I would love a new raid rom as much as anyone else but i believe the 11.0 RST is for Sandy bridge and later. I don't believe the X58 has the ability to use it. its not even listed as an available download on intels site.
Are you sure?
From the 11.5.0.1153 iastorAC.inf and what Device Manager shows for my E770:
It might be listed but does not mean it will work correctly. As i said its not even listed on intel webpage as a download right now. I would assume that intel having their own x58 boards it would be listed if it functioned properly on the X58 boards. The problem is some of the features are sandy bridge and higher. the x58 is outdated now which is why we probably will not see another BIOS update ever. It sucks to know but then again maybe if we make this thread large enough jacob will "look into it" again. so keep the posts coming.

@Crusheddream, I am not that familiar with what Intel posts on their download pages (I never seem to be able to find what I am looking for anyway), but do they post BETAs?

Intel never posts betas. They also tend to not put their latest drivers in the older chipsets' support section. That certainly doesn't mean that they won't work. In the case of our X58 boards, all newer Intel RAID ROMs as well as their drivers have been fully supported. The only feature that needs a newer chipset is Intel Smart Response. When you install a 11.x OROM in an X58 BIOS, this feature is greyed out.

loveha Maybe if we complain enough again, something will get done like last time. Although, we are at the limits of OROM space, so I am not going to hold my breath. haha, I wish it didn't have to come to complaints man. I think all this tech stuff should be supported for AT LEAST 10 years after it's first day of release. I know a lot of us don't have all this crap for that long, and after 5 or so years they could maybe drop it or charge a few bux, BUT, don't leave us old tech's in the dust bin...

Have been running the new mod for a couple days now, everything is working well... I'm still not sure about Trim being supported yet on RAID but I enjoy having the most updated drivers / bios / rom's so I appreciate the effort of putting this together for us...

I was reading a thread on G3D and came across this post: http://forums.guru3d.com/...73038&postcount=51 which suggests that TRIM on RAID0 is possible, using the correct combination of IRST driver and RAID ROM. Perhaps if we could get modded BIOS, those of using running RAID0 arrays under Windows 7 could enjoy the benfits of TRIM.

Working fine here on E759 E760 and E770 with modded BIOS 11.5.0.1414 Intel RAID Option ROM from henryvits and Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 11.5.0.1207 direct from intel, systems overall seem quick and snappier. Thanks henryvits!!!

Hi, I took the plunge and upgraded to 11.5.0.1414 and also updated the raid rst to 11.5.0.1207 and here are my before and after AS SSD bench of a single SSD boot drive. There are other mechanical drives running in raid 5 which I'm very curious how much better the performance is now. Anyhow what stands out is the 4K-64 bench numbers! Wow! Thanks for the mod! BEFORE: AFTER: Edit: Should note that I went through a firmware upgrade, drive wipe, and image reinstall in between the two benches so results may not be accurate.

Although I truly appreciate the modded BIOS, it appears that all the work to enable TRIM for RAID0 is for naught. It appears to work for Z77 boards, but neither X58 nor 6-series motherboards have the capability. I do hope future IRST drivers will enable it, but I honestly do not believe Intel is at all interested in further development for an EOL chipset.

Are you talking about the Intel AHCI Option ROM 1.20E? If so, we have tried to integrate this into our BIOS before, but never with 100% success. Unfortunately, the EVGA X58 BIOS uses a Phoenix AHCI ROM, which is unique to Award-based legacy (non-UEFI) BIOSes. That being said, it is possible to replace it with the one from Intel, but after doing so, setting the BIOS to AHCI instead of IDE or RAID will then fail to detect any hard drives or optical drives. The workaround is to simply set the BIOS to RAID. This will still let you use single or multiple hard drives as stand-alones (not in a RAID array). Doing this will basically not invoke the AHCI ROM at all, which shaves off a couple of seconds of boot time. I am currently using a modified version of my BIOS posted here with the addition of the latest available Intel AHCI ROM 1.20E0027 as well as the latest Realtek PXE ROM 2.48. If anyone is interested in trying this, let me know and I'll upload a version for all boards as a separate download.

Also, just a quick update in regards to replacing the Phoenix AHCI ROM with the one from Intel: There simply isn't any point in doing this, even though it is technically possible. My recommendation for everyone is to set your BIOS to "RAID" instead of "AHCI" and be done with it. That will bypass the AHCI ROM and just use the RAID ROM.
