  • Thanks to Punchy we've got chat on the contest site on the chat page as well as at the bottom of the team stats pages.
  • Though Eastern and Mountain are rapidly approaching the finish line, stats will continue for all teams until they cross the finish line.
  • I'm sure you've all see it by now, but we have a team progress graph and hourly point dump graph up on the site.

Cross your fingers I get my wife pregnant in the next few days, my wife promises to let me have $700 from our savings when she is.

Gonna buy a 2700k & another GTX 460 and fold my behind off... not to mention I'll buy her a laptop since she'll have to take a leave from work and needs something to do... she won't notice if I fold 24/7 on it. She's oblivious to computer stuff.

She might notice if she sees the electricity bill!

Adding $10 or $12 to a $60 electric bill isn't too bad. Besides, according to ME, I'm the boss.

If that's the case, then I'll make 'em happy with what I plan to bring online very soon.

That explains it then.
I'm deselecting Bigadv's and will cruise across the finish line with SMP2's blazing.

Here's to the checkered flag EST.

Do you have a link for that? I just want to see if something may have gotten misinterpreted.

I plan to make a new post in the DAB section here soon (tonight or tomorrow) to ask for more input. This is probably related to what is being discussed at [H].

My understanding right now is that PG would like to see more standard SMP rigs in the mix, but I do not think they are "holding back" bigadv units to accomplish this. As I posted in the discussion about the lack of bigadv units, there is work going on with the servers that is affecting the bigadv units getting assigned. ( http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1298046 )

Thank you for the links.

I will digest them and read the DAB stuff at FF again before starting my thread. Any one who has read through that first one can start formulating what they want to say when I open it up, it is the same discussion topic.

Thanks for sharing the links Barbarossa.  I was at the hospital while my wife was having an outpatient procedure and I was killing time reading over at [H] on my Tablet.  I saw Tobit's comments in those two threads and the bottom line was that Pande has a "priority" on getting some SMPs done right now.  It was my interpretation on the "holding back", but I was basically paraphrasing the result if they were loading the Servers with more SMP WUs or something to put a priority on SMPs.

I'm totally cool with whatever they need to do and I liked Tobit's summary of Bigadv history, how it has created Bigadv junkies of us and that we always should keep focused on the science.  He made me think...yep I'm guilty of being a "points junkie".

The only "official" Pande statement that I've seen (regarding Bigadv shortages) was this one from Kasson:

Re: Wither the bigadv WUs?

by kasson » Sat Oct 29, 2011 7:23 am
We're shifting some servers around, so you may see a slight decrease in bigadv WU availability over the next ~2 weeks. The clients should roll over to standard SMP in the meantime if we run short.

I think I would hold off on buying any i7 for Bigadv cause I think there's going to be some changes coming that alot of folders are not going to like. Min. core like 12 or 16 to do bigadv.

Yeah, from reading those threads over at [H], one could certainly wonder what Pande will need to do in a Bigadv-Folder-rich environment.  I'm always recommending multi-CPU-socket solutions for new Bigadv builds because I feel that one day 6 real cores may not cut it anymore.

Not unless mmillion, x98gulinski, or Barbarossa17 defect to Pacific ... heck, you'd probably need all three to catch them tonight.

Give it your best shot though.

My question is how many are going to say screw you Pande and leave, or start using that program that lets the 2600k run the beta-bigadv.

Ok! the end is getting near..

what I want from members is
who you think had (or submit yourself if necessary):

1.the best Clean Smack talk (Gets the SmackDown)
keep it friendly and not start wars - otherwise we take it away in future contests

2.the best zombie machine(s) (or farm) - pm specs too
3.Best team spirit or contest spirit (give a reason for it)
4. who came to anyone's aid (EMS award)
5. who you think the best underdog(s) (low PPD members that tried their best or outdid themselves)
6. person who's Hardware that went to graveyard - specs/part
7. Best sig (not who made them... but who sportin it) - however this round I will take creators too. (since only a few were making them)
In future Contests it will only be the one displaying the sig (want to get users to submit their own creativity - show some team pride)

I will take multiple suggestions for each...and judges will determine badge earners
Any stats/production badges will be determined by numbers from contest.

I will also take submissions for additional categories for future contests
We will see which ones we will put in practice each contest

Maybe keep a League of Extraordinary Folders List
and list of dead and notable hardware

PM  Xavier Zepherious (NOT TROY) with submission

First things first, I hope your wife is doing well and has a speedy recovery.

I will be posting that DAB tread that I promised this morning. As far as the problems with getting BA wu, please read my post in the thread where the question was first raised ( http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1308807 ). Any further discussions on the future of BA would best be placed in the F@H Discussions section and I can imagine there will surely be a few comments about it in the DAB thread once I post it.

Thank you all for your patience, I think you all great civility and understanding in your posts to this point.

Now let's get back to finishing off this TZC and then get that 11 billion by 11/11/11!

Thanks for the thought RJ and my wife is doing fine.

Also, thanks for clarifying on the Bigadv shortage in the thread you shared.  Makes sense.  I'm looking forward to your post in the DAB thread to see what you know about what is happening.  Some of the people over at [H] who say they are hearing things from Tobit appear to be getting excited about the changes coming and how they would adversely affect EVGA's Folding performance.  I have no idea what they are hearing, so I want to see what you know.  No matter what, our Team is very resourceful and I feel that we can handle future changes (whatever they are).

This is not the appropriate place for the discussions that were taking place. Sorry Troy, we'll try to keep it where it belongs from now on. (right guys?)

I will submit myself since I was an underdog that over achieved on my ppd and daily percentage. Not to mention my gts 450 sc took a crap and died last night. This is the second folding contest that this has happened. How many times do you think I can RMA this card. :) need a better rig dedicated for folding.

First off congrats to EST who smoked the competition. My calcs were wrong in that I thought Pcaific could take 2nd last night. Oh well everyone is a winner either way but EST definitely stepped their game up to stomp everyone. Enjoy my signature and keep having these competitions they are great. Hopefully the EVGA folding team continues to grow and we can all do our part to find cures for the people who so desperately need it. Thank you xavier for PMing me about the competition and thank you Troy for all your hard work. Those shirt designs are ready to go when you are. Fold On!!!!
