What model RAM do you have? Did you set the timings and voltage as well?

OCZ 14400  a 1,65v, but soon I should change it with the Corsair 16GB quad Channell 17000.
I will have to set it manually then?

EVGA_MatthewH

I had to order more BIOS chips, they should arrive shortly. I will email anyone who requested a chip the moment I get them to ship.

Is there any ETA on the chip delivery, for people in Europe.
After sending Matt an email yesterday, i called with EVGA europe, and they told me most people RMA.
However they also told me they don't have the chips nor the new boards atm.

Personally i would prefer getting the chip rather than RMA, as it saves me having to dismount the entire PC, clean and store the CPU again etc etc.

I also recommend that you wait for the chip ... solve the problem the same as I did ..
The only problem I am having is that my OCZ RAM go to 1066 instead of 1600!
But Corsair Dominator GT 17000 still await

Have you manually set your RAM settings (speed, voltage and timings) in the bios?
that would explain why it only goes at 1066, some motherboards default to that.

cheers

Please list your ram part number as OCZ stopped making ram quite some time ago and as far as I am aware they did not make any compatible ram for the P67, Z68, nor X79 motherboards. They decided to concentrate on SSD technology as there were far too many players in the ram technology field.

I can't seem to find the little grey BIOS box with it's doors that should open on my classified board. Could someone who does know, post a picture of it? As far as I can tell, there is no such box above the front panel connectors.

Thank you in advance.

Put your finger on the red E on the board and trace straight down in the direction of the battery. Its about half way between the E and battery.

If it is the thing I have been thinking it is, then it's almost right above the battery in a opening in the black heatsink? I guess I'm just very cautious when applying pressure, because it has yet to open and since I wasn't sure it was that thing, I was afraid to apply more pressure.

EDIT: Yes, it was the thing I suspected, with a little more confidence I was poking at the right item, I finally got it to open. Thank you. :-)

Final questions then. Is there another brand of ram that works at 2133 or is it all the 2133 ram in general.

Good to know,
I'm having the same type of ram.
At least that's something i will know once EVGA europe contacts me and sends me a BIOS chip,
else i probably would have lost another hour trying to figure out why it wasn't booting

Ok just got the message from EVGA europe that they have received my request and will send me the chip as soon as they have it in stock.
Oddly they don't know when it should arrive, and they seem to be out of boards as well.
I say oddly enough, since Matthew ordered the chips and a day later he already had them and they were sent out.
Seems like the stock delivery in Europe isn't that good :s

crossing my fingers for a fast restock!

They should have a chat with bios-repair.co.uk which has BIOS chips in storage. It's a little disappointing, and should be embarrassing for EVGA Europe that they don't have chips to send out, especially after sending out boards with bad BIOS to a fair amount of customers. I am hoping I get my chip soon.

This whole x79 section should be embarrassing to EVGA. Now having to replace bios chips as they sell every mobo apparently. Ram still not running, at spec months after release, and on and on and on. WOW

Although the bios issue is something I think they should of caught in house, sometimes things like this happen and they are handling how I would expect from a company with exceptional customer service. However the ram issue is pretty unacceptable and the fact that I have to wait for them to fix it before I can use my ram to its full potential upsets me; especially when you consider the fact that these boards have been out for some time now.
