill both plans and make up my own on the way.

I signed up but sadly my old 64K production is down to around 10K. Souly because if I do fold it will only be on my main pc and it can not run 24/7 because it is what I work on. :( Darn not having a stable job.

This explains why it's still 85 degrees out in October. Can't I get you to point them toward the EST team.

I just want to, once again, impress upon you all the importance of double checking how you entered your folding name. The stated goal is at least 200 folders - That's at least 200 names I'll be checking against the F@H rolls once the contest starts. The more accurate you are, the easier that job is on me. If you DO find you misspelled the name, please PM Troy and the corrections will be made. Secondly, anyone who is participating from other teams, PLEASE make sure you have at least 1 work unit folded for TeamEVGA by at least a week before the contest start date. I can't add you to the statistics program if you don't show up in the data that comes from Stanford. Now, these aren't dealbreakers, (AKA - If you are an outside member and don't get a WU in until the 23rd, I won't exclude you), but meant to keep Troy and I from having to hack at the stats unnecessarily (Work is going balls to the wall - AKA - My team needs to pick up the slack for others mismanagement...). Thank you all for the consideration and, above all else, FOLD ON!! d PS - EST for the win. ;-)
