No offense man, but if your system is 100% stable with WHQL drivers 285.79 and prior, why not just stick with them?

I mean you were saying you're going to want a full refund on your 580s.... because you can't load BETA drivers?????

It is in my firm belief that the Marvel NIC causes issues with some drivers for both Marvel and Nvidia depending on the combo. I just got my Intel NIC today. Will never bother with the ****y marvel NIC again ever again.

It is some kind of issue with SLI - X58 (Classified) - NIC combo, I've had this issue for some time now, and have had to do some weird combo, installed remove Video/NIC driver/safe mode craziness to get it to work, I'm a system builder and have built 25+ X58 (EVGA Classified Mobo's) system's (I personally own 4 X58 EVGA Classified systems and all have this problem) and all expierenced the same problem, again at the end of the day I was able to get it to work, but not without trouble, not sure exactly what the cause is or what needs to be done to properly get everything to play nice but I do eventually get it to work...

Also I do not believe I have had any other X58 boards with the same issue, including other EVGA X58 non Classified motherboards only EVGA X58 Classified motherboards

Not to mention the downclock CPU voltage issue that never was fixed with the Classified series, no problems with other EVGA X58 Motherboards just Classified

Maybe now EVGA will look into this? Updated BIOS would be awesome! Maybe even fix the CPU downclock voltage issue and update the ROM's one last time!!! Please and Thank You! :-)

Also want to note I have 2 x E759 1 x E760 and 1 x E770  Classified Motherboards as my personal systems...all the same problem, I believe I have had the most problem with the E760 system

Huh...I can also personally state that NO ISSUES at all with the "issues" you speak of above, no issues loading Drivers nor CPU Voltage downclocking...on 2 X58 Classified Systems (759 / 760)....just dont want to "mislead" the OP in anyway, the issue is obviously not a "sure thing" if some of us have never experience it ;)

It is a known issue...the downclock voltage is anyway...yes sorry I do not want to fall off subject sorry...but it has still not been corrected, take a look  POST #369
http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?&m=659172&mpage=13

Also the driver issue is a real issue, again I'm not 100% what exactly causing it but from my testing it has something to do with SLI - X58 - NIC combo

EVGA certainly stepped forward to help, but due to a prior commitment I had to hold off on some of the suggestions until my current project is finished as I cannot afford for my config to be down at this time.
I am currently back to using 285.79

My commitments should be over around the 14th, and I plan on picking back up the troubleshooting

There was no doubts that EVGA would step in to help, they never stand aside! Just for your information, i installed 295.51 few days ago and i can confirm that driver works flawlessly so far, no temp gains, absolutely no boot issues, fixed some BF3 texture flickering! Best of luck Maniac!

Before setting up SLI.  Just install one card first and download the latest drivers.  Make sure it's working properly before installing the second card.  Once you have the second card installed, enable SLI in the Nvidia Control Panel.

EVGA_JacobF

Hi,
It seems that the BIOS's on each of your cards is different, one in particular is quite old. Any chance you can use the firmware unlocker in the sticky thread to get both of them on the latest?

Both cards updated with a 1.4 fan unlocker

-Exact same error as before-

http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1469247

So I am back where I started, still forced to use 285.79

Suggestion: please update your videocard BIOS
Result: That was not the problem, as the same error occurs.

I await EVGA's next suggestion to resolve this issue, as the signed offical 295.73 Nvidia driver is not working
Nor any Nvidia driver after 285.79

I'm thinking a motherboard BIOS flash is the next step

If that does not work, another complete OS reformat under the new MB BIOS

My SIL shows and enables just fine. Tested with Mark11 and Heaven plus 15hrs in BF3...

I get a code 43 on both cards, and driver failure to load on a cold boot.
Ive put 285.79 back in and am off to play BF3 tonight...

I will pick this up later and be in contact with EVGA during office hours tomorrow

No issues here... For about a years worth or more of drivers... Besides the fact that the 285.79 does work best still for BF3.

Using the new release drivers without an issue whatsoever.
Using EVGA Percision only, and i am running a single EVGA GTX 580 3GB with 1.4 flash bios.
This is my process of installing and uninstalling drivers:
1) Reset Precision OC/Nvidia Control panel settings to default.
2) Uninstall 3D Vision Controler, then 3D vision driver
3) Uninstall Physx, Update,
4) Uninstall HD Audio, reboot
5) Uninstall Graphics Driver, choose restart later, go to C:/ drive and delete Nvidia Folder check program files/x86 folders for any Nvidia folders and delete, reboot
6) Safe Mode, open Driver Sweeper, check ATI Display/Nvidia Display/PhysX. Click Analyse, then clean, reboot
7) On Windows, I pause Antivirus/Malware protection (Until next reboot), unplugged Internet cable from Nic card (no internet service)
8) Proceed to install Nvidia Drivers, click custom, choose clean installation, reboot.
9) Plug internet cable to Nic card. Once on Windows, I use Ccleaner to clean any registry errors in Windows. Reboot,
10) Apply my custom settings, OC on EVGA Precision and game on.

Sure, but you need to sacrifice a hardware to summon him/her....lol.
Part of drivers errors is due to registry problems or other driver conflicting with each other.  Since my GPUs are EVGA, I stick with EVGA software and drivers for any hardware i have from them just to be in the safe side.

When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

My procedure:
Custom install. Check clean install. Uncheck everything but driver, PhysX and HD audio. Install over old driver. Reboot, done.

I have an E-760 as well, and 3 way 560Ti 448 FTw cards. Before that I had 3 way GTX 470's and never had an SLi problem. My current config is............

MB Bios-IX58683      Thats what Aida64 tells me it is,so Im assuming its the newest 83 version.
Realtek driver         7.46.610.2011        this is from the device manager
Chipset 9.1.1.1026    from device manager

I'm running the newest 295.73 w/o issue, but I also have the HD audio on the cards disabled via the device manager as I have no use for them. Also when installing the driver I do one step that you guys do not. When you uninstall the nvidia drivers via the control panel and you restart, then windows tries to install drivers and it cannot and it says you must restart. Dont restart at that point and use driver sweeper,it actually installs parts of the nvidia drivers and fails. Run driver sweeper then reboot then this time windows does not try to install drivers then run the NV setup normally. This may not work for you but hey,its worth a shot I guess.

But on the otherhand Ive installed the NV drivers directly over top of the others and just selected clean install and never had an issue either so to each their own I guess.

I think it has something to do with particular setups with 2 way sli, because Maniac once I got my third 580 in 3 way sli, that error no longer occurs. I didn't change anything just installed the card, and updated the drivers. No problems exist.

The most frustrating part of this failure, is that its completely the fault of the drivers videocard init behavior and the Windows WDM.

This is proven by the facts
100% of drivers for the last 2 years leading up too and including 285.79 have installed, detected and functioned perfectly.
Later driver sets will fail to correctly detect the videocard(s) and properly load the Nvidia driversets.

I have been reading up on this issue.
It appears that Nvidia has begun to use a different method of Windows Boot integration HAL/Init/WDM in preparation for Windows 8 and some of the new Kepler internal driver call's.

One can only hope that this issue is addressed as the drivers move forward....
As I have stated previously, if my Nvidia cards will not function correctly (Install and Load drivers in Windows) with official signed driversets, I will be expecting either replacement cards that will or a full refund.

I completely agree with you, I think the main reason is their main driver support team is actively working on Kepler's drivers, and the EU team has picked up the previous series.
