Ok I'm able to load into windows after I received the bios chip but when I start up it still says no hard disk detected. Pretty strange

go into your bios:

the no hard disk found error can be helped by disabling the eSATA controller.
it's because it's not detecting any hard disk on the eSATA port on the backpanel of your PC

I meant to post earlier but I had a few things that required my attention elsewhere. Everything seems to be running smooth. Windows and drivers installed without a hitch. I am working on getting my ram to work at the intended speed, and have already started working on my OC.

I think you can't get the ram to run at the intended speed yet (you probably have the 2133MHz one)
I recall Matthew saying it was a BIOS issue they were still fixing, and that for now you should run it at 1866

So I just got a message from EVGA europe telling me my pre-flashed bios chip is sent to me, so i'm guessing it should arrive tomorrow.
I'll keep you updated on how that works out.

edit:

this sucks.
despite having giveng Matthew my S/N and Address to which to send the Bios chip,
then calling with EVGA EU to verify that they have received the information and telling them to use that sending address as it's my work address, they managed to send it to the wrong address.

I recently moved to Germany, and hadn't changed my address in the EVGA website (didn't even think i had filled it in)
as such, despite all the times i told them the correct address to deliver, they sent it to my old address in belgium, while i'm living in Munich, right near the EVGA EU Headquarters.

hoping to simply be able to drive by tomorrow and pick up a bios chip while they recall the package or something like that...

I've also got this problem with my board (i've got the SLI, not FTW) not working with USB or the DVD drive, tried all suggested fixes, no dice.
Also already sent an Email to Matthew, hoping i'll get sent a new BIOS chip, because not being able to finish this build is rather frustrating.

@ Rjohnson : you're in the Netherlands too right ?
Did you get your replacement chip nice and fast or did you have to wait a while ?

@Dan Graves: I currently live in Germany. I requested the chip on thursday, with EVGA Europe handling it on friday. and they sent it out yesterday... to my former Belgian address.
turns out that despite the fact that i had given them 4 times the address of delivery in germany, they sent it to the address in my profile (which i didn't remember i had filled in :s)

so basically about 3 days for me, but that's cause i had to wait for the chips to be back in.
it's faster than an RMA imho, unless you cross-ship.

yeah i did that yesterday, after i noticed they sent it to the wrong address.
Just got off the phone with EVGA germany.
At first it seemed i could just go pick it up (I live 15 minutes away from there), but it turns out it's not allowed. they're sending it out today, so I should have it by tomorrow (unless UPS takes more than 1 day for 20 Km.

My contact info hasn't changed in years, so i'll be ok.
Matthew says he forwarded my info to EVGA Europe, so now i'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll get the chip to me fast.
In the mean while, i've been wondering where one finds the BIOS chip on the SLI boards, i haven't seen anything on the board that looks like one...

if you look on this image:

on the lower right side you see the coloured pins for the front panel connections.
the box is rigth above that, against the heatsink (dark grey with doors)

it can be a bit tricky to open, but it will open, just make sure to have your motherboard lying flat because the BIOS chip is really small and if it falls out, it could go anywhere :p

Holy toledo, it's that teeny tiny thing ?
To think i was looking for a chip twice that size, due to the size of the BIOS chip on my 780i SLI...
Well thanks for pointing it out, and i hope you get your chip tomorrow and that it will solve your issues.

Well, still no word from EVGA Europe.
Not very happy, i know they're probably busy, but is it too much to ask that they at least acknowledge they're working on getting me a replacement chip, or that they're working on something ?

Dan: try mailing to support-eu@evga.com
that does tend to get you a reply pretty fast.

I got my chip, and everything resolved itself pretty easily.
At first i thought it didn't but then i realised i'd left my jumper to boot from Bios 2 instead of bios 1. One jumper switch later and i was installing Windows.

Once windows was installed, i did have some USB and sound issues, but the USB issues were resolved after installing the driver package from the included driver CD,
as were the sound issues (it crashed on viewing the recording devices, and i couldn't view any flash in my browser), altough for the sound i had to go to the evga site and redownload the latest drivers again, to install them.

the only remaining issue, which i'll hope they will fix with the next bios release, is the fact that i cant' run my ram at the max 2133, but have to run at 1867, or else my system won't boot.
Anyway, everything here is working a charm, just need to do some more driver updates tonight and then clean up the other 2 hard drives (my previous windows), and reformat them.

hope you get your chip (or news) soon.

My problems were solved as well after getting a new BIOS chip.

I could also upgrade the secondary and tertiary BIOS's now, and tested that they work after doing so.

Thank you.

Well, according to the UPS tracking my replacement chip will be coming in on monday, seems UPS needs the whole weekend to ship from Germany to the Netherlands
But that's between me and UPS, EVGA EU so far seems to be great, Nick replied to my email within the hour and got me a tracking number, which is as quick as the last time i had to contact them.

That is correct Dan. Same thing happened to me. Item was shipped on Friday and I got it Monday. First it has to go to the German central UPS hub which should be tomorrow or Sunday and then from there it goes to the Netherlands.

Ok, BIOS chip arrived in a huge box, installed it, and i can now boot from CD/DVD...
But now i can't install windows (win 7 X64) because during the install my usb keyboard and mouse seem to turn themselves off right as the install asks me to confirm my language and locale selections :-(
(using the USB 2.0 ports)
**** !
Anyone got any suggestions ?

Do you have the keyboard plugged the USB 3.0 ports or USB 2.0 ports? Try the USB 2.0 port and also which keyboard are you using?

Using the USB 2.0 ports rjohnson.
I'm using the Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse.

[edit]found a Razor mouse i had lying around and an old labtec keyboard, these seem to work fine to install...
This mobo sure is being a pain, making everything harder than it needs to be :-/ [/edit]

[edit2]
The back ports seem to lose power once windows starts...
The front ports work fine.
What fresh hell is this ?
The BIOS was the latest (34) [/edit2]

Well, the ports seem to work now with all the driver stuff installed, i'm at a loss...
The USB 3.0 ports don't power off this way, and from what minor tests i've just done the other 2.0 ports on the back seem to now keep their power as well...
Curious.

Thanks for helping though Rjonhson, you rock
