I just built this new rig yesterday.
  • Corsair Graphite Series Arctic White 760T Full Tower
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80PLUS Platinum Certified 1000w
  • ASRock ATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboards FATAL1TY Z97 KILLER
  • Intel Core i7-4790K
  • Cooler Master Nepton 280L
  • G Skill Trident X DDR3 (4 x 4GB)
  • 2 x EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked 3GB
  • 2 x Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
Will I be able to play max settings at 1440p?  I haven't purchased a new monitor yet and was considering doing so.  Any general thoughts on this build?

    Hello,

That is a superb build you should not have a problem running 1440p within your system with that being said you will need is a 1440p monitor than can run 2560 by 1440.

You should be able to get some really decent performance out of that setup but it will also depend on what titles you are into.  Since you haven't purchased a monitor yet I have one more thing to throw at you to think about, Gsync.  With more monitors are coming out with Gsync support native, if it's within your budget, might be worth a look.  I've only seen it in videos but you always hear the term 'smooth as butter' which is very exciting.

That aside that case is also really nice as you've got a little extra space in the back for cable management.  In my particular case I added to more fans to the top for exhaust and used some of the extra colored rings as spacers (from the fans) between the case and the top so i could keep the clean look while allowing for ventilation.

    Anyhow, enjoy the setup!

that is a sick build. It would run games well beyond 1440p. Nice choice choosing EVGA.

I have a "similar" build in terms of gaming performance only. I can tell you that you should be able to push 1440p quite easily. I havent tried either Metro game or Crysis 3 but I CAN tell you that EVGATech_Erik is right. I just got the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q and it's phenomenal. I was in the same boat as you and unsure how well my machine would do 1440p but it's definitely awesome when mixed with GSYNC!

Depends on the game and what he means by max settings(ie: how much AA is he running?). For most games you will be able to average 60fps or greater with low/no AA. But even at 1440p(which is nearly double the pixel count of a 1080p screen)a pair of 780's in SLI(assuming the game even supports sli) will require the settings to be dropped down below max on some of really demanding games. Even a pair of ti's in SLI with nearly 1000 more shaders and higher memory bandwidth will have difficulty generating 60fps average on some games at 1440p.

Run the Heaven benchmark at max settings(including AA) to get a good idea of the capabilities of your setup at that resolution. I run a mild OC'd 4770k and pair of 780 ti's(mild OC @1006mhz)and at 1080p in Heaven with max AA I get about 110-115fps average. I'll be impressed if you can hit a solid 60fps with a pair of regular 780's at 1440p and a 4790k.

The Keplar GK110 chips and the drivers.......... single and in 2 way sli are technically optimized and run best at 1080p. They can run a lot of programs maxed out(minus AA) really good at 1440p, but not all. You will find that out soon enough when you have a lot of games that have minimum FPS dips into the 20's and teens more than expected.
