I remember the last time this happened it was when 3dfx was still in business and had their Multi gpu technology, well ATI came out with theirs and Nvidia's answer was to steal 3DFX's tech so they had a solution. Well Nvidia is at it again this time targeting the modding community stealing code for Ansel. They need to give more than just credit, they owe him money.... they straight up stole his tech, didn't ask, didn't give credit... Shady company once again involved in shady business practices without conscience.

    Sorted out
A few hours ago Marty McFly Modding issued a Facebook status update, as above, saying that the non-credit code theft issue had been "all sorted out". Apparently the modder's code was used for "some testing" by the lead developer of Ansel, and that the copied code was simply "leftover code". The upshot is that "the next Ansel update will have some code removed and me credited, so it's all fine now" said the modder. Marty McFly Modding also felt slightly appeased due to Ansel not being a 'commercial product'.

Do note that 3dfx was bought out by Nvidia then Nvidia began using SLI which was 3dfx tech.

Sounds like Nvidia got on the phone with fat check in hand and said "hay Marty, make this go away." judging by that hugely turned around tweet he made. He went from "im mad" to "well NVidia just tripped over my code while we were drinking a 30 pack, it happens guys. don't stir this up." lol.

Just like 3DFX while it was still in business Nvidia stole their multi gpu tech, the only reason the problem went away is 3DFX was going under and got bought out by nvidia.
In my industry it does not matter if its code/3d model/rig/custom made shader networks/textures, if you steal from anyone and claim it as your own,  you are punished with a blacklist along with getting kicked out the door.

The mod author made the underlining code that Ansel is using, NVIDIA straight up stole it from him, they didn't give him credit, they just acted like they created it all when that was not the truth. You let companies or even individuals keep getting away with things like this they will keep doing it and stealing from others and not giving credit when credit is due. Be it just recognition in credits, a job, compensation, something.

Like someone else has said it looks like nvidia got caught, then paid and gave credit to make this problem go away. Pretty sad tbh because it should had never happened in the first place. So yes at it again, from the 900 series sham, to all the way back in the day of 3DFX, to now the little guy a modder. How many times have they done this to others makes you wonder. So yes they are at it again.

Donta, you're bringing up something in the past. Ok, so Nvidia 'Stole' technology from 3dFX. I think we have established that already. The point being now is that whatever was going back and forth between "Marty McFly" and Nvidia has been settled and an agreement was made. Therefor Nvidia hasn't stolen any new technology (in your case - yet). That we can agree on, right?

The word "stole" is being used very loosely by some people.  I guess I "stole" the gallon of milk from the grocery store when I bought it, since I didn't make it myself.

Ok show me a multi GPU implementation from Nvidia using 3dfx tech. You won't find it all Nvidia used was the SLI name, the actual technology behind it has nothing in common with 3dfx SLI. I think your just angry for no good reason.

On the same note if you took a gallon of milk from the store but got stopped at the door by asset protection where they made you pay for it I guess technically that's not stealing either.  Besides - they say it's not stealing unless you get caught...
