KMoore4318 During the first 24 hours of the compatition there will be problems with big advantages hitting, because the start was random to prevent timing of drops, it will take time for the averages to equal out, some people wer lucky enough to have units finish after the contest started, some were not as fortunate. in the end it should all equal out. this is also why some people are still showing 0% and others over 200%. in a day or two we will be able to tell if anyone made a mistake in their estamate. the winner will also be decided by how lucky people are at the end of the contest, and when those Big advantages hit, some will turn off big advantage as the contest draws near the end, to push more smp, and single CPU units if they do not feel like time will alow a compleation, others will not.
I'm not talking about actuals, I'm talking about estimates ("reported PPD" in the spreadsheets now). EST's estimate jumped suddenly from 3.3M to nearly 4M at the last minute. I think I know why and I think it's really poor form to jump in at the last minute and skew things.
I think all team projected points were off to start. When people entered text or weird characters in the cell, it may not have picked it up properly. Also, when I registered it didn't seem to change at all, so you might be seeing my numbers finally included.

Well, with x98gulinski joining (welcome!) with 1M PPD, it just makes it clear that any calculating of projected team PPD is pointless, and balancing is pointless. Now all we need is sfield to join!

Blah. Go figure the days before the challenge I go and F up a GPU. Down to 1 GTX 460 OC'd to 850 MHz and my AMD 1190T OC'd to 3.8 GHz. Hopefully my RMA will come through fast!

Now all we need is sfield to join! I agree, whats the point in trying to balance the system if you leave the door open to unbalance the system. The system should have been locked the moment the teams were balanced. This allows a high hitter to hold out until after the balance. Either way you look at it, mixing time zones only takes away from the concept behind the challenge name. On a different note: I can not see how the prizes will be properly awarded under these conditions. I mean what exactly is my goal? How can I aim to win anything? Do I even have a chance at a prize with only 40K PPD when I can't control what the assignment servers are issuing.

The Time Zone Challenge was created as a inner team contest to boost team moral and try and keep everyone folding through the summer months when some started to back off from heat. Was only meant to increase folding and bring us closer together as a folding family. Nothing brings us closer than folding for bragging rights, makes everyone push that much harder. So Bring it on, CST FTW!
