solve is nothing at the moment, from EVGA in my case, I've decided to sent it to my provider and I've decided to change it by MSI X79... In my opinion, this motherboard is a black hole in EVGA reputation.

Digital_trans WOW! Not one good review on any EVGA X79 Motherboards from the user level on this forum. I can say this much, if my new EVGA X79 FTW craps out on me...I'm going to move onto Asus and spend more money for better quality vs. having everything wrong with this motherboard. I hope it does not come to this but from the user level of so many posts of why this board is starting to suck i have my doubts already. Your initial statement is false. I post favorably about the EVGA X79 SLI and I'm also stepping up to the FTW which I will also post about. I love my X79. I find few bugs but mostly users unfamiliar with the new architecture and settings. Once they get that right, it typically works. This isn't X58 ... it's a very different beast in many ways.

For those who are experiencing this, can you try booting using the secondary BIOS? For SLI model flip the jumper, for FTW and Classified flip the switch to secondary position. This problem is BIOS related, and needs to be updated, so hopefully we can get it to boot on the secondary, if not we can send out a BIOS that is already flashed.

just tried both with switch 1, and 2, and 3, but no dice. I can not even update the bios, because I do not boot from usb flash. What to do?

I tried the secondary BIOS before sending the board in for RMA but still couldn't boot from anything. I don't recall the exact version of the BIOS but I do know they were fairly outdated and suspected them to be the issue.

same problem here. Before send it to provider, I've tested secondary bios, and the same result. Tried also to clear or reset BIOS with the described procedure... nothing. Hope you can solve the problem in the future.

If anyone is having this issue please make sure your board is registered ( http://www.evga.com/Support/register.asp) then email me your serial number and confirm your address so I can send you a pre-flashed chip. You can then use the chip to flash the other BIOS on the board.

Had the same issue with x0d. The 3bioses were messed. I just had to press clear cmos button while the system was shutdown but still supplied with power (white led on). Once the button is released the system reboots and voila. Hope it helps some of us.

i was tempted to switch over to sandy bridge, but on newegg i dont think a single EVGA X79 board got good reviews. Ill be sticking with my X58 setup for awhile. Im loyal to EVGA but im skipping this generation.

Please can we have a picture of the chip to be able to understand and a procedure for the installation? It is a method that can solve the problem surely?

Its simple, you open the small cage, remove the chip, and replace it. The cage is located above the front panel connectors, its a small grey box with doors that open. We can also RMA the board if you prefer.

If the method is safe also do not need to RMA the motherboard :)

I'd prefere receiving a replacement chip instead of an RMA, as it will take much longer to RMA the whole bord I reckon, unless its an advanced RMA. Maybe eVGA lets us victims make free use of that service. (?) :o

Not that I don't believe you did, my concern is that switching department with issues like this might get a little draggy. If you tell me I have nothing to worry about, that I get the same treatment from EU eVGA as I would get from the USA department, that they are aware of the issue and the solution to this specific problem, then I am satisfied. Thanks at any rate, at least we are getting a decent support after all.

I still believe blindly in eVGA, and in the X79 Series. This is just a fixable setback, nothing serious I'm sure. Once I got this baby all working and well I'm sure I'll enjoy it as much as I did enjoy my X58 SLI. As always, keep up the good work eVGA! Thanks!
