No signal on my monitor when i plug it into my GTX 670

I spent all friday trying to set up my pc. My mobo has two pci-e slots , one is 3.0 x 16 the other one is 2.0 x 4 . My monitor shows : no signal when i plug it into the gpu {bios loads and OS loads , gpu fan functions too.

When i plug my monitor into mobo onboard graphics everything works properly.

Last night i tried another thing , i removed my gpu from pci-e 3.0 x 16 slot to the other slower slot which was pci-e 2.0 x 4 and everything worked like a charm. Graphic card works , signal is on and everything is running. The only problem is that this slot limits my cards power.

I need your wisdom guys ! Is there a faulty part in my build so i can just REM it or is there a solution to fix it somehow ?

My system :

Mobo ASUS P8B75-M LE, Socket-1155

CPU i5 2500k

RAM Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB kit(4GBx2)

PSU XFX ProSeries Core Edition 550W PSU

SSD Crucial v4 SSD 2.5" 128GB SATA 2.0

GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB PhysX CUDA

I have to ask:  Did you try reseating the card in the 3.0 slot?  If you have canned air blow the slot out then reseat the card.

When you have it connected to the motherboard video check the bios to make sure the 3.0 PCI isn't disabled for some reason..

After that I'd try a bios update....

If all that fails you have to assume the slot is bad.

A 2500k isnt PCIe 3.0 ready, you may need to force 2.0 on board bios.

I connected it properly all the time.  updated bios , forced pci 3.0 slot , notin at all happened.
So its because of the 2500k ?

you need to force 2.0 not 3.0 and yes the 2500k could be the cause! Also you could try disabling on board graphics although it should automaticly detect the gpu and work off that

There is no option to force 2.0 or 3.0 . you can only select gen0,gen1,gen2 on pci slot settings. I changed between them few times and nothing changes.
i plugged my gtx 670 into the slower pci-e 2.0 x 16 at 4x speed and i get a 8200-300 gpu score on 3dmark11 P. While the avarage score is 9-10k on the same setting.

My processor struggles even more , i get barely 5k on physics test of the same setting.
When normally people get 7-8k with processor like mine

here is my 3d mark score :
    P7522 3DMarks
    Graphics Score
    8309
    Physics Score
    5868
    Combined Score
    5846

here is the score of a guy with same  2500k processor and same gtx 670 card :
    P9519 3DMarks
    Graphics Score
    10174
    Physics Score
    8048
    Combined Score
    7878

difference is colossal. I had enough brain ****ing for this weekend and so i have decided to take drastic measures. Do you think if i buy a new mobo (that supports my cpu and gpu ) it will fix the poor performance issue ? Cause i think my mobo is the real problem here

Gonna be stupid question but did u try using the VGA plug in first before using a HDMI if u did? I just woke up so im kinda durr at the moment but i know on my system i had to use VGA first then once windows loaded, switch monitor to use HDMI.

You talking about onboard vga output ?
Anyway , would i get performance increase if i changed just the mobo ?

    asusmobogtxforced pci 3.0 slot

Why? Unless you are making heavy use of GPU-compute, you are going to see no significant improvement.

    anandtech
The extra bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 wasn't expected to make any tangible difference in gaming performance and in our tests, it didn't.

    (for just one example)

Thermaltake Xaser VI case (echo...echo...), Asus P9X79, Intel 3930K, 32GB Kingston HyperX, Zalman CNPS12X cos Noctua are fugly, EVGA GTX 970 SC ATX 2.0 4GB, 14TB of HDDs (WD, Hitachi, Seagate), dedicated 160GB 7200rpm swap drive, Dell 27" u2713hmt @ 2560x1440.

Ok that does not matter , fact is , my gtx 670 is not recognized by the mobo when it's in the pci-e x 16 3.0/2.0, it is only recognized by a inferior sister slot which is pci-ex16  x4 mode ! I don't know what x4 mode means but it seems to be inferior since my gpu performance is not similar to same systems as mine.

I am really thinking of  changing the motherboard to a better one next week, do you guys think it's a good idea ?

I don't know much about LGA1155 motherboards, but Asus boards are generally either rock-solid from day 1 to day 1000+, or complete dogs. My suggestion is to RMA the board and see if the replacement is better. OTOH if you can afford to it's a great time to upgrade (but then imnsho it's always a great time to upgrade ). I'm taking a serious look at the EVGA X79 Classified atm.

Looks like im gonna have to RMA the board but ill try to do some little more tweaking. I have a feeling that i might just fix this.
