Word on the [H] forums is you can change the number of cores to use mid-unit (-smp 7, -smp 8, etc.) and it doesn't flush the WU.

The only ones I had problems with were the 2684s and those have been disabled for Linux.

parja I'm seeing PPD down quite a bit from native Linux -bigadv. Currently on a 2684 with my SR-2 dual hex machine and getting TPF of 17:03 for a PPD of 87.5k. So somewhere around a 20-30% PPD drop over A2 -bigadv. Afterburner Man am I confused.. I have always ran -smp 7 -bigadv... Is this now wrong or correct? If you're also GPU folding, then yes, I would still run -smp 7. Otherwise, I'd experiment with 7 and 8 and see what works better. OK. Cool.... I have one system Running the -7 that is also my daily business system in my office, and the other system (Also running a 920 on the -7) has two 260/216's folding. It is my Secretaries computer. So if I understand all this.. I change nothing and will stay the productive course?

jflankford I just switched over to the 2684's. Way too soon for a ppd estimate. I also have to take system down in the morning for the PSU upgrade. I just hope this runs better than on vmware. For myself, was never stable. It looks like it's using 1.6mb of memory. I'm at 18% with 17k ppd. So far everything is looking ok. I think I had 2 wu's out of 3 dump on me by this time using vmware.

Can someone please link me to a step by step guide for setting up the console to get these bigadv units in windows? I ran the console and didn't set advmethods. At the end I set -bigadv and -smp 8 flags. However, the program was only using ~20% of my CPU. Is there anything I'm missing here?

I am trying it now as well. You do not need to do the -7 in windows as it will automatically allow your other programs to work as it is a lower priority than what the pushy VMware did. I am confused on credit - it is supposed to be bigadv, but the credit is sub 9000?

Credit is sub 9000, but goes up with the bonus. Cut-off tpf for the bonus is around 57 min, but you have to allow more time for upload as well

You need to leave the -smp in, just replace the -advmethods with -bigadv. Without the smp you´re getting the uniclient wus (fahcore_78)

Edit: Cleared work folders a few times.. Oh man do I have a lot of failed WUs. Now I have a a3 core. Are these normal smp or bigadv?

Sounds like you should be good to go now. If you're using HFM.NET to monitor, you should see it update with the bonus points in around an hour - just after the first frame completes.

I don't know if if this is a smart place to state this, but I got no firewall or antivirus running, period. I'm still running VMware, folding a3 units until I figure this out. Another strange thing I noticed is this version doesn't seem to require a password, is that right?
