So I'm going to be ordering an x99 Classified motherboard and an i7 6850k for a new build I'm doing.
Now I understand it needs a BIOS update to support the new Broadwell-e processors, my question is, how do I update the BIOS to support the new CPUs if I do not own an older 2011-3 CPU to boot with and update? Is there anything I could do to update it?
I know it has a replaceable BIOS chip, is that something I could possibly buy from evga updated for the new CPUs? Thanks!

This is being asked in the FTW k thread as well. No answer yet. I read through the x99 classified. Manual and there is no instructions for this yet.

going to look through the ftw k manual and see if there is an answer there

Nada.. I read through them both. Soon someone who knows or and EVGA will see this and give you your answer.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I'd read thorough the manuals and saw nothing and I did see that in the other thread with no real answer unfortunately. I would just hate to buy everything and be stuck with no options. (I wouldn't consider having to buy another CPU just to update the BIOS an option before anyone suggests that lol)

You can always open a support ticket with EVGA if you dont get an answer here but they are usually pretty quick on the forum.

Yeah I've read great things about their support, which is why I went with them a few years ago with a graphics card, and why I'd like to give them a try in the motherboard department with my new build.

I have the x99 classified board its fantastic and oc so well. I took it out and have been using a diff brand for my current build -unstable oc's and crappy bios. I cant wait to start a new build this weekend in a case that the classy will fit in so i can use it again... the sm8 with pedestal.

I would suggest contacting support about that.  In most cases we can assist with a replacement BIOS chip, from there you can hotflash the other(s) up to a revision that can support the current processor.  I say in most cases as there can be caveats based on where you are located, but I would suggest contacting Customer Service/Technical Support and they should be able to get you squared away.

Yes, I can confirm that once the board is registered to your EVGA.com account then please contact our support so that we can send you a BIOS chip to assist.
