Since the new installer i was advised to turn off Afterburner/Precision then install, ive never been told to restart after install by the installer .Ive had no problems even when doing SLI 480's . Sorry this is happening but i guess i have to ask is either program running on install ?

I have recived the scaning/report program from Jacob
Have been doing installs and testing this afternoon, just getting ready to send in the report files...

Afterburner has been completely uninstalled from my system during these tests.

I am currently running 295.51 as I post this, 3 restarts and testing is so far flawless...
Next up is the cold start test, where it failed the last 2 times I tried it.

wish me luck

Re:Nvidia Drivers and EVGA -Attention EVGA Staff- 2012/02/01 14:48:55 (permalink)
and...   it cold started with the driver loaded!
I did notice some very strange screen flickering (I have never seen before) on ShutDown....
but she did cold boot with 295.51 installed (after 2 unsucessful attempts yesterday and this morning), NVCP confirms the settings SLI/3D held

So what changed?  Hmmm, in my desperation this morning I did install a chipset update (EVGA Intel updater) on the off chance on my last OS reinstall (November) I might have skipped it (doubtful, as its the very first thing I do before even VideoDrivers or Windows Updates), but I -did- do it...
I also did NOT skip the "restart required" notice on the VGA adaptor install (like I always have) and restarted before attempting the 295.51 install...

I will be sending in the 3 log files, one for 285.79, one for 295.51 after installing, setting NVCP and a restart and a final test just run for after doing the Cold Boot....

Typical, try twice.. no luck. Try a third time and it works

I will now test the holy crap out of this tonight

I suspect it may have been not rebooting after the initial vga install. Your symptoms somewhat mimicked that of a corrupt driver store.
I think you've seen folks with a related issue where they get a 'hardware not recognized' issue when trying to install  a newer driver. If you get bored you could try doing your prior install routine and see if you can duplicate the issue.

yes

After testing tonight and if no further issues are seen...
I will certainly go back and test to see if that could have caused it.... have to explain my mistakes

Failed

After maybe 15hrs and at least 10 cold boots, a boot this morning failed to load the driver again at Windows startup.

The exact same failure mode was seen.

But after looking things over very closely this time and not rushing off to reinstall, it appears there may be a network driver issue...
After restarting the network was showing disconnected and as I was looking at it, it came back up. I then restarted and the driver loaded.

*lets just be damn clear none of this crap happens with drivers 285.79 and below

I have just about had it with Nvidia.
If they cannot even write a driver that properly loads into their own hardware, then why the hell would I buy their cards.
The x58 is a established platform and Windows 7 is mature, Nvidias tinkering to solve their OWN DAMN problems will selling borderline silicone that wont work properly with their own powerstate levels, has now appeared to effect my wonderful perfectly working 580's (which have had NONE of the issues their cheaper products have suffered) rendering the newer driversets useless to me...
Up until this point I have been overwhelmingly happy with my 580's and have had -zero- problems with them. Nvidia has now so over complicated their drivers, they dont even work on their high end products....

Great job you stupid idiots

Either the next official signed driver release works correctly without me having to do a damn thing but run the installer..
or I will be wanting a FULL refund

It sounds like after a extensive full shutdown and then boot that windows is not loading the NVIDIA drivers in system services, for whatever reason. Or maybe NVIDIA has there Ned driver hooked to a process that you have disabled/manual setup for. What did Jacob say? Oh, and I commend you for not just throwing a angry rant up and trying to be part of the fix, and not the problem!!! :)

I sent in three log files yesterday, dont expect to hear back so soon.

The frustrating part of all of this, is my system has been flawless for over two years, and now when I boot up I have no idea if its going to properly...

I am putting 285.79 back in, and will wait for the next signed driver before I decide what I am going to do about this.

Hi,
It seems that the BIOS's on each of your cards is different, one in particular is quite old. Any chance you can use the firmware unlocker in the sticky thread to get both of them on the latest?

I dont see why I should have to do that, when I havent had to for over 17 months...

I guess I am willing to try it, I will have to backup my originals first.
And I must say that yanking my cards around and flashing my BIOS is alot of work, just because Nvidia cant write a driver correctly. And of course its a guess right?

And what about the network issue, what the heck have they changed in the driver thats effecting that?

Gee what next from Nvidia...

In order to install your Nvidia driver, please Flash your MB BIOS, remove your cards and heat them with a blow dryer, then push on them slightly in the slot... and your driver should load?

did you ever run that chkdsk /r on your platter drive?

