Well I dont know what is up with my rigs, but I keep finding them sitting idle, no messages as to why they have restarted I will have to look into this further as what I was hoping to produce with a second Xeon 5540 is not anywhere that I hoped...

Man is capable of as much atrocities as he has imagination. People are, well, only human. We know that. The rule of law is borne out in identifying, condemning, and punishing those who violate the standards on which we all agree. This is exactly what we do in America.

We lost two of our hourly updates due to the slush storm that rolled over the northeast last night. 2-3 am stats are missing in action. However, ONLY missing 2 updates? Not too shabby in my book.

I think Punchy was doing some stats stuff of his own, maybe you can check with him and see if he could supply you with them for historical purposes.

Where? Don't see him on the PST contestant list. No mention of the change on the PST thread?? EDIT: Ah.. I see he was added to the bottom of the contestant list, just not the PST list. Eh, I concur with punchy. The whole "balancing" at the start was a joke if that's the case. Don't get me wrong sfield, love the fact that you fold with us and all, but there are entry deadlines for a REASON. You're welcome to fold in any of our contests, just enter in when the rest of us do. (well I remember there was a couple of "late" arrivals, but they got in within a few days, no prize elegibility, which you don't need either..lol) This contest is almost over, a little late in the game to jump in, IMHO. I'm not upset really, just confused.

to quote a famous line "dont panic". the sign-up page is automated, so anyone signing up after the deadline will be added to the master list. unless troy or drougnor add him to a team his name is just chilling on that master list as a "supporter" not a "contestant." (atleast this is what I would assume.) i think the spirit of this "contest" is more along the lines of a family reunion softball game will loose rules set for fun and some organisation. not the MLB world series being played for millions of dollars under strict bylaws and rules. take any changes with a grain of salt and enjoy the fact that some new people are folding for the family/team and others have pushed it into overdrive all being for the same good cause.

I think sfield should definitely be added as requested - the precedent has been set. He probably asked to be added just to stop the flood of PM's asking him to join. However, I think it demonstrates the hazards of late entries, predicted PPD and team balancing; certain combinations of those 3 things just don't mix well. In a case like this, "ignorance is bliss" and "don't ask, don't tell" might apply - simply put people on teams based on their geography and let the points fall where they may, but don't ask for or display predicted PPD and don't balance.

If the projections are accurate, EST will cross the finish line on Guy Fawkes Day, also known as Fireworks Day and Bonfire Night in England. A celebratory day all around. See Wikipedia for the history. Also see its entries for "Anonymous (group)" and "Guy Fawkes Mask" for an image you will recognize in use today.

Exactly where my confusion stems from. So many people were "worried" about exceeding or not meeting their predicted PPD after they entered their stats. For what? Threre's no point if anyone can jump in at any time. Next year, just pick your time zone sign up whenever you want. Who cares? No purchase necessary! Enter as often as you wish!!

Punchy there was NO TEAM BALANCING in the FIRST PLACE EST was over 1Million ahead of PST and MST before the contest started (4.3 estimated versus 2.8) the fact is the projection had them winning from the start (non sequitor)...no one should have had a chance hence the contest is open to help the other teams the plan is to get you troops out...get new converts and ramp up production the fact that EST has both a challenge from below( from way behind) is a testament to how resourceful people and teams can be.
