I think this will be an easy question, but my idle temp is 34C whether I have my 4GHZ OC profile loaded or defaults, is that normal? I'm just worried the temp is being read incorrectly.

There are many variable when it come to cooling case fans heat sinks and even TIM used but even the best needs proper monitoring. I'm not sure what you are using to monitor temps right now but I agree that seems unusual to have the same temp default vs over clocked.

There are a few free programs that are pretty good at reading temps accurately and many that are not.I will recommend below some of the more trusted accurate software's.

    HWmonitor

    Core Temp 0.99.8

My personal favorite for it's On Screen Display & G15 support is Everest Ultimate the paid version but like the rest they all have a free version. The paid version is the most developed and useful IMO of all the above well worth the price of admission.

EVEREST Ultimate Edition - PC Diagnostics

Good Luck! and report back if you still think you have an issue.

Sounds normal, same with my H50, but then a cpu idling is doing nothing whether it's oc'd or not.

Also, if you have the power saving features enabled, C states, Speedstep etc then you would expect them to be the same at idle.
