Any chance this could be done for P55 FTW (E657)? Some guy wanted to do so in the thread below but could not open the bios file in MMTOOL? Thanks
(Oh can't post links yet it's m=1530297)
Unfortunately, the EVGA P55 boards seem to use a non-UEFI 4MB AMI BIOS which neither version of MMTOOL is able to open, even after renaming the file. If anyone knows which tool to use, please tell me.

Ugh, should have posted in this before I started a thread. My bad. Has anyone with the e762 achieved RAID0 TRIM with their SSDs with the modded BIOS from this post? Also, total newb question: 7-zip isn't allowing me to delete the original bin file from EGVA's ISO ("no such interface supported") so I can replace with the new file. Anyone have any work around for this? Thanks...

So is anyone at least seeing a performance increase from this updated bios? Though, frankly, if you're not, then I would feel a little better that I likely won't get one for my P55, heh.

I got your PM but decided to reply here in the thread so that others with the same issue might benefit. The problem is, you cannot insert anything into the .img file inside of the ISO. I recommend booting from USB and then flashing the BIOS. Instructions on how to make a bootable USB stick can be found here http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=15265&high and here http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1142390 The first link is more specific to the X58 BIOS. Good luck!

Considering that anything older than the 7-series chipsets will most likely never get TRIM support for RAID, I wouldn't worry too much about having the latest OROMs. Some of us just need that warm, fuzzy feeling we get from knowing that we're on the bleeding edge, even if it does absolutely nothing ;)

Thanks. This was essentially my hunch. Only reason I truly care about this at all presently is because I am converting my P55 rig to a "starter" home test server and would like to squeeze every drop of performance out of the controller, though I will surely end up with a real RAID card eventually anyway (and a whole diff setup in time).

@Henry, I updated my bios using your last mod for my E759 and something odd has happened. Basically after setting the controller to 'Raid Mode' in bios the boot up process is super fast and when I hit pause to see the disclaimer - instead of 11.6.0.1702 I get the AHCI 1.07.10 loading up. Though I only have one drive in the system right now. Is it defaulting to AHCI? How can I check if 11.6.0.1702 is loaded? Thanks.

Hey dude. That's the correct behavior if you have only one disk installed. The RAID ROM does not get invoked, and that's why it boots a little faster. You can still check your RAID ROM version if you go to the HELP section in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software and then click on SYSTEM REPORT.

Oh ok. Thanks. I guess since i removed my raid array to save power i didnt notice that the raid rom disclaimer disappeared. Getting a couple ssd's soon to be a secondary drive. cant wait too see the old intel raid rom notice pop up!
Anyhow sorry didn't mean to yell but was wondering if you have tried modding the ahci rom? Win-lite.de has version 1.2E I think. I would try it but too chicken..
Thanks for your quick reply,
Dave.

That just performs manual garbage collection or manually trims the array. Not true trim.

i know trim get passed by OS/driver, but this is needed if someone has the OS installed long time, yet upgraded the BIOS/RAID ROM that supports trim just recently, am i right ?

Sure is needed but you can do with out as performance will degrade. Though there is always manual garbage collection apps or some drives gc when idle.

Happy Thanksgiving Evga Bios modders.. Seems like XMas has come early and Trim support for other chipsets besides 7 series may be possible. I came across this thread where someone found out that changing the hardware raid device ids and their associated flags in the ORom in a hex editor turned on Trim for Z68 boards and possible other older chipsets. Only Z68 confirmed so far. Was wondering is anyone interested in giving this a try? First got to find the alternate raid dev id for an X58 Classy Raid controller. I'm going to try and post my results later... Thanks.

mohsh86 is it possible to get the new 11.7 ROM ? I think there is a link on the first page of the thread but it doesn't make any difference. Trim just doesn't work on the X58 chipset for some reason. Other 5-series boards do work but not for X58.

There is currently no 11.7.x ROM available. Only the 11.7.x driver has been released. I'll update the BIOSes as soon as there's a new ROM :)

My modded BIOS has the latest available OROM. I doubt that the X58 chipset will ever get TRIM support, though. Not officially, anyway.

woken Hey I'm using your e758 bios, but for some reason on post screen the date of my bios says it's 8/25/2011 instead of 9/02/2011?
Isn't the 83 bios supposed to be from september and shouldn't that be updated?
8/25/2011 sounds correct. That's when the BIOS was written. It was probably published 9/2/2011, so maybe that's where you got that date. Nothing to worry about. This is and will always be the latest and last ever BIOS update from EVGA for the X58 boards. I will of course keep injecting newer ROMs. So, keep an eye on this thread. I'm sure there will be a new Intel RAID ROM soon (with no TRIM fix for 5-series, haha).
