Decided to spice up my Porsche Boxster S a bit. Ordered in new front and rear bumpers along with new wheels.

Car goes in the body shop February 2nd. Should look pretty sweet!

Looks nice. I would make sure my insurance will cover it if anything should happen. Get into a wreck or someone steals the wheels.

I'm not one for such rims, but the body add-ons look nice. I agree with msim, please check with your insurance.

If someone stole the wheels, my insurance company would be more then happy to buy a new set of these wheels then paying for Porsche OEM wheels.

This is what the front bumper will look like on the car, except my headlights are different and it will not have the fat lower lip on it. Also where it's black at the hood, mine will be silver.

I'd rather not say where I work at, but I will say I've been there for 28 years now.

Owning a late model boxter, while not taking anything away from Kram, is hardly an unachievable car for the average Joe. Different being the average Joe can't afford maintenance or want to do it themselves.
A low mileage 2006 boxter is around 30k which is around the same price a new car is today:

Actually his car cost less than that. He has a 2003. Remember this thread?  Basically like your referring to, its not one of those 100K expensive exotic Porsches.

But good for Kram. I hope he enjoys his modifications. And I certainly love the rims. I love matte black rim as well as the  gun metal rim looks.

I help a buddy at a shop once a week, and I was referring more to the maintenance. All these young kids thing they gotta own that Lexus or BMW until their water cooler alternator goes out and it's 1200-1800 to fix, or a 1000$ brake job. I prefer my Mustang haha. Cheap to maintain, yet still a blast to drive (even in its stock form).

Uhm, yeah you gotta pay to play. But understand this, I am a 20 year old kid, much like you, and I've owned so far 3-4 cars, a G35, a '12 370z, and a '11 G37. Never had major problems, but the amount I saved in problems got put back into the car in performance mods. Honestly, they're not hard to fix or maintain just gotta know how.

Since you did ask him what he does for a living, I will tell you this much. Doesn't matter what you do for a living, what matters is to find something you're good at and enjoy and the money will come. Life's too short to work a crappy job.

You're right, a Boxster of this age isn't expensive, but the maintenance isn't cheap. Check this out though, my car's sticker price new was $61,070.00 in 2003.

This is my car's build sheet. http://admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_sheets/details.php?vin=WP0CB29873U661632

There is zero rust on this car anywhere. I don't know what Porsche does, but the body on them seems to be in a time capsule. Everything in this car functions as it did when new.

I'll keep this car til I die, I'm in love with it. I've owned several cars in my life and never felt the attachment I have with this car. That's why I don't mind sinking money into it for the bumpers and wheels. When the motor goes, I'll replace it.

Speaking of the wheels, 8.5x19 front and 10x19 rear. Tires, Max Performance Summer Tires 235/35ZR19 front and 275/30ZR19 rear. Should help stick better in the twisties.

I have February off and will be working on a full custom complete air box to throttle body and plenum upgrade. Have to add some more power to turn those bigger tires.

Anything is affordable as long as you live within your means and dont get into debt. Within the next 10 years i want to purchase an exotic, But by then i wont have any bills other then utilities and i will be a year or 2 ahead on my mortgage.

I feel you on the maintain end of things kram. My vette isnt cheap when it comes to driveline stuff. Nothing like having to remove 3/4 of the drivetrain for 2 rubbed guibo joints on the driveshaft.....

Car will look nice when its done. That silver car in the pictures needs a dropped side skirt by just a hair. i hate seeing the front bumper lower the the side door rocker. looks unfinished

I'm not quite sure how the bumper to side will look. It has been on my mind and I agree with you. I really don't care for side skirts on a Boxster, but I do have a set picked out. They are just about identical to the side skirt in the picture and I would have them painted full silver, no black at the bottom.

Side note: Rear bumper came in today and is damaged. Took it to the body shop and the cost to fix/recondition it is estimated at $300, they will let me know for sure tomorrow on the cost. The bumper only cost me $400 shipped new from an individual on eBay. I'll either send it back and get my money back or see if he will help cover the extra cost on the fix/reconditioning. To buy it new from a dealer it runs $525 shipped. So that would cost me an extra $125 and I'll ask the seller to cover/refund the other $175.

This area is completely cracked through.

This area the gel coating is cracked and falling off.

    Ding in the edging.

    Chipped out on the edge.

If thats glass you can honestly fix it yourself pretty cheap and easily. fiberglass is not difficult to work with at all.

Will side skirts from a gt3 fit your car? They seem pretty good size wise and nice and simple. Just enough to fill the gap.