I recall reading somewhere (might even have been in this post) about someone updating their realtek network card drivers and fixing some issue with nvidia drivers. and before that adds more fuel to your nvidia rage, realtek could be doing something improper in their drivers that after certain things happen, causes the nvidia driver to fail.

you said you got more stability out of it by re/installing your chip set drivers? might try that with your network card drivers, or have you done that already

I will be away from my comp till later this afternoon.

When I get back I will flash my cards...

I am currently using the original 2009 network driver for my e760 (because of the known SLI issues)
All I see is the new one here at EVGA from november, should I try that...

I mean really...

Am I going to have to flash my MB BIOS, flash my videocards, install all newer chipset drivers and then reinstall my OS and my software config...

Just to install a graphics driver? When every driver for the last 2 years has worked perfectly?

I will be back after dinner to pick this up again. Thank you for your help and for putting up with me

Please do Jacob, if i can remember correctly, a few (becoming most now) members encountered problems with the network drivers and Nvidia drivers conflicting each other.  Hopefully a solution will be in place.

I had the same issue one time and what caused it was I let "Windows Update" load the Realtek Network drivers that it stated was an update, and it cause the same issue.  I rolled them back and didn't touch them.  Then, EVGA came out with an update and I was able to update with those and had no problems.

Well its not a network issue, comfirmed on a reboot.

As for the other comments...

I dont run AV, so thats not an issue
Its not a realtec issue, as I run the drivers that dont have that problem. Have since I build the board.

I am now back on 285.79 and will start getting ready to proceed

I rolled back my Realtek Network drivers because the "SLI Option" goes away with the newest version.  Very quirky.  Rolled back those drivers and POOF ....SLI Option came right back!

I'm running 290.53 drivers with 2 GTX 470's.  It freezes while surfing (google chrome) and double posts now.  Hoping it will stabilize or I may drop back to 285.79 like manic.  We'll see if it gets worse.

Re:Nvidia Drivers and EVGA -Attention EVGA Staff- 2012/02/04 00:06:14 (permalink)
It is some kind of issue with SLI - X58 (Classified) - NIC combo, I've had this issue for some time now, and have had to do some weird combo, installed remove Video/NIC driver/safe mode craziness to get it to work, I'm a system builder and have built 25+ X58 (EVGA Classified Mobo's) system's (I personally own 4 X58 EVGA Classified systems and all have this problem) and all expierenced the same problem, again at the end of the day I was able to get it to work, but not without trouble, not sure exactly what the cause is or what needs to be done to properly get everything to play nice but I do eventually get it to work...

Also I do not believe I have had any other X58 boards with the same issue, including other EVGA X58 non Classified motherboards only EVGA X58 Classified motherboards

Not to mention the downclock CPU voltage issue that never was fixed with the Classified series, no problems with other EVGA X58 Motherboards just Classified

Maybe now EVGA will look into this? Updated BIOS would be awesome! Maybe even fix the CPU downclock voltage issue and update the ROM's one last time!!! Please and Thank You! :-)

Also want to note I have 2 x E759 1 x E760 and 1 x E770  Classified Motherboards as my personal systems...all the same problem, I believe I have had the most problem with the E760 system

Hey...I bet you anything if you remove one of your 580's and load the latest Realtek NIC and latest Nvidia beta's you will have no issue's (other than issues brought in with this beta) I am more than 100% sure is some kind of compatability issue with SLI X58 and the NIC or even some kind of IRQ issue, not exatly sure but I have been dealing with this issue myself for some time now, I do usually get it to work but...WHAT A PAIN IN THE REAR!!!! I will be following this post, like I stated above I am a system builder and have see this many many time's with the combo of  *SLI* *EVGA X58 Classified* and *Realtek NIC* driver conflict

I'll be more than happy to post all details of all 4 system's and BIOS settings if needed just ask

maniacvvv I dont run AV, so thats not an issue

If you use the internet without any kind of anti-virus package, how can you be sure you don't have a virus hidden somewhere that is causing some of your problems? AV is common sense these days.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that, just have to be sure you are aware of what can happen if you don't protect yourself against malicious software

He seems to be taking the "nope, couldn't be that" approach instead of trying it out.  I have also had this problem and reinstalling the latest NIC drivers instantly gave me the SLI option back.  This was the case despite the fact that I keep all my drivers up to date.

Huh...I can also personally state that NO ISSUES at all with the "issues" you speak of above, no issues loading Drivers nor CPU Voltage downclocking...on 2 X58 Classified Systems (759 / 760)....just dont want to "mislead" the OP in anyway, the issue is obviously not a "sure thing" if some of us have never experience it ;)
