I ordered the Tegra Note 7 from Newegg over the weekend.  When I try to do the OTA 4.3 MR2 update GMS, after downloading the first 200MBs it says "downloaded, MD5 check"  then says it fails.  After I reboot it continues the dl but ultimately fails again and will continue to say it is downloading beyond the 389 MBs.  I tried a factory reset and the same thing happened.  Any help? Is it possible to flash the update manually?

Thanks for any help!

I have also tried force stopping system update and clearing data. Ditto on the nvidia system updater, no luck.

Re: New Tegra Note 7 4.3 Update Fails 2014/10/05 18:30:23 (permalink)
Have the exact problem. This Tegra Note 7 is from Newegg.ca ordered mid-Sep 14. I download Android 4.3 MR2 update and at 200MB point I get message: "MD5 integrity check failed. The downloaded file may be..." and the rest was cut off. I'm assuming is says something like corrupt. This was from the swipe down spot where the little arrow is showing it downloading in the upper left of the screen. It gives a little more detail than vs. when you just look at it from the simple update thing that takes the whole screen.

This is ridiculous that this should be happening. Is this a hardware/software problem on the Tegra or is the update that is being provided corrupted? At first I would simply power off the machine and restart only to have to download continue trying from the beginning again (you get the 200 continuing on to 300, 400, 500, etc.) only to fail again. Reading on the

forums.evga.com/New-Tegra-Note-7-43-Update-Fails-m2227924.aspx

that someone posted that they had successfully updated to 4.3 by clearing the cache on the system app providing the update (they were not clear on EXACTLY what cache was cleared) I thought I would try that.

I went to Settings, Storage, Apps, scroll down to System Updates page, Force stop, clear data. I then went back to the system update and try again. You do get a new download spot ie it starts from 1MB onto the 200 fail point.

The result is the same: it gets to 200 and fails as above. It's not a deal killer that I can't get Android 4.3 but it does suck and this should not be happening with a brand new Tegra without anything other than my Wi-Fi network installed and a few tweaks to the system settings such as shutting off that god-awful keyboard clicking, shutting down the writing pad when I want to use the stylus for input. My next try will be a factory reset but others have tried that to no avail. I've just got to think that the update file has become corrupted as these postings seem to be from Sep 2014 but their may be earlier ones. Anyone with recent success updating to Android 4.3 pls state what date your Tegra was purchased and any other pertinent details, thanks!

There is a support rep over at geforce that's dealing with this specific issue. You can give him your details on the page or file a bug report. Look for the post by Geforce Dave:

New Tegra Note owner here - just logging the same complaint. I've had the tablet since Tuesday... probably had 7-10 fails now on two different wireless networks. A little irritating to have this issue on a brand new, top end android tablet. Hope it is resolved soon, love the tablet otherwise, but it keeps demanding to download the update (that won't update!) even without my intervention. Thanks!

I wanna add that I also have the exactly same issue. Since there's a 4.4.2 version, why we couln't just upgrade to KitKat. Or why don't post the OTA zip so we can download elsewhere and update the tablet? Thanks!

SOLUTION:

Found a workaround:

1- Stop updating service and clear its data: Settings -> Apps -> All -> Updater -> 'Force stop' and 'Clear data'.
2- Download the OTA update  with the web browser from here: docs.google.c om/file/d/0Byg_PWHwNwsLc1gtMW5VRnVSREE/edit
3- Move this file to /storage/sdcard0/nvidia/app/ota/download/ROM/ and delete other files if any.
4- Shut down and restart your device.
5- Go to Settings-> About tablet -> System updates and install (update apears now as downloaded and verified).

Now you have Android 4.3 and subsequent OTA updates will be detected, downloaded and installed normally.
Problem seems to be in Update app (v0.57) of Android 4.2.2.

Hope this help.

I Tesed and works! Now Im downloading 4.4.2 Update

Re: New Tegra Note 7 4.3 Update Fails 2014/10/12 15:12:08 (permalink)
that didn't work for me.  Do i need to unzip the file once it is in the /storage/sdcard0/nvidia/app/ota/download/ROM/ folder?

I clear data and reset after following the guide above but it still wants to download (not seeing the file is already there)

What am I doing wrong?

Hi! It worked on the first time. Don't need to unzip, just copy. Maybe the file is corrupted? Try downloading again. Worked in the first try here. can't help you more. If you dl directly to the note (I did that) try download on the PC first. The correct Process to stop and clear is: System Update. Maybe you cleared another process.

This is so stupid and simple to fix. First, I don't speak or read German, so I can't under stand the fix in Yellow.. Second, Just place the download here. We download and drag to the android. Problem fixed. It's amazing to me that EVGA has not fixed this problem yet.

Having the same problem on two of my TegraNote 7's. I have tried the fix, both zipped and unzipped but they did not work. Any new info on this? Any other fixes that I can try?

It worked in the first try. As you unzipped, the file isn't corrupted. Did you changed the name of the file? Is in the exact location? Did you wiped the apps caches? There's 2 "updater" apps. Clear both caches. Good luck!

How do you move files to specific locations on the Tegra? Do you need 3rd party software?

Use any file manager. I use "es file Explorer". But you can use whatever you want. Don't need root.

At first my update of 4.3 would not download. I tried every other day and finally it downloaded and installed. Since I have downloaded and installed the 4.4 one as well. Just keep trying. Good Luck! JMC

Same problem here. Download fails at 200MB, restarting the tablet causes it to continue the download and then error on an invalid checksum. Stopping the update process and clearing its cache does not solve the issue. There's no necessity for an update, but I'm still hoping for a fix sometime soon- I'd prefer update capabilities to function on my tablet.

Re: New Tegra Note 7 4.3 Update Fails 2014/11/15 07:03:59 (permalink)
Success! Did it the old fashioned way. Thought I would just try again the regular way through the device, downloaded, went away for about a half hour, came back and it said, "downloaded and verified". Blew me away. Anyway, it installed no problem and now I have Android 4.3. Maybe they fixed the file, I don't know, but glad to see that my Tegra was able to update its OS the way it is supposed to. So the advice to just keep trying the regular way proved to be a great idea!
